  • great cover!

  • very well thanks! have you the sheet music of this song ?

  • thanks PROCOL HARUM and legendary HAMMOND organ, here M100 serie witl Leslie cabinet 122 or 147.

  • VERY GREAT STANDARD of legendary band PROCOL HARUM, fabulous real HAMMOND sound (not clone) magical !

  • yes man youre diggin it !!! such a nice sound... and if you ask me... the best equipment :-D haha

  • Wow! Matt Fisher would be very proud of your work, I must say!

    peace

  • Oh, and another thing: I play the rythm/bass part like you, more or less. You just seem to play 5ths though, am I right? (C, G#, F, G)

  • @MrOzzyIommi-- you're right ... C, G #, F, G are the keynotes, the main reason is that the m100 has only three and a half octaves for each manual .. but it's the same thing anyway. greetings

  • @HalForD666GOD

    Hi Alex,

I'm from Italy and I'm waiting for my M101 straight from UK! This is surely the first thing I'll play on it! What are drawbars setting, please?

Congratulations for playing this song this way! Great!

    Max.

    Max

  • @maxacanfora Hi Max,First of all congratulations on your purchase and thank you for the 'appreciation.

The setting (if I remember correctly) was: 588500000 upper, lower 7570000. The most important thing is the reverb. (Two tablets lowered)

    Hope I helped you.

    Tanti saluti Alex

  • @HalForD666GOD

    Hi Alex,

thank you very much, I appreciate so much your fast reply! Yes, I saw the reverb tabs on video :-) as I've seen chords and many more. It's practically impossible to find written partiture of this song. Yet a few days and my Hammond will arrive. Now I'm looking for a 145 on eBay UK...

    Grazie molte!

    Max!

  • @maxacanfora YES it's a M100 serie with tonewheels from legendary HAMMOND factory (not a clone) and a Leslie 122 or 147 I think. Have succes.

  • So, I'm not the only one to think an ashtray over it would looks elegant for some reason, I don't keep it there though. Good work! planning on getting an M100.

  • @MrOzzyIommi aaah ... totally agree with you .... in the meantime, I quit anyway .. heh heh.

good choice for the m100, and .. nice nickname! Take care bye.

  • @HalForD666GOD oops!!! I didn't mean M100, I meant M3!

  • I like what you're doing near the end…and I see that you took some inspiration from Copping's performance on pop2…

  • @JeckOverfull I like the performance you are corrected, and the style of Copping (being me) bass ).... hehe however there are some mistakes from time to time and the part of Ave Maria is all improvised, I never looked at the chords ... thanks again and congratulations for your version more complete.

I always respect those who have this passion and best wishes for finding musicians for your band.

    Regards Alex.

  • @HalForD666GOD Thanks Alex…Actually i was referring to some of the things you played instead of chording on the top of the guitar, a bit like Chris Copping did in the famous pop2 performance (the only one from the classic PH that has got a live video recording, widely available here on youtube)…

  • You are correct. This is THE Hammond sound! For years, I was in a dual-keyboard band (I handled pianos and, eventually, key bass (then Mini-Moog for bass--I was the first to use synth purely for bass, and I got her to kick butt!). The other keyboardist had a B3, a clavinette, and a synth. We'd remove a power tube from both the Hammond and the Leslie (6550 abd 6L6-GC) to get that growl. Good work. Keep going!

  • Hello, this is THE hammond sound, thanks!

Do you use a sort of special track from Procol Harum with muted original organ sound? Where can I buy such music (I'm from Holland)?

    Greets Michel

  • @daaristiedan thanks You. No I don't use a special track, this CD is called Pandora's Box and contains alternative versions from the studio (example aWSoP and Repent Walpurgis). I play only at a higher volume to cover the original organ track. I could record a lot better but for now okay.

My greetings to you and your beautiful Holland

  • I was listening to the album recently, and found myself missing your overdubs! You get such a nice growl from that setup - a bit of overdrive sounds great on these tracks.

  • @psionicsoundworks thanks for the compliment! the m100 has a nice sound, shame about the recording quality. the sound is actually much better.

    Regards Alex.

  • @HalForD666GOD Yes I also have an m101 and 120 leslie, but just recently got a 145 (w/147 amp) to pair up with it. It is a great sounding Hammond, and the powered leslie makes a huge difference! There's a trimmer adjustment on the back of the swell pedal that I used to turn up the preamp gain to overdrive the Leslie a bit (can't always run mine at full volumes :). I love that sound!

Hope to learn some of these great PH tracks as expertly as you have! Wonderful playing.

    Cheers,

    Joe

  • Absolutely love this. Especially from 3:00 on.

  • Congratulations!!!

    Wonderful performance in this song.

    Almost identical to original

Do you have score for this?

  • Awesome. I'm a huge PH fan.

  • Your way is a good way:

    Bravo, non male!
