@idiotzrule I don't like it's first gear. It's too short, too light and with 177.000km in 2.5 year time you can see that the first gear is a bit ,worn out. From 2nd or 3rd gear to 1st isn't easy going;)

(talking about my beemer) Anyways I thought I was driving my accord, because the gearing is so different on both cars. The one thing I like about the beemer is it slows down more when i let go of the gas, but my honda takes forever to slow down, it feels like it's not even slowing down at all.

0:34 - Look at the steering wheel airbag. Proving you don't need to get hit by the airbag to be protected by it, you only need to hit it once it's fully inflated. That's a car I'd put a 16 year old, brand new driver in. Probably a 2006, 2007 - new ones are probably pricey.
BMWs are the safest cars I know. My brother got his stuck on the railroad tracks, and a train hit it. It was messed up pretty bad. I mean damn, it got hit by a train. You could only imagine. But if you looked on the inside, you couldn't even tell it had been hit, or even touched. If my brother had been in it. He would have not had anything wrong with him, not even a scratch. It's a VERY safe car

this crash test is very important, you see the door is un-damaged, in the case of an engine explosion or fire (very very very likely in ALL cars, even bmws) you can exit this car immediately. whereas if the door is damaged you will be trapped

i saw a head on collision with a new 2008 bmw with like a little toyota or somthing a couple years ago and the both cars were trashed but the lady in the bmw was completely fine and walked away and her baby in the back but the man in the toyota broke his leg and had to got to the hospital with probably more than a broken leg

All test are done in the same environment, so a heavy American car has the same chance as a small European car. If it was rough asphalt I believe the test would show the cars to be safer, the added friction and grip of asphalt.

Cars have been doing better and better on these tests over the years. The truth is that modern cars are better built to prevent injuries. I was in an 06' 325i in my first accident against stone wall at 40MPH.
Both my passenger and myself were absolutely fine. Aside from the first minutes after impact we both experienced disorientation but physically the air bags (and side curtain airbags) that deployed did not injure our face. We had a bit of redness. Our family was shocked to see that we did not suffer some kind of concussion or black eyes.
I will never drive a car that is NOT German. BMW for life, to save mine. :-)
@boyuchuadaniel because even if it's a front impact, the passengers will still bounce off the steering wheel airbag to the sides. It also protects from shattering glass.
I was rear ended back in early 2008 in a 2007 BMW 328i sedan. I, for one, was not hurt nor have any signs of whiplash. The F-150 that rear ended me was going about 13-15 MPH. His bumper had more damage than my car. The car did great! However, this test wasn't performed right. My head restraint was in the right position and everything. BMW did a great job engineering this vehicle

My friend was in a crash, hit from behind a long time ago in a 76 2002. He was stopped, and hit by a massive american tank aka a station wagon going around 40mph, sandwhiched in between the lady in the wagon and the car in front of him. This car weighs around 2,300 lbs and this was back in 76, he was perfectly fine. Good thing we have those germans for cars or we would be a mess.

I was in an 06' 325i in my first accident against stone wall at 40MPH.
Both my passenger and myself were absolutely fine. Aside from the first minutes after impact we both experienced disorientation but physically the air bags (and side curtain airbags) that deployed did not injure our face. We had a bit of redness. Our family was shocked to see that we did not suffer some kind of concussion or black eyes.
I will never drive a car that is NOT German. BMW for life, to save mine. :-)

I was rear ended back in early 2008 in a 2007 BMW 328i sedan. I, for one, was not hurt nor have any signs of whiplash. The F-150 that rear ended me was going about 13-15 MPH. His bumper had more damage than my car. The car did great! However, this test wasn't performed right. My head restraint was in the right position and everything. BMW did a great job engineering this vehicle

As for your point that German car companies aren't filing for bankrupcy, it doesn't have to do with the cars, it has to do with the state of economy of the two countries. No doubt America is in a rough time right now, but we are still producing cars of great quality.

My point therefor is that the carmakers which produce better cars will continue to make profits even in these tough times. European carmakers have been anticipating what people want for years, that's why they are doing reasonably well. As opposed to US carmakers which focussed too much on the US market and ignoring the rest of the world.

But when the gasprices went through the roof and people sought to buy economical cars, the big three had nearly nothing to offer. That's when the Asian and Europeans started to sell economical cars. And because the US cars were too impractible and geared towards the american market, they didn't sell overseas unlike the Euro cars.

My friend was in a crash, hit from behind a long time ago in a 76 2002. He was stopped, and hit by a massive american tank aka a station wagon going around 40mph, sandwhiched in between the lady in the wagon and the car in front of him. This car weighs around 2,300 lbs and this was back in 76, he was perfectly fine. Good thing we have those germans for cars or we would be a mess.
