  • don't much care for the dude but sheryl makes it worthwhile.

  • @warrenzevon57 thanks for the pointer, love it!

  • Lots of energy here. I love it

  • yeah! Great combo! Great energy!

  • I looked for the air date of the show that this clip is from. Crow & Earle recorded this song for the movie "Steal This Movie" which was released in 2000. I found that they are listed as musical performers for the Late Show that aired Jul 5, 2000. I recalled seeing this show and the performance by Earle & Crow. I am surprised to find that was over 11 years ago. I liked their version and had downloaded it but that was only a few years ago. Tempis fugit.

  • @SimonEissen - very nice detective work. Thanks.

  • Is that Paul Schaefer on the cow bell?

  • @ecb2 - Yes.

  • That's just a tight, fuck'n jam. Hell ya!

  • God-Damn...two of my favorite artists on a great song...in one place. Cliche' anyone? "WIN-WIN"

Only person from my dreams that is missing is TRACY BONHAM...and of course...the inimitable FREDDY MERCURY.

Now THAT would have been a 'jam-session' indeed...

  • No, I'm sorry, this just isn't any good, certainly not measured against the original.

  • What a powerful number!

  • I love Steve but Sheryl is my perfect woman and you can't have any...step back behind the line or be vaporized.

  • @Prometheus1st I love Sheryl too, check out this rendition of Redemption Day: watch?v=omxLrmnRMbs - it's fantastic!

  • Thanks, Appreciate the info. Great performance!

  • When was this taped?

  • Steve Earle is a National Treasure.

  • It speaks volumes that mainstream performers would cover this. One of my favorite songs period. I listen to everything from the doors to slipknot, the original is one of the best songs ever.

  • @pc399303

Not sure Steve is exactly mainstream. He bordered on it in the 80, but never really made it. Too stubborn. But it is a great cover of a great original. He is old enough to remember when it came out.

  • well, if "pipes" were all that mattered when performing, then every fat bitch singing on stage in a blues bar would be a famous.

let's thank god that ain't the case.

  • MORE COWBELL!

  • Sheryl solo? Seems to me the blend of their voice attitudes is what makes it.

  • this is actually really GOOD version

  • Thanks for posting. I love this song, but would prefer to hear Sheryl sing it solo - her pipes are much better than Steve's!

    Thanks for posting

  • Great version of a classic tune. Thanks for posting.
