I usually pull around 4.3K-4.7K on Northrend Boss fights and my gearscore is a little above 2600. So, depends on what rotation you use and your gear and stuff.

The reason is why they have lower dps in a 5man instance, that the key of the shadowpriests' dps are their DoTs, which needs time to maximize its damage output. In a 5man, the mobs dying too fast for the dots, so the shadowpriest can't do their best dps. I usually DoT all the mobs in the pack, this way a shadowpriest can do relative good damage at the quick-dying mobs, too.

SW: death doesn't increase your dps in pve tbh. It's not worth a global cooldown. A single Mind Flay would do twice as much damage as a shadow word: death. Also it's made for pvp when your target is at 3.4k hp.

you can find a ton of specs for leveling priests by searching on google. just look around for a little bit. the best advice i can give that you wont really find anywhere is that you should always have the most updated wand that u can find. this is extremely helpful, especially for your earlier levels.

I disagree with the comments made about how easy shadow priests can be, let me tel you they aren't. Shadow priests have no real rotation and each priest does things a little differently. Shadow priests follow a priority system, unlike a strict rotation of that of an Arcane mage.

lol level 79 priest here, got around 1.2k sp unbuffed and im doing 3-5k mind blast crits in pve and 2.5k-4.5k in pvp.

spriest and disc is closer in gear. spriests is stacking sp,crit, haste and spirit while disc is stacking sp, crit and int basically. the three specs are very different in playstyle, and none of them are boring imho. also to OP, get quartz naabcaex =)

Hi I´m also playing a night elf priest. Im doing a dps about 3k with full t7. I think when you would use Shadoword: Death more often it woult boost your dps at about 3,2k. Just think about it ;)

When I first started out, my gear wasn't the one that was necessary at all, and when I took this video, SW:D would have, indeed, greatly increased my DPS. Currently, I'm at 300 haste and 2300 SP w/ Inner Fire.... 300 haste is the ideal place to be, and once you get there, SW:D actually limits your DPS. You want to be able to get 2 MFs in before the MB CD is up. Hope this helped out.

generally youll get better benefit from haste if you have low latencies, it just nullifies as you get higher up but crit is overall better since regen procs of crits and we get extra damage on dots from % of crit

If u played wow, then u would defo know that DP is a base spell to all priests atm. I have been playing this for 4 years now and trust me when i say that what i said its what the majority of wow population thinks too. Am not flaming but its absolutely rediculous to level a night elf priest, or a draenei mage, or human priest. human rogue or even a draenei paladin or hunter... Its for laugh both looks and base gestures.. Ask arround whats best UNDEAD priest ? or Night elf?..

lmao kickzfnatic you fail. in the same paragraph you say it cost 25% of base mana ( which is wrong to begin with ) then you say if you have 15k mana it will cost you 3.75k mana to cast it. that would be 25% of total mana. not only undead get devouring plague all priest do. undead are a good race , WOTF is still pretty handy even after nerf and i personaly like the extra underwater breathe. plus they have the highest base mana of all the horde races. bones showing through armor is annoying :(

the only reason you would pick undead is because of devouring plague. which cost you 25 % base of your mana. not to mention that devouring plague can be dispelled or cured by any class. which cost you less than 5% of there mana, honestly think kid before you talk just because they have another dot doesn't mean its beneficial in the long run. if the undead priest has 15k mana devouring plague would take 3.75k manas to be casted. Not worth it.
