  • I didn't expect to see the attached wire in a "square" shape. It will be interesting to see how this turns out! :)

Can you add a number to your title? (Like "1 of 6" & "2 of 6" etc.) (Then I know how many to look for:)

    Thanks!

    BOP

  • This is awesome :D Im really thank ful for you making your tutorials on this.

If I may ask. Where do you usually get your feathers?

  • @MikaXNakashima rainbowfeathers(dot)com

  • hes gay

  • kitties like " i watch you now" lol

  • Your cat it is so kawaii!!! ^_^ I like your tutorial!!! I wanna eat you!!! HURRAY!!!!!!

  • For me, chicken wire is more dangerous than pliers or a handsaw.... The corners are so sharp *_*

  • u use alot of duct tape haha

  • question, do you HAVE to use chicken wire, or will something else work? if so, what material(s)?

  • @fullmetalaang96 I guess you don't HAVE to use chicken wire, but I'm not sure what you would use instead.

  • @tusense Buckram would probably be a good substitute, it is softer and can be cut with sewing scissors. :)

  • @fullmetalaang96

I wouldn't use chicken wire. You can get heavy fabric and soak it in something like a solution of glue and water. Lay it out flat when it's wet and it will dry stiff and flat. Just never wash it and the glue won't dissipate.

  • @fullmetalaang96 Use what's available. There steel wire and copper wire that can work just as well

  • love that "don't blame me when you get hurt" lol

  • ur cats having fun watching the thing on the end of the fishing wire :3

  • but do u have to use chicken wire?

  • @MaximumMik6325 I guess you don't HAVE to use chicken wire, but I'm not sure what you would use instead.

  • OMG THANK U!!!!!!! THIS HELPS ME SO MUCH 4 MY COSPLAY IN 3 WEEKS!!!!!!! ((im going 2 b maximum ride)) THIS IS SO HELPFUL & DETAILED I LUV IT & THANK U SO MUCH!!!!!!! :D

  • You are a girl right?

  • Are these wings good to make Dragon Wings? because Im makeing a dragon costume and I need good wings like yours :(

  • @howrse155 You can use the same basic idea for dragon wings and just use a different material instead of feathers.

  • kitteh! :D

  • Nice work! One word of warning though, things like fishing wire are so very dangerous to cats who swallow them. It wraps around their intestines, causing perforations and blockages. Many cats have died from ingesting such things, so it's best to keep them out of kitty's reach.

    Love the wings!!!!

  • You're totally cute!!! Great vid!

  • I made a pair of wings with some chicken wire and copper tubbing, but with the ductaping the sharp edges, I just cut off the sharp edges so there is no point to cut you with ( but I shaped my feathers to a sharp point, so it jabbed people who ran into me Q _Q ) But this tutorial makes me happy inside, I've been wanting to make a pair of folding wings. <3

  • do u want the string to b tight when u loop it around?

  • Should be tight when the wing is at the widest point that you want and loose when it is folded. The string is just for a guestimate at this point in the process anyway,so don't worry too much about it

  • alright sweet me and my Nay-san are gona make owers either this week end or next week end CANT WAIT TILL THERE FINISHED though im ight do a differnt disign otehr then fethers :P

  • Your sword could use a little touch up, search risachantag's metal texture tutorial in google. ^_^

  • the caaaat :D

  • Im glad i live in west virginia u can get this stuff everywhere lol

  • that cat is agzactly like my cat my cats name is SYLVESTER

  • what are the sizes of the wire and your sticks? I don't have a dry rack and so I need to make the whole frame out of nothing.. soo.. what are the sizes of everything? PLEASE REPLY! I need it for school and it need to be done in one till two weeks..!!

  • wooooo you uploaded it on my birthday lol and how long does it take to make the wings

  • It depends. It could take you a week. It could take you two months. It depends on whether you have all the materials, whether things break along the way, how much time you have to devote to it, etc.

  • hmm can you make some wings that are longer and clean cut on the edges? im gonna have an angel suit(fallen >:3) for halloween this year so i need some longer ones

  • Yes, that is possible. it all depends on your frame. I am making longer, straighter wings for a cosplay soon. I will be sure to film it all again.

  • duct tape solves all X3

  • another hint... if you dont have gloves... you can put duct tape over the edges temporarily to cover the open ends...then take it off when you dont need it there anymore...

  • ooo good idea. I should have done that. My poor hands...

  • lol. the wings turned out great though. maybe you should get some protective wear to use while making pieces that deal with sharp/heavy items to protect yourself while working with them(such as chicken wire).

it helps also if your costume doesnt have covered hands in the final part, otherwise you go around with scratches and such... but hey... that tends to be a good conversation starter xD

  • omg cute kitty ...

  • Thanks oodles for posting!

Don't know when I might cosplay a character with wings but this is still really helpful

  • no problem

  • Pst. Bolt cutters cut it faster. haha. I learned my lesson a long time ago trying to get down there with actual wire cutters. I could cut 4' in just a few minutes with bolt cutters.

  • Ah man, wish I knew this sooner. I'll remember this for later, thanks.

  • does the wire has to be square??

i'm so sorry that i'm asking u so many question...

  • If you mean the chicken wire, no.

  • thanks

  • Your cat is adorable! =O

  • lol thanks

  • ^ ^

  • Heyz- I have a question... How do your wings fold up? Do they naturally go that way after the fishing wire is taut?

  • When the fishing wire is taut they are extended out as far as they go. So when I'm NOT pulling on the string, i.e. just walking around, the string naturally relaxes and the wings just fold in.

  • wow thats alot of work 0_0 but your wings were awsome

  • Thanks ^^ It was a TON of work

  • i bet. but they were hella awsomenesss :D
