I like the idea of spotlight, but my keyboard can launch Firefox with the press of a single button. Or I can use quick launch, or press Windows key + moz, down a couple times, I'm there (Vista).

About that long process of making some text with a transparent background - that can be done SO much easier with the Gimp (cross-platform).

Why not just whatever the photo editor he was using; does it not have a text tool?

well, if I want to have an OS and a hardware platform that garners 7 percent of the worldwide market and therefore gets everything last and takes 18 months or more for an upgrade I'd get a Mac. However, since I need to acutally use my computer, I opt for PC again and again. (no matter how many cutsie commercials they make portraying PC as a bumbling, broken megacrap of an OS.)

Well, unlike you, I like to spend more time composing and using my computer rather than troubleshooting it. The only thing PCs are good for is gaming, and coding. Also, for the record, windows is a bumbling, broken megacrap of an OS, and has been for a long time. Relatively featureless, unsecure, and unstable. Not to mention the pain of having to reformat every year to get your computer to run at a constant speed, thanks to the revolution in computing known as the "registry".

You're relying on propaganda you heard a long time ago. Not true then or now. I use my computer as a creative tool. I don't code. I also play games on the computer. The games I play on PC are richer and deeper than on a game only platform. I've never reformatted a PC or lost a file in 20+ years. I don't know diddly about the registry but I have access to 100s of free programs that can repair everything in my computer automatically while I sleep.
