They originally took their iPhone concept to Verizon and it was shot down so they took there idea to at&t where it was welcomed with open arms. The iPhone single handedly made at&t the #1 smart phone distributor in the U.S. Apple is a very stubborn company and they have shed their dislikes for CDMA technology for the world to hear. With their track record, I wouldn't get too happy.

@terrorizer805 I think you're discounting at&t service a bit too much. I don't get Verizon service well at all where I live, but if I did, I would still choose at&t. Rollover minutes is the name of the game. Right now, I have over 1,000 rollover minutes. And, that's with at&t's basic calling plan. I don't believe Verizon will be manipulated either, which is what I pointed out, but Sprint or T-MO would have no problem following Apple's rules. They would love to have some kind of advantage.

First off i work for verizon! Yes verizon is a gsm carrier on select phone modles like the RIM blackberry storm, storm2, and tour. the sim cards are powerd by vodaphone.. so apple can make a gsm/cdma phone that could be used on the verizon network... so once again very possible

Verizon is NOT going to get the iPhone like AT&T did. Once Verizon rolls out LTE any customer will be able to activate and use iPhone on Verizon's Network because LTE is backward compatible. I personally do not like iPhone but for those who can't live without it and tired of dropped calls Verizon is the best option.
If you have a 3GS or older, you WILL be having to buy a new iPhone. Yes they have a contract with AT&T, but anyone with an iPhone knows that it runs on the GSM network. Version is NOT on the GSM network. They are going to have to completely reinvent the iPhone's inner workings, because as of right now it's hardware is only compatible with GSM networks.
(GSM networks are AT&T, T-Mobile, and Virgin Mobile)

@elementsk84life1 Yeah. As long as you got then from iTunes, you should be able to transfer them no problem. Just make sure they're synced to your iTunes library, and once you sync your iPhone, they should transfer no problem.
What I've done to get out of a cntract before is call them up and tell them you're moving, and "insert cell phone carrier here" does not have service in that area, so you have no choice. Worked for me :)

First off i work for verizon! Yes verizon is a gsm carrier on select phone modles like the RIM blackberry storm, storm2, and tour. the sim cards are powerd by vodaphone.. so apple can make a gsm/cdma phone that could be used on the verizon network... so once again very possible

Verizon is currently working on 4g gsm technology. So by 2012, VZW and ATT will be compatible.

@nick011797 MOST LIKELY YES, BUT AT&T WOULD NOT HAVE THE NEW IPHONE. THEY WOULD JUST CONTINUE WITH THE IPHONE 3G/3GS. LIKE THE SITUATION WITH THE PALM PRE AND PIXI. PRE AND PIXI ARE SILL AVAILABLE FOR SPRINT, BUT THE PRE PLUS AND PIXI PLUS ARE FOR VERIZON.

i talked to a lady at verizon and she said they will never offer the iphone because they don't like how you can't just change the battery; you have to get a whole new phone.

i work for verizon and it was supposed to go to verizon but because of the battery issue they didnt take it on and it went to att.....
they are in contract talks to make it with a removable battery till then who knows....may just get an apple device not iphone they said

Verizon is NOT going to get the iPhone like AT&T did. Once Verizon rolls out LTE any customer will be able to activate and use iPhone on Verizon's Network because LTE is backward compatible. I personally do not like iPhone but for those who can't live without it and tired of dropped calls Verizon is the best option.

If you have a 3GS or older, you WILL be having to buy a new iPhone. Yes they have a contract with AT&T, but anyone with an iPhone knows that it runs on the GSM network. Version is NOT on the GSM network. They are going to have to completely reinvent the iPhone's inner workings, because as of right now it's hardware is only compatible with GSM networks.
(GSM networks are AT&T, T-Mobile, and Virgin Mobile)
So prepare to open up your wallets, Verizon customers.

@elementsk84life1 Yeah. As long as you got then from iTunes, you should be able to transfer them no problem. Just make sure they're synced to your iTunes library, and once you sync your iPhone, they should transfer no problem.

What I've done to get out of a cntract before is call them up and tell them you're moving, and "insert cell phone carrier here" does not have service in that area, so you have no choice. Worked for me :)

I'm currently with Verizon. My 2-year contract is up in November 2010, and I was totally planning on getting on getting an iPhone cuz I've heard about this for a while too.
If the screen isn't full size, I might refrain though...
I have an iPod touch and the keyboard already frustrates me enough.

It's just rumors about the screen. I really don't see Apple making it any smaller, as the other competing phones, have a larger screen then the iPhone. So I don't think that's going to happen. But I'd like to see an iPhone Mini/Nano. I think it'd be a pretty cool option!
