Hello, I would like to purchase the video but not sure how to buy it. I am located in Mexico and our regions are 1 and 4. Can you please advise? Thank you
Sorry, this is a poor and disturbing representation of mustering in nz.. Lambs are a valuable commodity. to show them being run down and apparently devoured by a pack of well trained sheepdogs is purely gratuitous footage. We can and do better than this!
kiwis call that a sheep station when really its a whore house where kiwis can pay to do what they do best root sheep the main problem in nz is that kiwis dont share there sheep they keep them for themselves baaaaaaaaaaaa
2:32 looks like lake Wakatipu looking towards Glenorchy with tree, pig and pigeon island in the middle, but could be wrong. Going to be sailing Wakatipu next week.
This brought backa aflood of memories! I toured both Islands with 12 of my closest mates during our 1996 Sheep Bothering Tour. We spent two and a half weeks in that wonderful, wonderful land touring. I think about it often to this day. The closest we got to a sheep was tossing a lost ewe back over the fence into her field in the middle of no-where on the South Island. Can't wait to go back.
Great video of real stock dogs and farm job! Must be paradise on earth?! NZ seem to have everything one needs; dogs, stock, mountains, valleys, sea, lakes, snow and beach!
It takes just one good dog to catch a lamb so that it can be returned to where it should be. However, in this case, there is a pack of dogs because they are moving a massive mob of sheep. These dogs arent hunting the sheep, but keeping them where they need to be using HERDING instincts. That lamb will not have been hurt, sheepdogs mouth without harming. No farmer wants his stock damaged in any way. A dog that harms sheep is soon left behind in its kennel.
I was there - no blood was drawn - the lamb was completely unhurt - the dogs were just bringing the lamb down and within seconds a shepherd moved in to pick the lamb up and return it to the pen. No harm done.
I can see why you call it God's own country. That is how I feel about the American West (Colorado, Montana, Wyoming). Takes my breath right out of me. My eyes cannot take it all in.

Why is there a pack of dogs being allowed to chase around and pin down by it's neck, a single lamb?
