You can use Fraps to record games and Camtasia to record the screen.

And the free alternatives could be WeGame for game recording and CamStudio for screen stuff. But Camtasia and Fraps have a somewhat better quality over them (especially on Camtasia's side).

I sometimes have it on but it just slows everything down. Plus I never notice any difference in the graphics when it's on.

@hiker699 Sharper, smoother edges, more realistic video, all requires more GPU processing which is why I enable it to stress test the video card fully. Not enabling it and setting it off isnt fair when reviewing a gaming video card.
