  • @DopeJoker32x Step 2: Get a sense of humor.

  • @Zardul that has nothing to do with humor u moron..chinese and korean is a lot different

  • can soem1 translate for this vid

  • it looks like the mongal bow

  • is the cow tendon suppose to be the string or sumthin im kinda confused!

  • i dont get it

  • In Asia there are a lot of types of bow. This is the typical korean bow, not the "asian bow"

  • I do not understand what he is saying!!!!!!!!

  • Do the korean hornbows actually make that sound? i have a fiberglass korean bow i bought from ebay and it doesnt make that sound when shot. It is a Kaya Korean Bow

  • @Soviless99 idk why it makes that noise.

  • Wow, this one beats flexibility.

  • wtb engrish subs.

  • his skins shiny ^^

  • what an art

  • lol its french^^

  • my dick is french wanna kiss it?

    thats not french

  • it was a joke you stupid guys!!^^

  • @davidbesir which wasn't funny, i guess.

  • this kind of traditional bow making is similar to traditional katana making... whereby the "soul" or "character" of the master is "put" into the bow/katana~ a kind master = a kind bow/katana~

really appreciated~ hope the bows/katanas go to good owners who dont abuse/neglect them~ but treat them with respect~

  • guys can you tell me wtf is that at 2:05? pls...

  • It's glue.

  • ancient glue

  • wah~ they use buffalo horns... zzz~ they could just use trees~ zzz~

  • @zomgbbqwth

through this method they archieve a stronger bow

  • @zomgbbqwth not strong enough

  • you dumbass buffalo horns have more tension so they are way strongr then wood.

  • and that made me a dumbass? you insult like a lil kid that just learnt that word from his dad cos his dad called him it~

internet insults are like mcdonald's french fries~ they are everywhere~ :D

  • who gets mad over the internet. i get called dumbass all the time

  • u get called dumbass all the time? you better wise up then~ go learn some general knowledge and improve your iq and eq~ or you gonna get called it till you die~

  • @lifes40123

well... you need to be specific about what kind of wood, of coarse horn will have more tension that a coniferous wood such as pine or spruce but some woods are much more dense and have much more tensile strength than horn such as Black Ironwood or Lignum Vitae. There is no ideal wood for making bows there is always a trade off.

  • @sillypiggy2 wood break easier

  • 기마궁수.

  • loli like the sound it makes

  • I wish I could understand Korean. Composite bows are magnificent machines, and the Koreans made it into an art form

  • nah its just a peice of wood and string. machines are guns!

  • The dictionary calls a Machine an "apparatus consisting of interrelated parts with separate functions, used in the performance of some kind of work". That would make neither bows nor guns machines, since each has only one function-launch pointy owy thing

  • they have maltipol part and the parts make it a mechine

  • i like the samurai or japenese bow The yumi

  • english subs plz or do u know if there are any?

  • Sorry I ment GLUE ***** hahaha

  • Is it true the blue is made from dried swim bladders of fresh water fish? Just asking.

  • horn of da water buff

  • oh its in korean language !!!!!!!

  • who can help these poor stupid guys.. hey it's a traditional korean bow which has been technically existed from the nation called 'goguryeo' which was located just next to mongolia and it is the region where Genghis khan thought to be born in. There is a subtle difference between mongol bow and korean bow. and all the languages spoken here is modern-korean. The title at the bottom of the screen is chinese.

  • @168arkady the title is Korean/Hangul I cant read Chinese but I can read Hangul and I could clearly read the bottom

  • @168arkady u r really ridiculous,"goguryeo" isnt the ancestor of Korean,it's another old ethic existed in China, thy just sound similar.how long do u think thy use the writing nowadays dont u know Kr used to write in Chinese nd those words cn be translated dirctly betwn 2 wrtngs just like En nd Fr?th wrtng thy use now makes lotsof confuse,so thy needto state th Chinese beside it.tht Chinese is th nme of th arrows.wht a jerk u r!!!getto knw more about Asia, thn mak comments.u r th ppl who need help

  • @wangtianxing1010

why don't u say everything is chinese? lol

  • @yoonkim1982 Because I know what is modest, I won't say anything before I am sure about it, not like you.

  • @168arkady did u know korea is ASIA....

  • horn of what?

  • Comment removed

  • im guessing the bow was backed with horn andd that the sinew was .. another backing?

  • damn that look like alot of work lol

  • well yeah asian languages are my special talents.... :-D

  • they made the bow out of bone!!!!

  • heh,.. korean

  • can you please put subtitles!

i'm so curious about the details :)

  • it would be good if i could unstank it no afence

  • They seem to be Japanese or Korean but the bows are definately not traditional Japanese but Mongol

  • I think the they are, speak and write mongol in this video. It aint Japanese at all - thats for sure.

  • translation?

  • Not like I understand much of what he says, but... seems like a good documentary.

  • This video shows the attention to detail and careful selection of materials that goes into making a composite bow. I could go out now and attempt to make one myself ^^

  • pmsl yeah only if i could translate it

  • not offense but there are some misunderstanding. it's not an "asian" bow. it's Korean bow and archery is the original characteristic among altaic language societies. not of every asian countries.

  • Don't tell me Korea moved to Europe. Korean bows have very much in common with bows made by other Asian peoples - most of them are 3-layer composite bows made of horn, wood and sinew. A lot of them are short recurve bows of similar shapes. So there are Asian bows that differ from any other bows. Korean bows belong to that family.

  • NO one claim that Korean bows belong to poor European bow family and NO one believe that European people can even imitate the Korean bow. What I meant was asia is so broad land. There are only few countries who were known for bow, located northern eastern asia, which are classified as Altaic language societies. What you say by 'Asian' bow is actually altaic mongolian bow. it's rather correct.

  • Indo-Iranian peoples of Eastern Europe once used Altaic-type composite bows, but in Western Europe such bows were not as popular as all-wood bows due to the near-constant humidity of that part of the world. Even Genghis Khan was not able to advance far into Western Europe because the glue in his composite bows would become weak from absorbing moisture in the air.

Certain Siberian peoples got around the glue problem, though.

  • what did he make the bow out of

  • He made the bow out of an elephant tusk O_O

  • its an bufflo horn

  • translation would be nice :)

  • un ne ha deska... umm.. la korean yoko edono chinese ching chang bow desu!

  • tomorrow I`ll have that bow ^^ i`m very happy ^^

  • they could eat the left over fish glue at the end

  • I like the way he strings it at the end

  • thin khell send it to me for my weekly allowance($0)

  • wow

  • you can tell Korean bow from Mongolian/Manchurian/Turkish/Hungarian/Hun bow very easity.

only Korean bow makes a complete circle when un-strung.

  • in Japanese or Korean, dang

  • It's Korean. You can tell because of the KBS2 watermark in the upper left, KBS is Korean Broadcasting System.

  • o okay , thanx

  • oh man i skipped to end watched liked then went to watch all of it, and saw its horn i cant make it... :(((:(:(:(:(:(:(

  • is it posible to buy souch a bow here in USA.

  • Does any1 know what is the glue made from?

  • it's animal glue I think

  • i think its made from a special part of fish

  • The glue is made from 'air bladder' of FISH.

    Brown croaker(Miichthys miiuy) is used.

Maybe you can hear 'Min-Eu'. it is korean name of brown croaker.

  • what is air bladder of Fish?

  • if at all possible can somone make subtitles??? this video is awesome but i dont speak this language yet so i cant understand it. it would be much appreciated, i love asian cultures and the effort they put into everything, they set a good example for the rest of us to follow!!! thanks to Pwata for posting this!

  • Wow that bow the old man has at the start is incredibly smooth and beautiful

  • now if onliu i understood tht

  • thank you for posting. though, I wish you could post it with 'how to make a Korea arrow and bow':D

  • it's a korean bow...

  • its amazing

  • I love how he uses his legs and arms to tie the bow string =D I would never had thought of half sitting on the bow to bend it!

  • that's what you call old school

  • The husband and wife team are awesome - I couldn't see working everyday at home with my girl. two thousand euros to the guy who subtitles this thing in english. What's the gooey fibers?

  • Gooey fibers are probably sinew. Tendons of an animal probably from the back legs or the backbone. The goo, as you saw was boiled hooves, which acted as the glue.

  • sorry, it's not made from hooves. it's made from a variety of sources like simmered fish air bladders, simmered sinue, simmered raw hid scrapings. Chemically, it's the same as the sinue, so they bond very well

  • i didnt undersatnd one word..the bows look cool though but i am going to stick with a compound bow

  • hehe, i love how he attaches the string at the end ^^

  • kool

  • you cant buy asian bows with euros wtf..

    you buy em wit won

  • This is a video for making the traditional Korean Bow similar to the one used by the Hwarang-do and Koguryo. For short range targets, it was fired straight as in the intro, but it's typical usage and range was a volley fired high into the air and angling down at a range of 600 to 1073 meters. The Mongol Bow was a closer quarters bow fired straight from horseback at a range of up to 500 meters or so.

  • @ravendon true but i thought they had a similar firing range.

  • wow those guys at the beginning are really good O__o

  • umm make me one?

  • if you'll pay something like 2 thousand of euros

    XD

  • 코리아

  • hone: soutest asia water buffalo

BODY: bamboo(base frame) + oak tree piece(center)+ mulberry tree (2 edge side )

glue: melt a dry bladder (a sciaenoid fish )

combine in autumn with bladder glue

    and dry

reinforcing bow : attach the cow muscle (draw out backbone)

    and dry

    takes 3 month..

  • Russian bows were very similar to these ones. I learned a lot of useful things from this video that helped me make my own bow. Thanks for posting it!

  • Comes from same origins of the Mongal forces that took over Asia and russia.

  • this is an korean bow, made with waterbuffalo horn. not a mongol bow, not sheep horn. theres a big difference between the korean bows and the mongols, the korean were much shorter, slimmer and had much more reflex at the handle.

  • water buffalo horn

  • what kind of horn wre they using?

  • its from wather bufalo-asian

  • those bows are traditionaly made from sheep's horn.

  • no its not corect not from sheep- but from mounten gout- ibex -his horns are best for mongolian bow!

  • even though its not in english or not in the language that you speak you can still understand it. because of watch and learn.

  • can u al least put subtitles -_-

  • thats make a korean bow to you.

  • well now you know!

  • yea its birch you can ask othr people or search it on the internet its strong because it has layers of senew and other stuff like horn for backing

  • i wonder why it doesent break. i mean the strenghts working on the wood is gigantic!

  • the wood used is birch

  • no i don't think so it must be something like bamboo or osage. birch is ok but not good enough for that sort of bow.

  • The wood part of the bow takes no strain at all. It just fills the space between the horn and sinew, without weighing too much. The siyahs (things on the end) do not bend at all.

  • please translate this video...it's so intresting and I would really like to know the materials needed for this kind of a composite bow

  • i dont know what the wood is but its a sinew backing and a horn belly. one thing: this isent a asian bow; its a turkish bow.

  • actually i's most likely a Mongolian bow

  • yes but turkish bows are made the same way.

  • Yea, cause they're almost the same people. Mongols and Turks are kinda like Cousins.

  • I absolutely concour, please somebody make a translated version.

  • thanks su27forserbia i know where to get thin birch like that

  • ooh good =)

  • also does anyone know what the guy uses on the bow to help heat it at the end?

  • anyone know what type of wood is used for this bow? if it is a type hard to obtain can you tell me the closest type of wood to it that is easy to obtain?(oak,hardwood,etc...)

  • for asian and mongol bow -its used birch wood

  • from what I was able to translate..

the first wood you see is bamboo, then oak, then mulberry in that order.

and.. when bent, the bull's tendon pulls the bow from the outside and water buffalo's horn pushes the bow from the inside.. (outside being the outer part of the bown when bent)

    hope it was helpful :p

  • whoop..

    someone already answered..

  • fihs glue !

  • you mean fish bladder glue. it comes from a sturgeon located in the caspian sea i believe

  • yea fish glue its from fish bladers-any fish will doo!

  • Beautiful work. Does anyone know what the glue is that he is using?

  • Wonderful Korean bow, this old guy is awesome bowyer, i wonder is he using a hide glue for gluing the sinew? And as i noticed they don't uses fishtail joints for the grip as it is common in making the turkish or other composite bows.

  • e brate pa zar nevidis da je riblji lepak ,matori je fascinantan -ako oces da pravis ovakav luk a nemas sve "sastojke" jaavi se imam ja

  • Interesting cultures...

  • Where has this video been showed? In Korea? I'm curious to know for who audience this video was made.

  • Fantástico! Arco Compósito é definitivamente o mais impressionante. Fantastic! The composite bow is definitly the more impressive.

  • its korean bow

  • How much is it for a bow and ten arrows!!

  • Very interesting,

Do nobody has a translated version?

  • uhhh translations would be nice =D

  • I've always admired this type of thing. It's amazing how dedicated they are to work so hard and go through all of that trouble to make a very fine bow.

  • hey guys check out my blowgun video! Blowgun
