I wonder what the creators of this weapon would think if they could get to see not only how important their brainchild was to machine gun technological development, but that their creation is so well-respected by the people it once was aimed against?
Fact is....this is a just plain stupid, and typically over engineered "Deutch" weapon. High rate of fire, that is very hard to control, with a system for switching out barrels every 250 rounds. Thank God Deutchlanders didn't get the idea of the Gatling multi barrel. D-Day may have gone alot worse.
You don't need a barrel change that soon unless you fire non-stop. Sorry, I disagree about it being a "stupid" design and so do a lot of weapon developers.
I accidentally erased a comment of someone calling you a dumbass for calling it Hitler's Hammer. Well, that dumbass should have researched it before calling you a dumbass. It was called "Hitler's Zipper".

Yeah, the MG42 is stupid, that is probably why most modern MGs were derived from it.
RudolfMaister 3 years ago 5
the MG42 is stupid? ask ANY verteran of WW2 and he will tell you when an MG went off, ALL HEADS WENT DOWN.
Southern661 3 years ago 6
Wow. If the MG42 was so stupid, why did they make an almost EXACT copy of it so it could still be used today? (MG3)
TheTarheelsofHalo 2 years ago 3
Not only that but the M60 GPMG is a result of some of that engineering. The MG42 was and still is one of the best MGs ever developed.
mxwelch 2 years ago
umm actually u chane the barrel after every 1000 rounds and this is only from non stop shooting
urmomxl9990 2 years ago
Well, only an idiot would fire it for almost a minute without stopping. Crew served weapons are suppossed to last a little longer than that.
mxwelch 2 years ago
@urmomxl9990 no you only have to change the barrel after over heating.

The legendary MG.....funny I talked about it in the Mail I sent you mxwelch :-D
Imported or rebuilded one ? If it´s imported this is really RARE !!!!
But whatever, nice little MG ;-)

I have no idea of the origins but I would suspect it's a rebuild. No way some guy is going to let people put rounds through an original all day.
And my comment about "Hitler's Zipper" was based on what many G.I.s called it.
