thanks for posting this up. i've actually walked the full stretch of this old ROW from rt. 303 in hudson all the way to the meet up next to highway rt. 8 in down town cuyahoga falls. my dad an i have numerous times thought of buildin a small pump car to run these rails just for fun, though i don't think the park service or NS will find it fun.
yea Kleman09 is wat u say true?.. or just adream of urs like u said?.. and if its is true u needa get avideo of it and wat not.. we youtubers would love to see it:D
kleman09 there are trains tracks on your property????? and they lead to a engine yard in thick woods??? how? how is that? where do u live? how big was the yard???? on what side of it was the engine house???? how many steam engines where there????
I dream of finding an abandoned railroad tracks on property i just purchased. I follow them and they lead to a small yard, hidden by a thick woods. I look around and find an old engine house. Inside the engine house is a number of steam locomotives, just waiting to be steamed up! Abandoned by the rialroad and i now own them! Thats a great dream!
Hey - this is an old railroad track in Cuyahoga Falls. It was near the scene of the infamous "doodlebug" crash that killed a bunch of people ages and ages back.
@MilwaukeeSDman Long story short, the Doodlebug engineer was overcome by exhaust fumes from the motor and mentally fell asleep. He was supposed to pull into a siding and allow an opposing freight train pass but did not.
@xtruthlovex Is that the old PRR Akron branch? That's cool. After that accident the rr upgraded the line to CTC and was dispatched out of Hudson, Ohio. I have a friend who now has the old CTC machine.
@jm0lesky How did he obtain the ctc board?! I have lots of items I found on the branch by Hudson. I have a PRR Position light, WOODEN crossing arms, Relays, A perfect PRR lantern, tons of insulators. How much do you think he would sell it for?
@trainpeeps I'm not sure if he would be willing to sell it. He was going to use it for a model railroad when I last talked to him. I'm not sure how he got it but he has tons of unusual railroad stuff
I just love studying abandoned railroad tracks. In fact, I've had many dreams where I would see old abandoned tracks leading up to the strange places like houses.
I heard all abandon rail in the US is coming back in 2014

Judging by the communication pole on the left sporting three crossarms @ 0.12, this must have been an important rail route at one time.
