If you study music, you know that when using the modes of the major scale like they are doing here, you're technically limited to 7 notes (and of course passing notes) you're going to eventually come across melodies that are similar to ones heard in other songs. If you want to put it that way, a good percentage of your favorite bands have used material directly from multiple classical pieces. It happens, most pop songs are constructed using a matter of 4 chords just in a different key... peace!

To be completely honest, I've never been a fan of trivium. It's not that they're bad, they just always sounded like they were lacking a certain something to me. I made a point of always listening to a couple of songs each album to see how they improved, and I thing it's maturity that was missing. I'm still not going to listen to them much, but they've definately improved massively with this one

Ive had this song stuck in my head all last night while falling to sleep, and now I woke up with it stuck in my head, so its the first thing I had to do was listen to this song!
The solo does remind me of Hearts Burst Into Fire a little bit. It's still my favorite solo on the CD, and I love both BFMV and Trivium, so I don't really care.
You people do know that the melody everyone says is ripped off of Hearts Burst Into Fire is one of the most generic melodies out there and I know a good 10 songs that use it off the top of my head.

Trvium is more technical, but matt tuck is a shade better as a vocalist..instrumentally, no competition but overall, i think both are evenly matched, with trivium just a bit better. and also..i think bullet is the better live band.

@thetoastisonfire I didn't want to compare them both but I guess this needs to be said: Trivium's much more mature, expressive and intelligent than BFMV dude. I was a BFMV lover when I was 15, but today I see they can't get close to all Trivium has accomplished as musicians and band; their music are inspirational and some are masterpieces. i agree with bfmv an trivium not sounding the same. but its only first three notes on 2:26 that sounds exactly like hearts burst into fire intro. (bfmv) gotta love them both. so now thats clear quit bitchin. an if i read this right. slipknot members helped with this album. an its actually cool 2:42 sounds exactly like the psychosocial chorus. :0
The riff in the slow part does sound like BFMV a little, with the ending slightly different. However, the playing in this Trivium song sounds WAY more passionate and heartfelt than the way Bullet play the riff - theirs quite frankly sounds soulless and emotionless. Trivium are easily better than Bullet.

I think BFMV's into on hearts burst into fire has a ton of emotion. Both are amazing bads, though. Trivium kills it live.

@thetoastisonfire I didn't want to compare them both but I guess this needs to be said: Trivium's much more mature, expressive and intelligent than BFMV dude. I was a BFMV lover when I was 15, but today I see they can't get close to all Trivium has accomplished as musicians and band; their music are inspirational and some are masterpieces. These guys exhale talent, I will stand with them as long as I breathe.

@mateusbatalha I used to worship Metallica since I was 12 (I'm now 18), I've listened to Trivium ever since Ascendancy came out. And this past year I've listened to Trivium over and over again in my car, or before falling asleep. This is just the best music I've heard. They bumped any other band I had ranked in my mind. They have so much talent. Every album they make is better. It's a matter of time before each member of Trivium becomes the best at their instrument.

i agree with bfmv an trivium not sounding the same. but its only first three notes on 2:26 that sounds exactly like hearts burst into fire intro. (bfmv) gotta love them both. so now thats clear quit bitchin. an if i read this right. slipknot members helped with this album. an its actually cool 2:42 sounds exactly like the psychosocial chorus. :0

The structure of this song and AILD's parallels are exactly the same. Both have a
1) killer main riff
2) super catchy clean vocals
3) hauntingly beautiful slow guitar part with clean vocals in the middle
4) eargasmic solos meshed into one
But the songs are totally different. The best two bands in the world

The riff in the slow part does sound like BFMV a little, with the ending slightly different. However, the playing in this Trivium song sounds WAY more passionate and heartfelt than the way Bullet play the riff - theirs quite frankly sounds soulless and emotionless. Trivium are easily better than Bullet.
