please help me, i have a pretty serious problem, iam having MOdel no. QM 46 -1 machine, 1995 year model, when i on the machine the machine asking for password, and redlight is blinking, so can u help me please.
I run envelopes on a QM 46 at 10k ALL the time. I used to set up the press like Heidelberg recommends (with the shoe they provide). But I've found that if you don't use the shoe and set up the press like an AB Dick for envelopes (using a rubber band to retard the pile raise on the smaller sheet sensor bar) it gives much more consistent results with minimal misfeeds. Yes, you have to adjust the pile height knob as the envelopes run but you can get up to 7500/hr done instead of just 5k or so.
Sorry that's not 10,000 an hour. An the previous post stated of doing that for more than a minute, agreed. After 5 boxes, so the operator will be so tired that he won't be keeping up. Was it mentioned that "10,000" an hour doesn't accommodate for the stopping of the press when a new box is loaded on the feed side.
Hey, thanks for your comment. You do realize that it is a continuous stream feeder so the press does not stop when loading, you load continuously, and seriously no good press operator will get tired just by loading and unloading envelopes. It is pretty straight forward, load 500 (takes about 20 seconds), then hang out on the delivery side and unload and box. Take another look at the feed end and you will see that it is a continuous feed envelope feeder.
@alaskanprinter Yeah, plus with the requisite pieces of cardboard taped into the appropriate places, you don't need to remove envelopes from the delivery quite so often. And you can leave the delivery door open. Heh heh heh. I like your chief!
Heidelberg Presses print quality is a lot better then an AB Dick, years ago I was running Envelopes through a Ryobi 3200 at about 7000 per hour.
Bloody hardwork loading one end and unloading the other, the higher the speed the poorer the quality. What does it matter if it takes you 1/2 an hour to run 3000 envelopes that look good at say 6000 an hour or 20 minutes to run the same at 10000 an hour and they look shitful.
I don't mean to quibble, but I noticed the one thing they didn't show was the PRINT QUALITY of the envelopes. Cranking it up and getting it to feed is easy. I can get an AB Dick 360 to print envelopes at 9000 an hour. Doesn't mean, though, I'd sell it to a customer - gray blacks, washed out blues, pink reds.
dude, get an envelope conveyer and keep your product off the floor...I was running tight register 3 & 4 color envelope jobs on an older model lil Hamada at that speed, let's see that QM do that....rookies
I run a QM-46-2 also. Quite simply the best small format two color press out there!I run everything on it, including four color work. The press sets up easy and the print quality is the usual Heidelberg quality.
what you need is a stenz feeder then you can print nonstop...i have one i will put it on video when i have time. but get rid of your quickmaster and get a speedmaster...

QM's and speedies do a great job maxed out.
Envelopes get shredded to get at the contents anyway, so why not run them through as fast as it will go. thats what i do anyway

you need a belt delivery for that speed. dont know ifa stenz feeder would fit the qm tho?
ncarn8 4 years ago
We have a Hamada RS34LSII. I always thought the Quickmaster would be a better machine but I haven't ever run a machine without a register board.
