There used to be a show on NHK called Music FAIR. Most of the time, what I've seen of it, the performances weren't really anything to write home about. The atmosphere on the program was kinda sterile, which may have led to the rather mechanical nature of many of the performances.
How could a mere human being write a song this beautiful? Maybe there really IS a Shonen Knife Planet, populated by creatures more intelligent than we, and three of them teleported here to give us the "u-u-ultra eccentric, super cult, punk-pop band: SHONEN KNIFE!!" It's part of that planet's secret initiative to advance the intelligence and elevate the consciousness of more primitive planets - like ours.
Such a great song and one of my favorite Shonen Knife ones of all time. I've seen them so many times live and I just wish that for once Naoko would just do this solo with an Acoustic Guitar. Great job on the video and I loved the photos at the end!

I have always liked this song and I have always wondered what the "Music Square" referred to in the lyrics is. A friend of mine said maybe an amusement park. Is that it?
I always imagined it was a park where people would come to play music. Like an open stage atmosphere. I imagine the singer listening to others play (falling in love with the music) and just waiting for her own chance to play her song. It's a beautiful song. So simple and sincere.
@latice i could be wrong but i think its a place in a city park where local bands go on the weekend to set up and play for whomever. not a great fan of this band but this song is great.

Incredibly annoying melts into campy, campy gives way to realizing a really good song. Harmonica!
