† Absolutey beautiful, the heart and soul eminating from the light. There is no denying this. Hoping the best for Carly and her family. She is with us always.
This song just touched me. I'm not sure why. I was 14 years old when it came out,and it struck a chord with me. I used to listen to the AM radio when I went to sleep , and left it on through the night -and this was the ONLY song that would wake me out of a dead sleep when I was sleeping. Strangest thing. I still don't know what it's trying to tell me, but I'm just as mesmerized by it today.
@mattdaddyful WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU JACKASS BITCH? Like I said It was in a commercial. Bout a confused prick like you wouldn't know that. So why are you here? :p
Takes me back to the last days of high school where I had to say 'Goodbye' to it and the girl I had a crush on; The string section at the end of this song is Brilliant.
This is great...I've been in a Carly mood for 2 weeks now...and love it. Thinking of OMG...the years that I simply would blast her albums at our beach house, while as a kid... vacuuming each morning. :) I was 10 back in 70...and...and all these years later...still love her! ;) And she had a nice caretaker at one point...who hooked me up on that dry island and I'll forever be grateful! :) ha ha ha
@carmsfavtoo I GREW UP LISTENING TO CARLYS MUSIC. SHE ALWAYS SEEMED TO ME TO HAVE A CERTAIN SEXY LOOK ABOUT HER. A VERY GENTAL LADY. A GREAT VOICE. IT SEEMS TO ME CARLY IS , WHAT I CALL , HEART AND SOUL. A VERY SPECIAL WOMAN.
What a fabulous song. It builds with such power. It builds and crescendos. It seems to speak to something that is an eternal challenge for every human being in their lifetime, in one way or another, we all have to face and overcome. The way this song closes out and away is incredible.....the feeling that you're "striving"....that you're in the middle of it - on the journey.
I was 16 when this album came out--I rushed out to buy it for the bouncy Top 40 hit "Mockingbird," her duet with then-hubby James Taylor, and was stunned by this song. I listened to it over and over again, unsure what to make of it, it was so musically different from anything else out there. The percussion and strings at the end just blew me away. Still do, all these years later.
@TheCatgirl6 One of those songs that has resonated with me all these years. I was in high school when this came out and I love it just as much today=)

Carl's lyrics find a place in your mind don't they? "How to turn down the noise in my mind", is a great lyric.

Not a huge fan of hers, but this tune blows me away every time I hear it, due to her harmonic adventurousness, and the string writing at the end...
