  • cool

  • awesome cover(music wise) but it seemed like the singer was forgetting lyrics or something? he sounded good, but it was the missed lyrics that bothered me

  • the guitarist looks like oz fox a little

  • The singer looks and sounds like Biff Byford from Saxon.

  • I agree with other comment, the singer doesn't have the same octaves Dave Had in the earlier VH days...

This guy knows the lyrics but his voice isn't deep enough to be considered a first rate Tribute band front man...

The drums, bass and of course Guitarist are phenomenal and play the songs perfectly...

Look for another singer that sounds more like DLR and not Vince Neil...

  • have any of these guys actually heard dave live? this guy sounds MUCH better and has great stage presence as well. perfect fro a trib band. i would pay to see these guys in a second. better than vh, of course not but great at what they do. great guitar ripping too.

  • I better the singer could do a good Bon Scott impersonation

  • Hey how hard is it to find a guy this good in comparison to dave The guy is doing a good job. Dave was kinda corny.

  • dude the singers gotta go, other than that, excellent. guitars are perfect

  • 9 0ut of 10 i would of gave you a 10 but the singer isnt the greatest although he has a lot of stage prescence

  • Obviously you didn't see VH live in this period.

  • your right there one of my favorite bands of all time and ive never seen them live

  • Excellent! Great plyaing, and you actually look like a mix between EVH and Kirk Hammett LOL. Please check out my version of "I'm The One" on guitar. :)

  • KEEP ROCKIN"

  • does the bass player have a mullet wig on? haha he needs the jack daniels bass ....if i were drunk i would think it was van halen..haha

  • Again great great great!!!

  • does anyone know where i can learn van halen songs for bass

  • hey guys, you really look like van halen!

    amazing cover!

  • brings me back

  • goodplaying but the singers not ever close to dave ???

  • can any1 come close to dave

  • ya, but no one ever gets famous from it cause there was nothing special about his singing. Honestly, it kinda sucked compared to singers at the time. Thats why he never made anything of himself after VH. Van Halen made him famous.

  • too high

    though good

  • awesome playin dude.

  • Oz Foxx on guitar, and Phil Margera on bass, but I really like watching this. The shoobedoowaa's were pretty good! Oz does a pretty bang up job!

  • perfect guitar. Perfect bass. Perfect drums. Almost perfect vocals. (Doesen't sound like Dave that much, but he has the stage presence down perfectly. He even "forgets" some of the lyrics!!) I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

  • the best VH cover band i have ever seen....great......

  • You are an AWESOME guitarist. Total style and class all the way. Drummer kicks ass too.

  • Thanks man!

    Frank

  • Dude, you nailed the guitar!!

Is that your real hair? Looks 80'ish but very cool!!

  • Yeah.....the real hair....I try and give it the 80's look for the gigs.

    Frank

  • decently played...no one plays it better than EVH though

  • Thank you, but I still love to watch Eddie play too.

    Frank

  • THis guy plays like Eddie on speed!

  • Yeah, I played this song early in the set and the nerves kicked in...I started it fast.

    Frank

  • Just to let you know, I didn't mean that as a dig. Great Playing!!!!

  • The band kicks ass. I'd like to see the vocalist in a Crue tribute band instead of this one. Not many people pull of Vince Neil -- this guy could.

  • That guy is Rick Rael. Albuquerque resident and former bass player for the late 80's hair band Femme Fatale that featured his sister Lorraine Lewis on vocals. he was almost a real rockstar for a short time. Fame is fleeting...lol!

  • So close!

    Frank

  • Where did you get that guitar?

  • hey man I made a video of me doing a ed solo that ur probaly familar wit, its a lil sloppy & the audio is low cause im using my laptop cam, im not hooked up to any of my pedals jus guitar straight to my marshall 10w, plan on making a better version soon, tell what u think, its on my page, if u got time, ive been playin since feb.

  • great guitar playin, man u nailed it, but..... that singer is horrible!!!!!!!!!! he was missing lyrics and sound like he didnt even want to be there, but u nailed that guitar playing.

  • Hey thanks man......lol....your review of our singer sounds like some of the reviews of David Lee in the mid 80's...lol

    Thanks again,

    Frank

  • Awesome Song one my faves how do you play moving like that without messing up? VAN HALEN RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude r u gaining weight cuz u look wicked skinny here but in ur instructional dvd bite you look a little bigger....whats going on??

  • LOL...yeah, I fluctuate by about 30lbs from summer to winter....my kid said the same thing....lol

    Frank

  • The band sounds great. Excellent guitar playing. Musically, you guys are almost as good as the Atomic Punks. Your singer is good, but Ralph is David Lee, circa 1982.

  • yeah, Ralph is great...our singer sat in with those guys....our singer (Rick Rael) was the bass player in "Femme Fatale" his sister (Lorraine Lewis) was the lead singer...check out their MTV video on youtube "Waiting for the big one"...the best Eddie in a tribute band in my opinion was "Brian Young" of the old Atomic Punks...Russ and the new guy aren't even close.

    Frank

  • I remember that band. That is cool that your singer was with them. Lance Turner is passable but I think Russ is way better. I think Russ is the best out of all of them. Where are u guys from? Keep the 80's rock alive!

  • We're from Albuquerque NM....Brian Young was before Russ..he is DLR's guitar player now...Russ is too stiff...he plays the right notes...no feel....Brian Young is amazing...I'll see if I can find a vid....we play maybe once a year..its just fun.

    Frank

  • I have seen Brian Young with DLR Band. In my opinion, Russ is still a better guitarist. Russ is not stiff. He has plenty of charisma and stage presence. I don't want to argue. You seem like a cool guy and you are a good player. Keep rocking.

  • Yeah, I didn't mean stiff as in charisma and stage presence....I've seen them a few times and I met Russ...He's a great guy and he is a great player and performer..I meant stiff as in.... he plays all the right notes...it just doesn't sound like Eddie...Brian is DLR's second Atomic Punk guitarist..I don't think Russ will get the call to replace Brian. Russ was better as the Bass player in the Band. This is just my opinion as a fan.

    Frank

  • Hey Frank I've realized that by stretching and contorting/bending my fretting hand every day all day, I've gotten it pretty hard and muscular. I also found out because of this I get a wicked awesome tone(hardened fingers)....is this the secret to fast hands and an awesome sound???

  • In my opinion, speed comes from precise picking and minimal motion in moving your fingers from fret to fret...lok at Yngwie...PERFECT technique. As you know, tone is a function of every aspect of the guitar and amp and finally, your playing style...I explain this in detail in the video....I'm almost out of characters in this box.

    Frank

  • Frank-Respectfully disagree...I think good picking comes from consistency more than anything, regardless (within reason) of if your wrist works 'wide', like Al DiMeola, Shawn Lane, John McLaughlin, Mike Stern, Steve Morse (..& Me), or 'minimally', like Yngwie, Eddie VH, Eric Johnson, etc! Happy New Year!!

  • Great guitar work...period...

  • Dude, you fucken rock. That was some serious guitar work. Makes me feel like giving up playing guitar. Where do you perform? Would love to see you guys rock the house down in Honolulu. What can I say, YOU RULE!!!

  • This is some sick shit. I love van halen, and this was one of the best covers I've ever come across. Fantastic guitar playing.

  • Thanks man! subscribe to my vids and you'll be notified by Youtube when I post other stuff.

    Frank

  • Hell yeah, already did.

  • Thanks Frank....Lol at "wear a striped shirt"..I just might lol. Anyways, I ll look for your post (tip) on "I m the One." Until then, I ll have to dig up some old 80 s garb,

    from my closet :)

  • Sorry to pick ur brain Frank, but I can literally play "Eruption" behind me head, note for note, but I always have trouble with that muted open A rhythm, on "I m the One."<<<<I know, I guess my brain works in reverse, the "difficult" stuff is easy, the easier stuff is "difficult" lol. Anyway, you kicked butt on "I m the One" Frank, is it the 80 s garb ? :)

  • Thanks man! If you want that swing feel. you gotta wear a striped shirt...lol...I'll post a tip video on Im the One.... lots of people email me about it.

    Frank

  • That was an awesome post. My fav VH song, and

you guys did it more than justice. I ve been playing "I m the One" for years Frank, and in typical 80 s guitar fashion, the leads a breeze for me, but that begining open A muted rhythm, lol, well, for some reason I have trouble gettin that "swing" feel consistent on the 16th notes. Are you usin down strokes on the open A for the most part ?

  • Fantástica sonido, gran técnica de Frank, y una increíble versión de de I´m the one.

Felicidades!!!! Excelente trabajo!! a ver si de pegan un viaje para Argentina...

  • WOW! Another incredible display of guitar talent. Can't wait to get the DVD! You might want to back off the artificial harmonics here and there, but that is my ONLY issue. Frickin' outstanding! And Frank since you're logged on right now how about responding to my email on the DVD? LOL! you must be swamped...

  • Yeah...I'm swamped and its cool to have such a great response...I'm on the tail end of recording the DVD...I got a nasty paper cut on my tapping finger that is almost healed....go figure...lol...just about there...I'm excited to get it finished!

    Frank

  • No offense but ya dont need to look like CVH if you sound like them. The sound is amazing. the timing is dead on. The singing isnt too shabby. Looks like Vince Neil. ; )

  • Thanks man, We're just having some fun...its cool to put on the 80s garb to show the younger ones what it was like in our day..its a blast!

  • damn nice cover, that guitar is nice who made that?

  • A guy named Roland Hernandez in Scottsdale, AZ..he did a great Job.

    Frank

  • bon scott in a blonde wig?

  • Funny you should say that.....Rick does a killer Bon Scott!

    Frank

  • Spot on with EVH man, much respect. Lol, but you kinda look like kirk hammit ....Keep rockin man!

  • lol...yeah..I've heard that before.

    Frank

  • Band nails it big time but the DLR part ain't cutting it.

  • I thought the singers voice was closer to the singer in Helix. You should do some Helix songs. Nice job with Eddies guitar parts.

  • Thank you.....Yeah...Helix is great!

  • it's all good but the vocals.

  • I love Craig - Guitarwannabee.. he's awesome and needs to be in band (big influence to me) .. you ROCK!!.. I do VH stuff in our band.. but I can actually admit.. not as good as you!!! Now if I can get those striped t-shirts, maybe that will help, I sent you an e-mail about that.

  • OK....my little secret is out now....I find those striped shirts in the women's department..apparently us guys don't wear striped shirts now that the 80s are over....LOL.....If Craig lived here, he could sit in with our band....no maybe not...LOL...because that might cause me to lose my spot as Eddie in the band.

  • The DVD is $24.95...its an hour long with on-screen Tab and printable tab as well...I think you guys are really gonna dig it!...its a 2 camera shoot...professionally edited with great guitar and vocal audio..and everything is real slow so you can hear and see every note...I also explain all the details that make the playing sound like Eddie's....its alot more than just the notes!

  • sounds cool.. are you pushing the drummer to go faster?

  • Actually, he's holding me back from playing too fast...sometimes the adrenaline kicks in and I'll start the song too up-tempo.

  • between you an Al Estrada.. no one can come close !

  • q tosco o vocalista usa peruca ahhahah, mas os caras mandam bem

  • just bad ass

  • Great cover!

  • Give me lessons

  • Yeah right....you can do this stuff in your sleep......I'll give you a call....maybe this weekend if your free.

  • yeah cool man, You got my number, call tonite after 7pm eastern time. my time, PS, i'm just jealous cause I don't have a band..

  • bass player has a sweet mullet

  • LOL...I'm Frank the guitar player...Rob (Bass Player) is actually wearing a wig....we call him Davey Crocket..LOL..He's actually Swami Rob..a local celebrity DJ here in Albuquerque...that Mullet is classic Michael Anthony in the 80s man. I'll post Rob's bass solo soon.

  • the guy playing David Lee Roth blows the whole illusion.I dont see any Dave in him at all.Not in the voice or the actions. You can easily find a better Dave than him.Its nothing personal, its just an opinion.Everyone eles was great. The guitar playing was fucking awesome.

  • who Cares about the singer!!! its all about the guitarist!! by the way nice playing!! its all ways good to see another TapnTips Video!

  • I think we can easily find a better Kevin than this one.

  • the guitar player kicks ass

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks Man, I'll be posting a tips video for this real soon...let me know what you think.
