Mate, great video. Really immerses you in the experience of the drive. Don't listen to these ricers, I'm yet to see Nissan propel 1800kg of car to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds. And the gearbox, diff, engine will still outlast 20 of those peaky pieces of shit. These cars are incredible, and it's good to see you're driving a manual. Jesus, how much skill does it take to whack twin-turbos on a car and tune it to within an inch of it's life? XR6T's make 270kw and they're still reliable!
Ever seen the Ford service procedure for one of these? Almost every time you take it for a serivce, we have to tighten or replace the head bolts just to keep it from seperating the from the block. So your 'reliable' xr6t can still be out done by imports that haven't been for a service in the better part of 20 years.
Nissan hasn't had the need to propel a 4 door saloon to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds because they had the ability to design one that actually weighed less than 1800kg.
I've sent 4 gearboxes away for rebuilds on FG's in as many months mostly due to syncro issues between 2nd & 3rd. The joints in the tail shaft might as well not be there at all because they end up with huge amounts of play in them after a couple of thousand Kms and the diff.....you'd be better off getting an old one from a SS or HSV at least they were built for a little bit of torque. Not sure how 'reliable' you think these things are but I'd hold onto your factory warrenty if i were you.

Yep and they depreciate like a ROCK, thats why i see 2005 xr6 turbos going for 15-20 grand and 1998 skyline GTT selling around 15-20 grand, 7 year difference, i wouldnt buy a ford because you buy one and you lose money straight away, like my mother bought a new Focus 25 grand cant even get 17 grand for it 2 years later......, better of spending the 40 grand for a new Ford xr6 like yours and buy a 2006 BMW for about 30 grand, and still be able to get back 30 grand a couple years later.

Silly comments in here being made by the Holden boys they all know what the fastest car made in Australia is and its not a Holden , Turbo Falcons have been the quickest and economical all rounders since they inception, nothing gets close.
Until Holden imported the 6litre Chev motor they were not even close in output or quarter times and even now with the biggest engine ever put in a Holden the W427 is .02 of a second quicker to 100k than the Standard FG Turbo worth $100000 less , wake up Holden.

Both cars have the potential and balls enough to take on the Audi R8, and I really like the sound of that.

@Senninha1960 what benefits you ask? none for the average Australian. there are so many computers there is no raw driving experience to be had. its just a playstation game. dont get me wrong, beautiful car none the less, but just because it appeals to your fancy taste, doesn't mean it does to that of others. i would much rather a $10,000 ba xr6t with a few k worth of mods, bringing it up to over 300rwkw then an m3 any day.

Mate, great video. Really immerses you in the experience of the drive. Don't listen to these ricers, I'm yet to see Nissan propel 1800kg of car to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds. And the gearbox, diff, engine will still outlast 20 of those peaky pieces of shit. These cars are incredible, and it's good to see you're driving a manual. Jesus, how much skill does it take to whack twin-turbos on a car and tune it to within an inch of it's life? XR6T's make 270kw and they're still reliable!

Ever seen the Ford service procedure for one of these? Almost every time you take it for a serivce, we have to tighten or replace the head bolts just to keep it from seperating the from the block. So your 'reliable' xr6t can still be out done by imports that haven't been for a service in the better part of 20 years.
Nissan hasn't had the need to propel a 4 door saloon to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds because they had the ability to design one that actually weighed less than 1800kg.

I've sent 4 gearboxes away for rebuilds on FG's in as many months mostly due to syncro issues between 2nd & 3rd. The joints in the tail shaft might as well not be there at all because they end up with huge amounts of play in them after a couple of thousand Kms and the diff.....you'd be better off getting an old one from a SS or HSV at least they were built for a little bit of torque. Not sure how 'reliable' you think these things are but I'd hold onto your factory warrenty if i were you.

To me they look good, But does it all come to looks in the end? if you like the ssv look or the xr6t look?..I just think having a turbo will overheat your car. But the v8 will make you broke with petrol costs?

@danielmyles1 Well its better if you have shit to tow and a family, but for a 21 year old like myself it does not appeal to me, its to common and even though its cheap to run it costs like 40 grand new anyway and depreciates like a stone, while A 2001 GTR will hold its price firmly, equally good on fuel and durability, why do you think those old VL's still go hard, because they got a skyline engine.

Yep and they depreciate like a ROCK, thats why i see 2005 xr6 turbos going for 15-20 grand and 1998 skyline GTT selling around 15-20 grand, 7 year difference, i wouldnt buy a ford because you buy one and you lose money straight away, like my mother bought a new Focus 25 grand cant even get 17 grand for it 2 years later......, better of spending the 40 grand for a new Ford xr6 like yours and buy a 2006 BMW for about 30 grand, and still be able to get back 30 grand a couple years later.

I was driving back up the coast (brizvegas).A gtr-r35, an Audi A5 sportback and an Evo with mitsubishi racing decal all over it was on the same road.I have to admit the gtr was fkn beautiful.The dude floors it and was it was pretty fkn quick.Couple of seconds later a blue xr6t ute pulls up next to me.The number plate says 550hp.I thought yeah what ever..till he guns it.gtr had no fkn chance man.It was funny to see every other vechile slow down.lol.

@srbija08 Lol maybe, But in the end the car which you dream to own would only do about 60000ks and need a full engine rebuild. Where as a ford or holden will do about 300000ks and still only need a set of bearings.

Silly comments in here being made by the Holden boys they all know what the fastest car made in Australia is and its not a Holden , Turbo Falcons have been the quickest and economical all rounders since they inception, nothing gets close.
Until Holden imported the 6litre Chev motor they were not even close in output or quarter times and even now with the biggest engine ever put in a Holden the W427 is .02 of a second quicker to 100k than the Standard FG Turbo worth $100000 less , wake up Holden.

No matter what anyone says about this one, I'm gonna by one myself. Unfortunately i live in Norway, where most people don't even know about those aussie cars, not even the australian Ford, or the Holden.
Both cars have the potential and balls enough to take on the Audi R8, and I really like the sound of that.
They're good cars in its own ways
If I bought the FPV, and brought it back to Norway, it would stick out in the crowd in the same way as a Nissan Skyline.
