  • Is this extended mix available to buy on a regular CD?

  • I listen to a lot of music, a very wide variety. But this is the best intro of all, it's magic.

  • HOLI CHIT I JUST BROKE MEH HEADFONES!!, AN MEH EARDRUMS!!

  • It Doesnt sound like Queen at all !.......it sounds like Slade !

  • been a slade fan for about 38 years still think they rock and this is on my mp3 along with 80 other slade tracks listen to them everyday just wish original band would reform we really need a band like slade in the charts so much crap now ,(why does everyone listen to this rap hip hop crap now) we need some rocking back in the charts,,but thank you slade for giving us the best music than x

  • I'd be willing to bet that Bob Geldof, intentionally or accidentally, used this song as the basis for "The Great Song Of Indifference". Listen to them back-to-back sometime...

  • Anyone care to guess the number of bands influenced by Slade; I mean beyond the ones that actually admit it? They still sound awesome today after all the years.

  • If you listen to music this is one of the best intros ever, the drum, the guitar giving a taste of what is to come. Then Noddy letting rip with his voice, this track is good enough to be an instrumental in it's own right. If you wear headphones this will blow your brains out when turned up, and by god does it sound good.

  • Man they left us with some good rocking tunes, didn't they? Thanks for the comment!

Have you seen the movie "Flame" that was pretty good, great storyline.

  • I saw them twice in 1971 at Reading & St Neots and they had a great sound no suprise when they hit the charts. Thanks for bringing back some good rock memories of that year to a 57yr old!

  • Drums sound lush

  • This intro is the best, it just builds and builds and then carries on through the song, brilliant.

  • Slade were out there before Queen.

  • Glad to see alot of positive responses to "my" band!! In 1972 I heard them play and since then have proclaimed them "my"!! Glad to share the good rockin" and fun music of SLADE with all of you. Keep on Rockin' everyone!!!!!!!

  • @gtr3303 I was there more or less from the start, they are great musicians and Noddy is out there by himself.

  • Calm Down. I never said it sounded like a Queen track. I ASKED the question see the question marks at the end "Sounds like Queen??" saying which one as I don't think it does, hence the follow of "Which Queen track". It was someone else who said "The Nonsense Flash" NOT ME. I like Queen but LOVE Slade and think the comparison of the two is stupid as they were unique in their own ways, so PLEASE read posts correctly

  • @gypsyroadhog Yes and I was only answering your question!!! Your question was justified, becoz it is obvious that there is not much resemblance with Queen. I have not said that YOU were the one mentioning the Flash Gordon Thing. I was only quoting another commenter, NOT you. It is called: "misunderstanding". Cheers!

  • Oh I see, the drumpart at the end of "One Vision" sounds a bit like the intro of this masterpiece. But here is the difference, the Queen soundtrack is lousy and of low quality compared to this high class material by Slade. I know Slade had an image problem and the media constantly cast them away, but people with some real music sophistication can look through that and recognize the true brilliance of this awesome band. Better than Queen by a countrymile.

  • WHAT A FOOLS WHO CAN T AGREE WHAT THE "SOURCE" OR INSPIRATION SHOULD BE FOR THIS AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL AND AWESOME PIECE OF MUSIC ART, "DOCTOR WHO", "QUEEN",, "oNE VISION" ETC. HAHAHA KEEP THROWING UP MORE NAMES OF LESS TALENTED ACTS THAN THE TRUE MASTERS OF ROCK ANTHEMS AND POP/ROCK TUNES IN ANY POPULAR MUSIC STYLE.

    YES: THEY ARE CALLED: S-L-A-D-E

  • Brilliant intro, epic song, one of the best bands ever.

  • great song in any form... first time hear this version!!! love it... much thanks! Slade Rules!

  • I love how this has an upbeat sound with a rockin' fiddle!

  • Yes, it seems a bit long but I love seeing the reaction of people that haven't even heard the album version of this OUTSTANDING cut

  • Went on for a bit too long, but otherwise excellent.

  • Did anyone find out where you could purchase the extended ultrasound mix version of this kick ass song?

  • This was the 12 inch single version that I had! Was FANTASTIC when played loud!

  • saw them live at a bike show in kent before they split up, fantastic live, come on time for a reunion.

  • all you slade fans -- which one of their songs goes Bm D A Bm (each chord for a measure) cause my dad says "The lights are on in spidertown" reminds him of a slades' song. im just really curious which one.

  • I have always loved this song, and I am amused at the way the lead singer dresses, and performs--very entertaining. It is like the Mad Hatter became a rock star. They were an influence for Kiss, too.

  • hmm, think im goin to buy this record from ebay now.

  • Sounds like Queen?? Which Queen track??

  • @gypsyroadhog Every song on the FLASH GORDON soundtrack ....

  • @anonymousent NOT AGREED BTW QUEEN SCROUNGED OFF SLADE MORE THAN THE OTHER WAY AROUND. ASK BRIAN MAY HE WILL MENTION SLADE AS ONE OF THE BIGGEST INFLUENCES.

  • @proslade Yes ... that is EXACTLY what i meant when i put " Sounds Like Queen " - meaning they had to get their influence from Slade ... but everyone took the comment the other way around & ran away with it ... : / ... oh well ....

  • @anonymousent Yes, I think Queen have to thank Slade more than the other way around.

But the MAIN point to me is, that if you listen to the intro of this, it is just SUPURB quality, the first 55 seconds are a complete soundtrack. I think Slade were better "tune" producers than Queen. Sales succes doesn t say anything about the talent s band. I simply think Slade were a countrymile better. Not that Queen would be that bad though!

  • @proslade AGREED .... i think that if they were on a different label ( with the power wallets backing them ) when they came out they would have been 10 times bigger .... but u right / record sales dont say shit about how good a band is ...

  • @anonymousent Sounds like Big Country to me. Big Country was much darker though. Same whaling bagpipe sounding guitars. This song and BC's debut album came out at nearly the same time.

  • @anonymousent SOUNDS A LOT BETTER THAN QUEEN THANK YOU

  • @anonymousent Just to let you know, Slade were big before Queen came on the scene. It is not "Slade sound like Queen" but it is the other way round, Slade had their own sound with Noddy, as did Queen with Freddie, do not upset us Slade fans.

  • @gypsyroadhog It reminds me a lot of One VIsion.

  • @JDCUSA WHAT "ONE VISION"??? WHICH TRACK???

  • @gypsyroadhog It does NOT sound like Queen. That generic comment about a resemblance with "all songs of the Flash Gordon soundtrack" is just downright nonsense. There is one drumpart at the end of the song "One Vision" that sounds a bit like the intro of this extended version, but that is a bit lousy and proof that Slade were much better at creating real tunes, becoz the intro of this extended is just a masterpiece on itself.

  • @proslade I agree with you! The drums and the guitar riffs in the intro of this song remind me somewhat of that part of One Vision that you mentioned. Don't be such an Adolph about it. People are still allowed to have an opinion, are they not?

  • Wow...if these guys would do a reunion concert or show, that'd be awesome. They have tons of great songs.

  • Slade at night great love PIXIE

  • Sheer magic. This band were in a class of their own.

  • OMFG!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!

  • I'll never forget that mirrored top hat, that was so cool when I seen these guys in Detroit in the 70's!!! They were all great as a matter of fact! Thanks Slade, for the great music!!!!!

  • Kick ass Track, from a great rock band !!

  • kráááásna :*

  • If you see any queen in this track you can then say queen hijacked slade, slade were already having No1's before queen were on the scene.

  • I wish I could buy/download this extended version somewhere. The regular version is just 3 1/2 minutes. Maybe someone knows where I could get it.

  • About 5 years ago I was on my way to work one night. I was listening to show doing retro 80`s tunes. This song came on. I cranked my Kenwood deck to 25 and let it rock. I said to myself "who are these guys? this kicks ass!" I repeated the lyrics to a friend of mine and he said "that`s Slade" the next day I bought "Get yer boots on. The Best Of Slade" and found out first hand,, SLADE RULES!

  • @DoubleVisionandco.......I cranked mine to 26 that day, one # higher :)..... blew my windows out. Drove to the nearest liquor store, bought a fifth, called my boss and told him to KISS MY ASS !

I'm lying..... I didn't call my boss, I just let the fuck wonder what was going on and enjoyed the rest of MY day.

  • I think this song sounds more like Queen thats awesome.

  • Dr. Who is awesome........

  • @RevGreen Noddy should be a Dr. Who with top hat and tails and all!!!

  • That middle part that you say sounds like QUEEN sounds a lot the opening theme to DOCTOR WHO!

  • Hmmm.... i can see that too !! ..... lol

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf

  • Oi Arse Just Get Lartherd !

  • Big Country and Slade are two of the best bands to come from 70's and 80's. Very similar sounds too ;)

  • Slade was, is and always will be one of the most talented bands of UK history, they incluenced practically every major act of the time.Kiss bassist Gene Simmons admitted his songwriting and stage performance was influenced by Slade. Cheap Trick said that they went to see Slade perform, they used "every cheap trick in the book", thus coining thier name. Quiet Riot had US hits with their covers. ACDC and even Bon Jovi have mentioned them as influences. Rock legends around the planet love em. Rock

  • @chairmanmeow2009 Great comment! Right to the point and I agree! I have liked this band since I was a child and had to explain to so many people that "Come On, Feel the Noize" and "Mama, We're All Crazy Now" were Slade originals that Quiet Riot became famous for. Take care and keep rockin.'

  • @chairmanmeow2009 yeh maybe but slade stole the tune from a folk song called there is a happy land. so it appears what is probably slades greatest song is a stolen riff.

  • You should put up their orignial version of come on feel the noise, though Quiet Riot's version, stomps on Slade's and then slaps it silly. But hey these guys wrote it.

  • Haha You're right on that, Slade did write the song, along with Mama Weer all Craze Now, another one that QR covered.

But there is a difference between QR and Slade, it takes real talent to write the songs that you have hits with, but as far as taking hits and making them again, well hell, any band can do that.

And the other BIG difference is Kevin (rip) could never hold a candle to Noddy as far as lead singers go. Noddy Holder is simply in a class all by himself.

  • @crusherc He's almost as good as Paul Rogers of Bad Company, he is the Voice.

  • @ddthorny WHAT WHAT..you jest my utube friend.paul rogers the queen stand in.noddy holder and slade are legends here in the u k and in europe. i dont mean to be disrespectfull. you have your oppinions and i have mine..but paul rogers could not hold a candle to noddy holder and slade.

  • @crusherc Noddy and his voice are 1 in 10 million, rock it Nod.
