@Dragopent On a an older single action, so if the gun is dropped, it won't go off. On older single action revolvers, if all six chambers were loaded and the gun was dropped it could go off. Double action revolvers and newer single action revolvers such as the Ruger Blackhawk have transfer bars in them so that unless that bar comes between the firing pin and hammer, it will not fire.

@dsportnissan cause they broke to often. they had many problems with this big caliber. there are a lot of people who would not recommend taurus revolvers chambered for big calibers such as the 500 sw magnum, the 454 casull or even the 44 magnum... I really love my super reliable smith and wesson revolver chambering the .500 sw. its very reliable!

@dsportnissan you must be real careful when shooting in the house rounds can go through walls after going through the purp yea they will be expired but were did the round go after that. If you do use a light load and small grain round like the ones that pilots use. OIIIIIIIO :).

@ReGinoPino2 The 500S&W is by far more powerful than the .50AE. Muzzle energies of over 3000 ft. Lbs. with factory ammunition are common with the 500. The highest muzzle energy figures I have seen for the .50AE have been around 1600 ft. Lbs. It is also worth mentioning that IMI, makers of the Desert Eagle state that use of any reloaded ammo will void any and all warranties. This means factory ammo only. Handloads in the 500S&W could possibly be higher velocity and energy without penalty.
