  • Of all the times I've been to Renville down thru that way I've never seen BNSF delivering the coal cars.. I've seen them come thru my way with those exact cars going out west.. Great video! Now I'll be keeping my eye out for BNSF on the TC&W line..

  • This BNSF power went through Hopkins in the morning around 9:30 AM. It came back through Hopkins almost 12 hours later...

  • As of May 1st, THIS VIDEO is still the only place on the Interntet that documents BNSF power west of Hopkins.

  • West of Tower E-14, the loaded coal trains are restricted to 25 mph as are the eastbound light power movements. East of Tower E-14, the loaded coal trains and light power movements are restricted to 10 mph. TCWR/CP are working on a tie project in 2008 to hopefully raise the speed on the Bass Lake Spur (Belt Line BLVD to Tower E-14) to 25 mph.

  • As of 4/15/2008...NOWHERE on the Internet could you find any pictures, video, or intelligent discussion of BNSF power WEST of Hopkins on Twin Cities & Western. Some sources on the Internet (not to mention any names or point fingers here) were actually misleading railfans from enjoying this little-known treat.

  • Power is the BNSF 8245, BNSF 9924, and the BNSF 9735.

On the way out to Ruebel earlier in the day, the BNSF 9924 had been the lead engine. But on the return trip to Northtown Yard, the middle engine, 8245, became the lead engine as it was the only engine facing the proper way in the consist for the eastbound trip.

  • The first scene is at a gravel road crossing west of Bongards. Then we visit Bongards, the Cologne siding where the 2008 & 302 are tied down with a DDG train, the Cologne station sign, Kelly Ave. East of Cologne, Carver Co. Rd. 43 at Augusta, crossing just east of Augusta, Dominick Drive in Minnetonka (meeting Glencoe Turn power), 5th Ave. crossing in Hopkins, Excelsior BLVD crossing in Hopkins, and finally Belt Line BLVD in St. Louis Park.
