This scene used to really upset me, ive not seen this for years and thought of it what made me almost cry back then just came back to me and i teared up, I'M A 42 YEAR OLD MAN!! It used to upset me because back then when i saw it i really thought he had actually hurt himself, and on one scene he would blub, i almost wanted to blub with him!
LMAO! I was always sad for him, but watching this now I got that squeaky, breathless 90 year old man laugh, (I'm a 35 year old woman) Thank you, thank you!!!
To me, this was a strange childhood visual from back then......seeing this poor guy fall in humility. Amazing to revisit the memory and see it posted. Thnks!
ROFL! Priceless comedy...I'm 45 and this still gets me giggling. It's no small wonder this guy didn't break his friggin' neck taking one of those wonderful tumbles, though. xD
This is my second favorite Sesame Street clip ("Pockets" is 1st). It is so funny at the end but like someone commented it is a waste of food I do agree; we do not waste food or clothing. Good clips like this need to be kept on Sesame Street. Jim Henson is the annoucing voice at the end and now I know who the baker is (Alex Stevens).
WOW that was a memory JOLT ! Flew right out way way back of my brain I started jumping up and down in my chair laughing and said wait I'm 45 years old ! Not 3 . Sesame Street came out in 1969 when I was 3 years old I remember that Baker falling I jumped up and down laughing thinking it was the funniest thing I ever saw. I forgot for a second I'm a full grown Man now LOL
When the baker fell down the stairs after droppping the 2 chocolate cream pies, he's looking up the stairs & scratching his head like "What the hell happened?"
I am in my early 40s, and I still get a kick out of these priceless classics. Thanks for posting NUMBER 1 as well. The number 1 should never be overlooked, even though counting to one is the easiest thing to do. The series with the baker falling should be brought back, without the politically correct elite idiots crying about how dangerous those falls were.
If you look at it carefully, you will see that he is actually walking down the stairs normally, with crashing sounds accompanying him, and he kneels down at the bottom of the stairs and drops his stuff. So, he's perfectly safe. However, I think the #4 one looks pretty real.
awww poor guy he was so proud of himself cus he declared his food and everything. I feel bad for him..... its okay man, im sure they were all delicious
Even to this day, funny as ALL get out! That baker falling down all the time and all the desserts all over the place and a huge mess to boot! A laugh riot every time!
@robshaps i'm nearly 40 and it seems like this guy couldnt take one step, not even with the wedding cake, without falling! i betcha this guy is a janitor now, cleaning up messes like this! LOL or is a paraplegic!!! LMFAO!!!
If I had been around in the show's early days, I would've loved to have seen still shots of Alex at the end of an episode. One of him standing at the top of the stairs holding the "Sesame Street" sign, and the other of him sitting on the floor at the bottom holding the "Children's Television Workshop" logo; not necessarily with dropped pastries around him, though.
That sounds alot like Frank Oz.

@MrRadishhead I did some research, and found that Jim Henson actually did dub the voice in post production.

Spilling a whole group of desserts is not wanted when for real.
For spilling a whole group of desserts, as long as it's 100% fake, falling down the stairs is not wanted when in real life.
The best thing for America to do is to use drop zones plus "Family Feud" mushroom-style buzzers.
