Not liking the slow shutter speeds of the GoPro...

I ordered a Gopro for filming non-sports stuff, as a small rugged and unobtrusive camera. But the low-light abilities are not as good (but i didn't expect any miracles), i think even my old SD-only 3CCD camcorder can beat the quality of this 720P recording at night.

if your camera don't take pictures like this, send it back. The camera does take very nice low light video, considering this is a CHEAP camera. However, a $5,000 Canon was compaired to GoPro and this little cam beat that one hands down.

So much for these semi-pro camcorders. I have one of those and many other models of camcorders, but I have to say am shocked the quality of these GoPros.

really wierd i bought a goPro HD last week and testet it while driving at night like u did, i was really looking forward to see the video but there was ...nothing ... totally black couldn´t anything ... even in my room at home with lights turned on it´s really dark and fragmented...any suggestions or advice ?

@Sn00pX hmm sounds a little busted, make sure everything is clear of the lens(fingers) and look into the lens, might have to replace it! soz

@Sn00pX I know what you mean.. Even indoors with lights on it looks terrible I agree. Hey I just read in the manual that you can adjust the camera for darker areas. Just go to their website and look for the manual, you can download it. I'm going to try the same, other than the darkness issue.... my gopro is freaking amazing!!!

For being such a small camera, i can't imagine it has a large sensor... So naturally the lowlight video is going to be eh... Thats not what this camera is really for though, and it can do some things that not much else can.

@phillow the camera is the best you could possibly buy for any sport or high speed hobby you could think of, the worst part of it is shown in the video and it really isn't that bad which is darkness. another great thing is if your a clutz like me u dont hav to worry its waterproof and pretty hard to bust in its little case

@sk82live0019 Thank you for your answer. I bought the cam last week and made some test-shots. Don't know whether i want to keep it or give it back. The small camera got a lot of pro's and con's....but the quality in darkness or even in a normal room with light on haven't convinced me yet.

Looks a bit blurry even at 720p. What settings were you using?

It may seem that I become dim a little because r3 720p 60fps was cold

@obtrunco I know this is 9 months old, but these cameras do REALLY bad at night, they aren't very good at night at all

I used mine when the sun was setting, and it was pixelated as fuck

I did a few night shots and I don't think it's the cam's high point. Looks a bit better on a car then a motorcycle IMO. Although the area I took some nightshots did not have street lamps.
