I think Gears 3 - GOTY.

- Uncharted 3 has the best campaign ever but you play it alone, multiplayer is cool, the survival mode bored me after the 3rd wave.

- Batman is probably really fun but the story - they just take the villains and the heros from the comics.

In the other side:

- Gears 3 has a great 4 players co-op campaign and story that finish the trilogy in a great way, it has a pretty cool, balanced and polished multiplayer and the Horde and the Beast mode are just a huge fun to play.

I do like the singleplayer, but it is not as great as the singleplayer in U2. I dont like the step back from U2s multiplayer.

@element271 Mhm, but some are most prestigouse than others. For one Edge were the only to give out a GOTY to Assassin's Creed. However for me it doesn't really matter as to what they vote up, it is just some magazine that I find to be pretty much out of business now. On the other hand BAFTA and AIAS matter much more, than that and say GameTrailers or IGN, simply because they are non-profit organisations that are dedicated on reviewing media and visual arts.

@becool365 IGN always rate shit up what advertises on there site, game trailers gets it right 90% of the time though, and i find the more "prestigious" critics tend to rate more original "arty" type games higher then a more traditional liner game, i personally go off the opinions of the TV show Good Game as they are owned by the Australian ABC and has zero advertising, they are also pc focused and more consistent, as well as not falling into the trends of rating more popular games higher

@element271 Not really, so far they have given out awards to Mass Effect 2, Uncharted 2, LBP, Arkham Asylum, CoD 4, Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy and of course HL2. You really will not spot arty titles, just the usual ones that deserve the awards. Though there are crapton of magazines that give out GOTY, so even games like MW2 get one. Therefore it really isn't a quantifiable measure. I will look into Good Game though.

I'd say there are tons of good games out this year, and people refer only to Q3 releases. Brilliant games like Shogun 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3, Infamous 2 and LA Noire .

Personally I loved Uncharted 3, its ticks all the boxes; story, gameplay, visuals, multiplayer etc. Its just extremely fun.

I'm still yet to try Batman, the first one was amazing and I have high hopes for the second but I think catching a game like Uncharted will be a hard thing to do, but I can't comment on that.

But please, explain why you feel its over rated? Like I mentioned, I think its does pretty much everything you'd want from a game.

I wasn't wowed by the story and tbh, felt UC2's story a bit better. The graphics are still top notch as is voice acting but never really got into the MP. There are a couple other reasons but that would just be nitpicking.

It's just not a good GAME.

GREAT visuals and story elements, but the GAMEPLAY is just gentle guidance along the story.

Skyrim, maybe skyward sword, they are GOTY contenders worthy of the priize, not uncharted

(and BTW, I own the previous 2, their SP was just not fun enough to be worth finishing, I just watched the third and got more enjoyment out of it. when watching a game is more enjoyable than playing, it is not GAME of the year)
