i have always why any of Dio´s guitar players never pulled out well Iommi´s solos... because, being BRUTALLY honest... all of them are better (technically, because of Tony´s mutilated hand) and I never liked what they with Dio´s era Sabbath songs, perhaps is the fact they tend to play with a Stratocaster somethin which was recorded with a Gibson SG...

This guy plays his own solo and that´s creative--not to copy Iommi`s solo--its totaly boring for a real great player to copy a solo from another guy evry note for note--Iommi`s solos are really great for shure--but he plays it always in the same way coz people wants to hear as they know.I´m really a great fan of Iommi--but this guy here is also a great player.

what ever happened to Robertson? That guy kicked ass in Lock Up The Wolves and I've heard some bootlegs from concerts around that time and he was pretty good live too.
Yeah. Its a shame he hasnt done anything worth to mention after Dio. He really completed that band then, his work back then reminds me a lot of young (and then still adventurous) Vivian Campbell. If he would find worthy bandmates, he would make gr8 music. But his stuck with mediocre players (like shitty Oni Logan), and then you cant make gr8 music. Youre only as good as the weakest link in the band.

Goldys sound was good in the 80´s but nowadays its not. But I like the fact that he plays the original solos from the Blackmore, Iommi and Cambell era songs, and manages to keep them fluent and good while adding some of his own without changing them drastically (like Tracy G ,unfortunately, did). IMO thats his strength.
I dont think Goldys crappy as a player, but his tone, especially live... poor. I think even my sound with my 30 watt Marshall beats it. Id love to see Cambell, Robertson or Aldrich doing guitarwork in Dio instead of him.

I concur. I thought Dream Evil was a good album, but considered the guitar work amaturish, and sadly Goldy hasn't improved in twenty years. Too bad Dio really likes him. His song writing seems stagnate as well.
I mean the guitar in HOLY DIVER sounds like its played through a shoe box? Dio is awesome and always talks highly of SABBATH. He should he is a VERY big part of that band :)

Man I don't agree at all, I think Vivians tone is tinny and Aldrich has a low mid range sound, craig is in the middle and consistantly good.
