  • Okay this is an argument as old as time, the reason they redo the shows instead of just rearing the original is because the cultures are different. Pop culture references are different, slang, mannerisms all different. You can enjoy both versions just think of them as parallel universes.

  • I'm an American. The UK show is legend, nothing compares.

  • I haven't seen the UK version, although I plan on beginning it soon. I personally have fallen in love with the US version. I watched the first season twice before knowing it was based on a UK show.

I don't think it's "compromising artistic integrity" to tailor the show to a different audience.

There's no such thing as an ORIGINAL idea. Every story draws from another. American audiences have a different taste in humor because our societies differ. I hope they're different.

    Apples to Oranges

  • @sydneymviera Yeah our societies idea of humor and entertainment is The Jersey Shore! That's definitely a factor as to why its not appealing here ... just saying!

  • I don't see why everyone is getting so upset. If you don't like a version of the show don't watch it. Honestly I prefer the original UK versions. I think a big factor in bringing them over is money, but I also think that most Americans don't have access to the UK versions, and don't know about the great original versions, or find it hard to understand the originals and the British sense of humor. That being said, I find I really enjoy Shameless.

  • @Shinjimae agreed, shameless is a great series, both UK and US versions are targeted to different audiences. People in North America do not always get UK humor and the same goes with the UK towards north America. Both series are great and bring something different. ether way kudos goes to the original creators for coming up with a great idea for a show.

  • I love how all the butt-hurt English rip on the US for buying UK shows. WIthout us you'd have NO good movies to watch!!! (well except Snatch)

  • I can't understand. If US tv shows are so good, why can't they stop copying UK's ?

  • @resoprint If UK shows are so good, why do they keep selling the rights to their shows to the US? OK I know the UK has some great television, that was more or less a joke, but the US can't make a remake a show without the permission of the original show's creators. So instead of blaming the US why don't you blame the creators, they are the ones compromising their artistic integrity for a few extra bucks.

  • @mercuryisnowahoax Cos they need money to make new awesome tv shows. It's simple, Uk has the skill, US has the money (or should we say HAD since those few days ?)

  • @resoprint I can't understand. If UK's tv shows are so good, why do people care when they get remade in the US?

  • @DCshirley Lol us random people in the UK tend to be very attached and defensive of our TV shows, it think thats why people get so up in arms when UK ones are remade in the US... Especially when you see what they did with Life on Mars. I love the UK shameless its one of the best comedy shows Ive ever watched and I just started the uS one today and although I like the UK more Im still enjoying the US version, as It sticks to the spirit of the original whilst adapting it for our different cultures

  • You guys are arguing over a TV show.

    Sigh.

  • Muahahaaa. You guys are not from this planet... the uk version is genuine, perfect, and the acting is very natural. I didnt see the us version, but the trailer was repulsive. The original Frank cant be replaced.

  • @MamfSTN I absolutely agree with you! I actually came across the US version first and thought the show looked disgusting but after hearing about the original UK version and seeing this trailer it looks far better! British television is genuine, there is a reason why I watch it here in Cali! lol

  • @MamfSTN This looks TERRIBLE. The U.S. version is waaay better. I hate the way they filmed this. It's too bright and the camera quality is awful.

  • BAD ACTING ??? what!! no way, NONE could play Frank better then he does. THAT is good acting. Americans can shove their version up their asses!!!

  • I'm sorry guys but the US version just rocks and your .. well .. doesn't. Really looks like a parody. Like a theater. Not what i'm looking for. Gotta say had the same opinion about "being human". The english versions are just too non-serious. Thank God there are americans, and thanks americans for makin all the awesome shows you're doing. Big TV Shows watcher here.

  • @matrix6x ahahahahaha

in your dream man in your dream!!

american shameless is just a COPY....no good no bad...just a COPY

and like most of them its AMERICAN GARBAGE...

  • @fabricioteidy Like I said i'm a big tv shows watcher (about 40-50 tv-shows). Some would say get a life but the tv shows are a part of it. My opinion about remaking a tv-show is that it's stupid, especially if copying 90%. But being human changed my mind. I've watched the pilot for UK and the pilot for US. The UK version was unserious, a theatre, seemed like actors couldn't handle their roles. It's the same thing for Shameless. Don't just say "it's bad", explain why it's bad.Find arguments.

  • @matrix6x Couldnt agree with you more. I m from Turkey, so I m completely objective about it but its just.. Its exactly what you say, British people ruin tons and tons of sweet ass script material with terrible acting/directing. I had watched the first two series before I watched the US version and I could not spot a single scene where I could say 'Hmm the British did a better job here'. I m not trolling, just stating the obvious, watch the pilot for 15 minutes and you ll be convinced.

  • @matrix6x I agree with you 100%

  • NAME OF THE SONG PLEASE????

  • Seen this show...its good but I like the U.S one better

  • I'm a fan of the American version, but I don't see the appeal of this. If this didn't come first I would say this is a poor parody of the American Version. Our cultures are different in a way that makes me find this off.

  • @sleepyduo37

    I totally agree with you.

I don't understand how this version earned a BAFTA; but then again, I'm American.

  • FIRST!!!!!

I never could see the British version (because i cant find it), but the US VERSION ROCKS!
