Well these are the first cats I've ever had.. I freaked out when res cat hissed his face off all the time.. Then he got mad at me lol so I researched it online.
Heh, ok, I get the idea behind keeping a new kitten separate for a couple days, but honestly, in 32 years of living with cats, my family has never bothered. Toss em in, keep an eye on em for a couple hours, and all is good. Granted, Baron spent his first three months in the house under the furniture, but that would have happened anyway... our old cat Bucket was a complete bitch.

1 time my mother brought a new puppy home. it saw my fluffy orange grown cat and hid in the bathroom. my cat decided to go investigate. my cat found the puppy, sniffed it a few times then peacefully headed out the bathroom like he was saying,"oh, it's just a dog, big whup!" lol :D
awh i just got a new kitten and my nerves are gone my older cat is being a grouch and he is spitting hissing and bitting her but no blood yet she is so small what should i do please help
@gemmajingles If you JUST got the kitten, that's normal. The hissing and spitting is to show territorial dominance. My older cat did that to my younger one before, but now they act like sisters.
Now they play all the time and lick each other to show affection. If I was you I would google ways to introduce a new cat to the resident cat.. I think it helped a lot.
Actually it's funny you should ask, they are the best of friends now! Actually in the video, they were just playing... It threw me off at first though because we kept the kitten (girl) in my moms room at first so the resident cat (male) would know she's there but not be able to do anything bad. He used to hiss at the door all the time, and we were so disappointed and thought it would never work. But that day of the video my accidentally left the door open and they met, but it was fine
