IMO a better straight up defensive player and ball stopper than MJ but MJ definitely had him on quickness and rip players and playing the lanes. Funny how they compare to PIP to the Worm. Both became very different players by the end of their careers. Both very successful

I wouldn't think Tim Duncan is overrated since people consider him the best PF ever and the reason for the Spurs dynasty. I mean to be considered better than Barkley and Malone is borderline overrated to be honest, but he has rings so there isn't much of an argument.

That would've been one of the best teams ever. Only problem, Michael Jordan was one of those guys that made everyone around him better, so Pippen may have ended up a bust without him.

Defense is not all about stats. It is about distracting the offensive player mentally and physically. Also getting the offensive player out of his comfort zone. Another aspect about defense is to force an offensive player to go to certain spots on the court for team defense and to take away other aspects of his individual as well as the teams over all offensive goal and sets.defense is about limiting many options to just few

Lebron needs to play more defense Pippen is one of the best players ever to play defense if not the best on the ball not including big men. If you playing basketball you never want Pippen guarding you. Just take the night off and get some rest. I would love to see Pippen on Lebron. For a fact he will not have it easy.

He could do everything, take it to the rim, hit shots off the glass, shoot the 3, pass, defend on the perimeter, rebound n he was more then willing to take a charge.
It's rare that a guy as talented as Scottie would be willing to do the dirty work for a team. He did alot of intangibles on the court that can't be shown through stats.
There have been alot of guys in the league that have had athletic talent like Scottie but couldn't put it all together like he did!

U need to look at some stats. Pippen did make 10 all nba defensive teams but Jordan Made 9 all defensive teams and would have made at least 11 if he didn't retire. If you do some studying on NBA history you will see that Jordan was the defensive stopper for the bulls until he retired then Pippen took over that job because Jordan was older. Pippen only truly became a hall of famer when he had to step up his game because Jordan retired and that is the player everybody remembers Pippen as being

There are a lot of players in NBA history with better numbers than pippen but because they didn't win they don't get recognition as hall of famers .Pippen was lucky to play with Jordan because if he did stay in seattle he might not be remembered as a great player --Jordan put him in the spotlight.

How many championships did Pippen win without Jordan? Pippen choked in the clutch when he was with Portland thats why they didn't win even though they had the better team. I guess he needed Jordan to bail him out like he always did in Chicago. Jordan was 40 years old when he was with the wizards and had basically nothing on his team. Jordan has more steals than Pippen and only 54 less blocks than Pippen dispite playing 106 less games than Pippen. Not even Pippen thinks that he is better

Did I ever once say that Pip was better than MJ in any skill/category? No. I simply stated that Pippen's man-on-man defense on the opposing teams' best players is often overlooked, other than by true fans and observers of the game, as opposed to fair-weather fans.
Note that Phil Jackson has gone on record to say that Pippen was a better defender than Jordan. That's no knock on Jordan - Pippen was way longer and a bit taller. Even if I didn't agree with Jackson, it's still worth mentioning.

Asking why Pippen never won DPOY is akin to asking why Hakeem Olajuwon did not win an MVP award until Michael Jordan left the NBA for the first time. At that point, the NBA was scrambling to find its next great superstar. Scottie Pippen was left in the wake, coming in fourth in MVP voting.
Name me some other players who led their teams to a 55-win season in his FIRST year as the go-to player. Name me some others who, while doing so, led his team in every single major statistical category.
