there are so few penholders and yet we have dominated table tennis for so long. good example is our club. there were 6 penholders and about 100 shakehanders in the last tournament. the pro division champ was penhold. the class A division champ was penhold. the class B division 2nd placer was penhold. the class C division champ was penhold!
dont get me wrong, i love RSM and his style, but theres something beyond the tradition penhold grip on him: HE MISSES SOOOO MANY LOOP DRIVES! they all go out! That guy should have stayed with butterfly, i dont know why he switched to xiom in 2005 :(
i was really wondering what language Ma Lin would use to talk to Ryu. I wonder if there's a bet going on between the two teams....loser pays for dinner?
@PerfectDiver probably, cuz ryu prolly doesnt know chinese, idk if cantonese of mandarin ( ma lin idk what he speaks) and ma lin doesnt know korean.. so prolly english xD
@shoat117 I also saw him in the WTTC 2011. I thought he wasn't a coach, just a guy with a big hand to clap for the Chinese team when they don't have much support...but this rarely happens. XD
Odd format, I don't understand why it's only 1 set (I know it's 2-2 already in matches, but I feel unfulfilled that shakehand is really better now haha)
@sehskyle they made it one round so it's easier for both side to lose. if it's for 5 rounds, ryu probably dun hv much chance. 1 rd there is more uncertainty
I don't know what you think, but I really liked this event. It's such an relaxed atmosphere although of course they still want to win. But it's just not the main thing here, they are just having a good time. It's great to see the pros in a friendly atmosphere like this where they have a laugh together and just enjoy being there.
who won anyway, penhold or shakehand?

I may be a penholder, but Ma Long is too much of a favorite for me to be cheering for the penholders.
but I must admit, Ryu Seung Min does have one of the best FHs I've seen around.

I am not versed in the rules of table-tennis and I am interested in what it means "white card"?
Thx.
Dejan3111 8 months ago
@Dejan3111
White card stands for "Time Out". Every player has the possibility to take a Time Out (1 minute) once per match.

Who is the coach for the penhold team? I remember him from some of the WTTC videos because I've never seen anyone clap like that before.

@shoat117 he's not a coach, he's the main health and fitness trainer (like gives the players massages and stuff after a match) for the china squad
