Well we've had a lot of those years... but I remember being only 5 watching us choke away a 3-1 lead to the Devils, and then Stevens giving Lindros another concussion, and then NJ wins the cup...
thts wat the fuckin avs get for beating the wings 2 years in a row.
dale hunter tht asswip and claude lemiuex will nvr be forgiven for everything hes done to us.
its good seein them lose. too bad the stars didnt win the cup but, belfour and brodeour was a great goalie faceoff and hey it went to 7 games so it had to be a good series.
If you look closely at the :47 mark. You can see a guy slip and fall on the ice. He is on the lower right side of the rink along the boards. I think he is a reporter or rink personal?
yeah thesew original stars and avs jerseys were great. the reebok jerseys they have now just look like crap. the stars jerseys now look a mix between football and basketball jerseys. They should have at least kept their jerseys the same like what was done with the Hawks and Devils.
Avs fan here - lot of great games between these two teams back in the day. I'm glad that back in the day - for a period of about six years at least - every team that beat Colorado in the playoffs went to the Finals except for Edmonton in 98. Hurt to lose game 7 this year but 01 made up for it....
Feels kind of unusual to have Colorado and Dallas sitting at home for the playoffs.
everytime i hear him do the play by play wit jim jackson i remember the good ol days on espn looking forward to see it again on espn starting 2009-2010
I can do without Clement. He always states the obvious. I mean, listen to his "expert opinion" at the end...ridiculous. Now, Gary Thorne...he's a fucking legend as far as hockey goes. Yes, bring hockey back on ESPN!
I was at game 6 at the AAC this past year against the Ducks and the Sharks, and it finally got as loud as reunion, but I loved the setup at reunion, everyone so close together, very intimidating
as far as intimidating horns and horns that give u the chills if your the opposing team, its got to be edmontons rexall place......but in a close second is dallas and then buffalo......best horns ever
Savor these classic Reunion Arena moments, because the city of Dallas is going to demolish the building really soon. It's really sad because I went to my very first (and only so far) NHL game at Reunion, and boy, that place was loud!
That's probably because ESPN and the NHL parted on somewhat nasty terms when their last contract ran out. Were I NHL commish,I'd never let my league go back there. Why? Well,ESPN has this habit of tarding everything it touches.
I agree ESPN is more about promoting itself rather than any of the actual sports. But ESPN reaches far more homes than Versus. I do miss Gary Thorne calling games.
1. If you're going to get a national TV contract, you can't go wrong with USA Network. They have a sports presence, they used to do the NHL back in the day,AND-as part of NBC Universal-can be cross promoted like crazy. You can't say that about Versus.
2. Like it or not, hockey's always going to remain a regional sport(Canada and northern climes),with some exceptions. Do I want more people to watch? Yes. But it's not happening anytime soon.
As if you haven't notice already,ESPN tards everything it touches. Were I the commish,I'd never all the NHL to be a blight on Bristol ever again, knowing how bad my league got jammed the last time ESPN held the contract to air NHL games.
99 Game 7 was a lot more exciting and louder than this game (I was at both) but that's just me. Then again, we had just clinched our first trip to the finals so I guess it is to be expected.
What a run our team had back in the late 90s and early 2000s.
I concur completely. Gary Thorne's commentating could get to watch the two most boring teams in hockey. He was always able to make it sound exciting. Mike Emrick does a hell of a job too, but I grew up listening to Thorne on ESPN.
This i love the pyro i wish i could go back to these days

@tmillz331 That's because Belfour was busy stealing that game from them and just had no answer.

The AVS should have won against Dallas 1999 and 2000,Colorado got the better team and the Stars got lucky!
Forcepro21 2 years ago
It's not about luck when you play a best of 7-series. In one game it might be, but not when you need 4 wins.

Is it just me, or did the goal horn sound better at Reunion Arena than it does at the AAC?
redscare35 3 years ago
it sounded much better at The Reunion Arena.
thehitman88 3 years ago
The roof was lower to the ice at Reunion. It made everything much louder.

Yeah, a little bit, not much. Im still looking for the goal horn from when the Stars first use, when they came to Dallas. I cant find it anywhere.
