FMIC has longer pipes in turn the turbo spools slower, a TD04 turbo spools from 2k rpm to 5.5rp and with extra added lag id say the TD04 spools at 3.5k to 5.5k so the kid needs to dawn shift but he doesnt kno better, that is why you should never race a child or grandma...

i have an 04 wrx and raced an s2k on the highway blew him away we didnt think he was even racing then he wanted to go from a dig pshhh not a chance. I love s2ks but there not fast stock or slightly modded they need more.

It has wider tires than the WRX on the front and rear. So no, stock for stock the S2000 wins. But whereas you can throw 1000 bucks at the WRX and get an extra 50-75hp, you can't do that on the S2000. If you plan on modding your car, then yes, the WRX is better. Oh the WRX has cloth seats, the s2000 has leather.
Revs higher because it has 100 less torque. It's max HP comes in at 8,000 RPM and wider tires do not matter because WRX never loses grip because of AWD. Now if you read my comment, I never say WRX is faster, I say it's better which it is. You can drive it anywhere. On mountain roads, you don't have to keep revving high because of low torque like on the S2k. On a drag race, you don't lose traction. Oh, the cloth seats in the WRX are there to keep you in place. Leather is slippery.

@yuning83 Depending on what you want to use it for the WRX can be better than that STi. I don't know if you have ever driven an STi but the gears are crazy close. And plus the STi has a fly by wire system which makes it a bit of a pain to tune. Personally I prefer the 02-03 WRX they are the lightest and they are simple to work on. And if you swap out the gears to a straight cut then you have a great gear set for drag racing. But hey to each is own. I for one just prefer the WRX. To each is own.

@yonkersracing an uPgraded toP mount is dumb. all toP mounts heat soak because there isnt enough. air flow. getting a front mount is the only resonable thing to do.

i have an 04 wrx and raced an s2k on the highway blew him away we didnt think he was even racing then he wanted to go from a dig pshhh not a chance. I love s2ks but there not fast stock or slightly modded they need more.

Compare S2K to WRX :
- S2K : 240hp 2800lb,
- WRX : 227hp 3140lbs,
- weight advantage is for S2K also.
- The WRX has more torque but once u know that "horsepower = torque x rpm / 5252" and u know that S2K can rev to 9k, WRX only 6k, ....
S2K will always win, when they start from 0 > not in beginning when S2K has low revs (and WRX has more grip also AWD), but it wont take long before S2K can see WRX in his rear view mirror :)

If you dont know the point being made (and it looks like you dont) is that when comparing performance it is one of Engineering comparisons (NOT Value).
Engineering comparisons takes consideration of induction and displacement disparity (not $ value)
As the N/A powered Impreza will not be anyway as close to a S2000 (as the S2000 will be to a Turbo WRX) means
1) the WRX is relying on its Turbo to be fast &
2) the S2000 has better engineering.

For your information a Gallardo has an engine diplacing 5 litres and your comparing this to an S2000 that has only 2litres!!
Thats not really comparing engineering (which im focusing on) since the displacement is the disparity here (not to mention weight and traction disparity).
In any case if we are to normalise this we should compare at least compare the Gallardo to an S2000 with also a 5.0Ltr engine.
I doubt the S2000 will be a push over as you suggest.

Well in this particular case, the S2k won. We don't know how modded each of the cars were. Stock for stock, the wrx is a better car hands down.

@USGiorgi Are you stupid? The S2000 has more Horsepower, and revs higher. So when the WRX has to shift into second, the S2000 is still in first. While the WRX is AWD, the S2000 is RWD. It has wider tires than the WRX on the front and rear. So no, stock for stock the S2000 wins. But whereas you can throw 1000 bucks at the WRX and get an extra 50-75hp, you can't do that on the S2000. If you plan on modding your car, then yes, the WRX is better. Oh the WRX has cloth seats, the s2000 has leather.

Revs higher because it has 100 less torque. It's max HP comes in at 8,000 RPM and wider tires do not matter because WRX never loses grip because of AWD. Now if you read my comment, I never say WRX is faster, I say it's better which it is. You can drive it anywhere. On mountain roads, you don't have to keep revving high because of low torque like on the S2k. On a drag race, you don't lose traction. Oh, the cloth seats in the WRX are there to keep you in place. Leather is slippery.

But hell my WRX the way it is right now would stomp a mud hole in an STi lol. In fact I think my WRX is one of the fastest street legal WRX's in my area. None are even close, so I would say it just depends on what is done to the car really.

Again, like I said, majority of people don't buy wrx because it can be made fast. It's because it's a good daily. This is different from people who buys STI and S2000 or any other pure sports car that are advertised solely for the purpose of havnig fun. I'm not taking away the fact you made yours fast, but at the end of the day it's still a wrx.

@yuning83 Depending on what you want to use it for the WRX can be better than that STi. I don't know if you have ever driven an STi but the gears are crazy close. And plus the STi has a fly by wire system which makes it a bit of a pain to tune. Personally I prefer the 02-03 WRX they are the lightest and they are simple to work on. And if you swap out the gears to a straight cut then you have a great gear set for drag racing. But hey to each is own. I for one just prefer the WRX. To each is own.
