Man, Tad is great. My favorite band. Why do you need to sell a billion copy's of your records that have music that sounds cheesy and meaningless on it when you could be having fun, making music YOU want to make, and still making a living out of it? I know that's what i'd rather do!
Check out Tad's new band BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH. He's playing doom metal now, and they're darn good. My partner and I have been capturing them on video the last couple shows with multiple cameras.
It's good that he didn't go mainstream because to do that you need to compromise your sound nowadays, not because mainstream bands are criticized and defiled, who gives a shit about what other people think, if you care that's your problem.
I think that the glory of TAD and grunge bands in general. They didn't care about their image. No one cared, thats what made it one of those moments in rock when everything was perfect.

There were a lot of bandwagon jumpers, and a lot of people would say - as in the great film Singles - that not having a style was a style, but I think 15 years on, comparing with all the stuff that has come later on, it's pretty safe to say that a lot of these bands in fact were less image-driven than bands of today.

Been obscure is of little benifit to the band scruzme. Tad just wanted to make their music and make a decent living doing it. Don't like them for being obscure. Love them for being brilliant!
