While I appreciate the information supplied here, I can hardly see past the text plastered over nearly the entire video. I can read about perches on plenty of sites on the internet, but when I look for information on video, I want to see the video. The speaker here is trying to show the audience several different samples of perches, none of which are clearly visible. Expert Village, please do away with the text, or at least put together a video that adds one or two lines of text at a time.
@wiz8mom these people know nothin crazy people they say they smart but they really dumbbbbbbbbb never listen to them these fools research online there are some nice sites and decent vids rate up
Hi Madeline, thanks for explaining natural timber perches (as opposed to the problematic rope perches which should NOT be used). I already use natural perches with my two cockatiels. I've also been advised by my avian vet not to use calcium perches. One thing though, wouldn't closet rod (dowel ?) be a uniform circumference, thus not being good for the birds' feet ?
ok lenurfan123 ummm she was just showing that the bird can hangout and they like that because they think they are flying and i bet u dont know alot about birds i do ok so just to let u know :)
I didn't know that that happens to their feet. I'm planning on buying my two cockatiels an even bigger cage and put more branches. So they can play around more. I like to spoil them >.<
Name the parrots in the video! (woot) from the left: Double or yellow headed amazon, rose breasted cocaktoo, blue throated macaw (much harder to find! Your so lucky!) and Severe or Illegers Macaw can't tell... Hahah.
Thank you for this video. Nice to get some appropraite feedback regarding bird perches; in this case, cockatiels. Nice to see your avian friends nearby. Awesome!
Thanks! Very helpful!

I read sand perches are bad and make your bird have sore feet.

If you choose to make your own bird perches, be sure to choose bird safe woods.
Ash and Poplar Dowels are good choices.
Oak is not because some varieties can be harmful to birds.
Pine may or may not be acceptable depending on curing method and pitch content.
