  • this was a studio production about 17 yrs ago....I was introduced to this song on the LA based radio show AFTER MIDNIGHT with blair garner ...he first played this song by allison krause, then after a they came up with a studio mix pairing allison with keith, the original performer....an excellant pairing of 2 greats

  • Thank you for this pairing of two country greats, I think both of there voices are amazing. Most people dont even know that Keith Whitley is the original singer of this song, so sad to lose such an artist to alcohol.

  • My wife and I renewed our vows to each other with this version. Thank you MAMsMom97. I took the time to learn Keith's part so I could sing it to my wife during our vows. Thank you again for postings this. Keith and his family our always in our prayers.

  • Plus one thumbs up!!!

  • Confusion? : Wiki: Jackie Keith Whitley (July 1, 1954 — May 9, 1989), known as Keith Whitley, an American country music singer. Whitley's career lasted from 1984 until his death in 1989, He influences a generation of singers and songwriters. He charted nineteen singles on the Billboard country charts, including five consecutive Number Ones: "Don't Close Your Eyes", "When You Say Nothing at All", "I'm No Stranger to the Rain", "I Wonder Do You Think of Me" , "It Ain't Nothin'". Right enough

  • nice job on this video"... i wish keith whitley was still here putting out music to the world... hes so missed.. and god bless him... allison krauss did a fine job with it,, though noone will ever replace Keith".. he was truly a country gem" that was one of a kind:)

  • I can't remember but I guess Keith had already left us when before Allison sang it, but it is nice to imagine the two of them acutally singing this as a duo. Clearly I was and still am a Keith Whitley fan and have always loved the Allison Krauss/Union Station sound.

  • I like the End its like his Angel is flying away while singing :)

  • keith whitley = randy travis

  • so great i love it!!!!

  • allison sucks!

  • Keith was married to Lorrie Morgan when he died. This is a composite of Allison singing along to the song after Keith died. I think it's the best version of the song.

  • I think of my grandfather when I listen to this song. Every time it came on the radio and crank it up.

  • Did these two singing this song together actually happen? Because if not, I can't think of any better way that these two could've been combined.

I've always wondered how a duet of this song would sound, and it is even better than I imagined. If this was all editing, I give you my two thumbs up.

  • IM drinking wine and eating cheese while listening to this.just when i though i could feal any better,im about to jizz in my pants.

  • Two words...'Awe' and 'some' (Awesome!) ;)

  • It's a shame that they never got to really do a duet on this song...

  • He had a wonderful voice ..... it's sad how he left us, his beautiful wife Lorrie and his kids.

  • The BEST "Duet" in music history! The way the engineers dubbed their voices and music together is awesome! I was only 10-years-old when Keith died but his music still lives on.

  • keith whitley was a beautiful man with a beautiful song in his heart. my husband and i enjoyed his music. we listened to it over and over again. today, nov. 18th. 2011, was the 22nd. anniversary of our first date. we married on feb. 14th., 1992. he died on mar. ,6th., 2003. we were together over 13 years. i miss him so much.

  • i really love this song, it always puts tears in my eyes, especially since my husband died

  • were keith whitley and alison krauss ever married yes or no cause i want to know if they were?

  • @animegirlluver05 Alison Krauss is 8 months younger than me. She would have been only 17 when Keith passed away. Keith was married twice, never to Alison.

  • @MAMsMom97 - A simple no would have sufficed.

  • @animegirlluver05

No, Keith Whitley was married to Lorrie Morgan.

  • @animegirlluver05 keith was married to lori morgan until just shortly before he died.

  • @animegirlluver05 NO! Keith was married to Lorrie Morgan at the time of his death.

  • @animegirlluver05 They were not married. Keith Whitley was married to Lorrie Morgan when he passed away.

  • @animegirlluver05 Keith was married to Lori Morgan, wrote all his songs about her, and hera bout him. Keith died from an alchohal poisining incident where his family went to go get dressed to take him golfing, and returned to find him face down in bead not breathing when they got back, very sad. Keith was 35 when he died, as I recall

  • @animegirlluver05 Keith was married to Lori Morgan, the pic of them together is at the beginning of the video. Very sad she lost him and sad for the music world too...RIP Keith Whitley.

  • @animegirlluver05

They just went on the road.

  • @animegirlluver05 NO AND KIETH DIED IN 1989 HE WAS MARRIED TO LORI MORGAN...

  • Comment removed

  • @animegirlluver05 Yes everyone who sings a duet is automatically

  • @animegirlluver05 No. Keith was married to Lorrie Morgan.

  • @animegirlluver05 She was married to Pat Bergeson, for 4 years, she has a son, Sam and now is single for a long time. But then, she keeps her private live very private. But the combination of voices is nice, country and bluegrass. It works very well, I think. Always underestimated Krauss, but she keeps a low profile while she did some amazing work.

  • @animegirlluver05 Never.

  • @animegirlluver05 no, they were never married. He was married to Lorrie Morgan.

  • @animegirlluver05 nope i believe keith was dead when they mashed up this version of the song

  • really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing, love that song

  • Damn, this is a great song.

  • song always gives me chills. one of the greatest duets ever! Ron paul 2012

  • hello 240p we meet again

  • @BamBam2011ism Okay whats with the 240p we meet again? I've seen it many times now and I dont understand!

    LOVEEE this song!! <3333

  • @BamBam2011ism This was uploaded 3 years ago. If you were here on YouTube then, we uploaders didn't have a choice to upload material in higher res, so close your eyes and enjoy the music.

  • the info above says that this version of the song spread from at least Philadelphia to Albuquerque and, while this may be where it was played the most, the first time I heard it was on a radio program based out of Los Angeles ... have never forgotten it ... it was this song that introduced me to Keith Whitley's music and I'm still a fan

  • This version always brings a tear to my eyes.

  • i know my husband like no one else and when he looks at me and smiles it just says everything that words couldnt even begain to explain and this song means everything to me cause it fits me and my husband to a tee i love you hunny

  • Simply AWESOME!!!

  • duet made in heaven

  • rip in peace man, great song keith yr still alive in the eyes of many people.

  • song brings to life the quote...."let those you know how much you love them.....use words if necissary!"

  • i know my girl inside and out and she doesnt have to speak, its what they're talking about. and we love this song forever! You know who you are!

  • Pretty cool little mix

  • Wow when they sang my heart just melts RIP Keith Whitley !!

  • One Of The Most Beautiful & Romantic Duets Ever....

Two Great Singers combining for Country Magic...

    Miss you Keith...

Dedicated To My Sweet Angel Robby...

All of Me, All My Love 4 Eternity..

    Your Darlin' Cowboy Bob

  • THIS MINGLING OF TWO GREATS IS AWESOME. ALLISON KRAUSS IS THE BEST FEMALE VOCALIST IN OUR TIME.

  • i have been looking for this version everywhere!! i could listen to this song all the time... i love this song so much

  • The first time I heard this version with both of them singing together was in Kansas City on Q104.3. They thought it would be neat to combine them on this song

  • wonder son she mastered, with keith whitley, i love the song always??

  • KUDOS to you Deputydog857, finally someone that feels the same way i do. Not only was he my idol but friend and it hurts to hear those remarks about a man that loved life, his music and his family. Whats wrong with that. He stayed true to Lorrie and their children and was a gifted singer/songwriter in every apsect of the business. Like i said whats done is done, we cant bring him back, the only thing we can do is perserve his memory in a decent way and enjoy his legacy and his music.

  • Did you edit the song, to make it that way, or was it already like this? Either way, I LOVED it!

  • Keith Whitley and Allison Krauss are nothing but the

    Best

  • wow...amazing! great pairing here for sure..

  • the smile on your face lets me know that you need me, theres a truth in ur eyes that saying u'll never leave me, the touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever i fall, yeah you say it best when you say nothing at all....

  • This was beyond words. I loved every note. I remember how sweet and good Keith was as he grew and I remember Alison in the same way. This song is a gift to those of us who value the best.

  • Why would anyone like the writer beneath this comment think that just because Allison Krause and Keith Whitley were put together on a beautiful song he did and she did later think they together could tear apart a good song. A good song can never be torn apart you had both wonderful singers together and yes one has passed on only to leave a lot of us sad. ELVIS was not accepted by the GRAND ole OPERY but billions still follow him. Why not Keith he was a great singer too he was not ELVIS but STILL

  • best song ever reminds me of me and my baby who i love so very much

    RIP KEITH

  • This one to me is the perfect 'two step' and I love it. He may be gone but I will always love hearing his voice and am always on the hunt for more disc's.

  • Never heard of this guy before, But as soon as he hit a note his voice put me in a trance! :O

  • @oooorya Same feeling I had when I first heard Keith twenty years ago. Amazing voice.

  • @moviebandgeek525 thumbs up haha

  • @moviebandgeek525 please don't there is nothing worse than watching idiots that think they can sing tear apart a good song.

    Thumbs down

  • @moviebandgeek525 do it!!

  • @moviebandgeek525 I'll put a thumb up your ass

  • I haven't heard this song in a VERY long time, since I was about 6 or 7years old. It sounds so different! I don't know if it's because I've usually heard separate versions of this song, or if it's because it sounds off-beat. :/ Anyway, this song is sooo beautiful! Definately a song I'd love to dance to at my wedding someday.

  • So very beautiful ~

  • 26 don't what love is or means

  • This is awesome!!! I love ti!!!

  • wow 26 people don't have a heart.. :/

  • I love this song and them 2gether makes it better! i I got married 2 this song and its how we fell and have all was felt about each other

thats was a man who real loved his wife we should all have a love like that

  • I love this song and them 2gether makes it better! i I got married 2 this song and its how we fell and have all was felt about each other

  • Beautiful song agree with you TheMultikey 100%

  • beatufill song

  • i love this song!!! Its my wedding song!!!!!

  • I agree that Jackie Keith Whitley was a phenomenal artist and performer and garnered the acclaim and love of millions. And I truly appreciate your efforts and corrections to the faulty info out there. Tell ya what, though, your back-hand references to Alison being merely "Krauss" this and "Krauss" did this, and so on is Bull "Spit", and my inclination is to cram that type of "spit" down windpipes,in general. Many folks think that Alison is a marvelous artist, who "covered" this song HUGE, woman

  • Most beautiful song on earth, i almost cired!!!

  • ซาบซึ้งมากค่ะ

  • Why would anyone dislike this ?

  • You did a great job of merging the two versions...I'm guessing the Keith version was an analog recording so to get the two versions in tune is an accomplishment in itself. Thanks!

  • Joe and Julies song :)

  • As an update to my last post. I have found a true believer that has helped me get through all of my pain. She requested that his Keiths') remix be played at our wedding. Although my parents were not there in person, they were in spirit, as well as all of my departed loved ones.

  • great vid

  • i love this song

i remember when my dad was still alive and he would listen to the alison krauss version, im almost now and hes been gone for almost 7 years, and this song just reminds me of him and how we listened to it. <3

  • gatopfuelsaver

  • My cousin and her husbands song

  • just learning about keith whitley, his version of this song is better than hers, but the duet is growing on me. How sad, dead before 35, very very sad how alchohal grabs people by the short and curlies.

  • hey i feel your mesage, just wish she could feel the same. i miss her always. dont ever doubt love. if you do it will ruin what you hold dearly. this is a meesage to everybody. this is a true song. dont let love die..............

  • He was SO AWESOME! I was driving home from work when I heard he died and I tell you I could barely see for the tears. I LOVED him SO MUCH!

  • Keith Whitley's voice embodied classic country spirit. Allison's is angelic and the duet is a profound and fitting tribute.

  • This was a great idea to blend these two voices. I love both of their versions, and it is amazing how well they sound together. Thanks for posting!

  • This is mine and my wifes song...... I love you Crystal Isaacs and every word to this song is what I feel in my heart! U r the best thing that has ever happen to me.

  • Too bad they never really did this song together. I love this mix!!

  • this is my mommy & daddy's song & now it's going to be & eric's <3

  • I was in a bar band a few years ago and this was one of the songs we played. It never failed to get couples on the dance floor, our singer had a unique voice and it worked well on this song. I would add a little more bass walking on this one whenever we played it but not too much more, this was always one of my favorites to play and probably my favorite country song, I normally play rock but this song still is one of my favorites, thanks Keith,R.I.P.

  • I heard this on the radio today in the doctor's office,. I almost cried but smiled instead. He is still loved and remenbered.

  • Every time I hear this I get softer. It is a country thing

  • This song make me cry every time I hear it. The best songs and singers are able to do that

  • Country musics Elvis!!!! Untouchable, Nuff said

  • beautiful..always

  • Listening...

    ...and truly enjoying.

    Greatly Appreciated!

  • this is gonna be mine and my boyfriends song at our wedding!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 :D

  • @goldenrose1992 My wife had this song picked as our wedding song too but we went with God bless the broken road by Rascal Flats at the last second. Mainly because of our past relationships got us to meet somehow. She is from North Texas and I am from South Texas and because of our past, our roads crossed at the perfect time. We will have our 1st anni next month and she is already prego. Life is good!! GL guys and your wedding day/nite will be a blurr so take alot of pics and vids.

    R.I.P Keith Whitley

  • beautiful song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keith Whitley is my favorite country singer of all time. And im really more into rock and roll, but i grew up listening to a lot of country. Keith wasnt one if them i growed up to listening to though. I heard his songs on the radio though and loved his music from the get. The first song that got me listening was (IM OVER YOU). from then i was addicted to his sound.

  • Could'nt pick who I liked more, luved both, then I found this duet !!! Awesome

  • I understand why, But its so sad that he has to lay in that double plot grave, alone, for eternity!

  • @cheftom61 wow thats really deep stuff, hmmmm, dont even know what to say about that.. I guess ill say nothing at all.

  • wow lol u guys are arguing over their birth names etc, who cares...

  • The two together is heavenly. Keith you truely are an angel. So is are you Allison. Allison and Union Station put on the best conserts ever!!!

  • I <3 this song forever!!!!! Especially this duet. : )

  • MAMsMom97, thank you so much for posting that MP3 link. I wanted to use this song for our wedding first dance and was really in a time crunch when the DJ said he didn't have a copy and needed me to go find one. Took me three computers to get that to work, but it did and now we are set. Thanks again!!!!

  • What does it matter when he was born...what really matters is what he did when he was here with us.. and this song is the very first song I heard from him so many years ago and I listen to it all the time STILL. This is a song that has a timeless message about being totally in tune with your mate.

This is a timeless classic from birth and ongoing into the future. Been covered by countless people and bands.

All this bio stuff is a personal thing for the family..leave it and them alone.

  • @Zgtrman58 Keith was a public figure, and as a result most of his fans liked to be able to know a little bit more about him. His more loyal fans took exception to all the errors that were made on his bios on the Internet, including me. I am acquainted with most of Keith's family, and I can assure you that they can certainly understand how all the errors have angered some fans. At the same time, his fans do respect his family's privacy, so not to worry.

  • @MAMsMom97 All through the 80's. Keith was an icon, his voice boomed, and ms. Alison did a great service by singing his song.

  • @Zgtrman58 This man singing excellence can/never will be matched by any singer living, or ever will live and take all honors from the dead......

  • This is my wedding song. Thanks for posting it.

  • i have always loved this song and my husband proposed to it!!

  • bellissima interpretazione!!! bella la voce di keith

  • E' troppo bello questo pezzo!!!! mi fa impazzire, bellissima la voce di keith

  • This is just a beautiful mix that would have eventually happened.

  • 24 deaf people hit dislike by mistake... awesome! just magic...

  • 24 ppl dont know very good music

  • by far this is the best duet of all time hands down they sang this song like the stars they are

  • dude.......you were the most talented country singer.......miss that voice God Bless...

  • Ironic--the "Sandy Hook" town sign has "Vote LEWIS Coroner" stapled to the post.

  • keith's solo version is awesome, but this mixed version will put tears in your eyes and give you those feel good chills, it's so haunting.

  • I hear you brother, lost a friend who came home from a deployment only to find his g/f of 5 years had left him a letter and moved her stuff out. She said she couldn't handle being alone. He was due home permanently in 4 more months. He took a whole bottle of Ambien and I found him the next morning and tried CPR even though I knew he was gone (i'm an EMT) but I just couldn't bear to just let him go without trying. The funeral was terrible, she didn't even show up. Bitch was not worth it.

  • @Ranger6385 ...OMG.....what a sad depressing story...I hope that all of my heroes know that there is ALWAYS tomorrow and that things are worse when its dark....sunrise gives you another chance to find what you are missing...you made me cry....poor poor man...and she will get hers.......May he find the peace he was so in need of...and may you also......God bless our soldiers and the people who love them.

  • I love this song, but it wasn't until long after Keith died before I heard it. I didn't even really know of Keith, but I remember when he died. I was on my way to the airport in Hawaii to fly home the morning of when they said on the radio he had been found dead. The co-worker I was with had his girlfriend meet him at the airport when we got home. Two years later almost to the day, he had broke up with this same girlfriend and so he put a 20 gauge shotgun to his chest. WHY CLAY? she wasn't worth

  • whoever doesnt like this song is a piece of shit

  • @stevobamf Especially if they don't like this version

  • Love it!!! :) <3

  • I am going to get this song for my wife--it is us and thanks

  • RIP one of the best country singers

  • Two of the greatest voices, EVER !

  • HE WAS A GREAT SINGER ITS A SHAME HE,S GONE

  • This would've made a great duet if Allison had recorded this song like this instead of doing it as a cover

  • He died way before his time Great performer and Lori Morgan still is

  • @gabsta59 He died of Alcohol Poisoning, in case anyone didn't know

  • Two greats together, their voices perfect for each other! RIP Keith, hope you found the peace you deserve!

  • this song is for my babt christy i love you so much baby you are ever thing to me and I WOULD LOVE IF YOU WOULD BE MY WIFE BABY WILL YOU MARRIE ME I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I PRAY FOR YOU MORE THAN I PRAY FOR MY SELF AND I REALLY WOULD LOVE WAKEING UP NEXT TO YOU EVER MORNING

  • When I first heard this song sung by Alison Krass I fell in love with it. I didn't know anything about Keith Whitley then only that this song had him in it. Now that I've read his bio I see that he was a longtime alcoholic of the worse type and actually died from alcohol poisoning, which is rare for an alcoholic because they have it bulit-up in their system that it normally doesn't happen. Wow, an alcoholic would never think this can happen to them and it can. Sad story, very sad he died in 1989

  • love thyis song always have amazing voices now allison is the queen of bluegrasss fitting love their voices and i heard this on the radio the other day as well

  • Great video, but his name was JESSIE Keith Whitley, not Jackie.

  • @KYBoyCanSurvive Keith's name at birth was indeed Jackie. Jesse (with no "I") is Keith & Lorrie's son. If you need proof, I can email you a copy of the birth announcement written in Mrs. Faye Whitley's hand. Jackie Keith Whitley was born on 7/1/54 at Kings Daughters Hospital in Ashland, KY. Jesse Keith Whitley was born in the summer of 1987 to Jackie Keith Whitley and Loretta Lynn "Lorrie" Morgan. There's a lot of bios on the Internet that are chock full of errors, & I think you fell victim.

  • @MAMsMom97 - his tombstone says 1955, not 1954 - also on IMDB it says his 1st name was Jessie, but that is wrong, it is/was Jackie... thats probably where KYBoyCanSurvive got his info from.

  • @MAMsMom97 Keith is and always will be a legend! I understand his illness just wish Yall did!

  • @MAMsMom97 o shit. that was the very meaning of being owned. haha!

  • If You Like Keith Whitley Check Out My Cover of Do you think of me

  • I love this song. I think Allison Krauss has such a beautiful pure voice.
