I watched a Danish production of Hercules as a musical today.... I fell in love with Dionysos.. May just be the way they did him.. But he was really, really awesome <3
sexual degeneration? by the looks of it you are a pagan too, like me, but the dacian gods were also associated with wine and chotnic properties like Sabazius
i always thought Dionysus was a useless God. I mean, think about it! All the other Olympian Gods have cool titles like the God of Thunder, God of War, God of Love, and he's a God of WINE?!! I mean what's next, the God of playing with yourself ?
@eddiemurphyfan100 well it's actually a bit more spiritual than that, the grapevine's cultivation and an understanding of its life cycle (believe to embody the living god) and the fermentation of wine from its dismembered body (associated with the god's essence in the underworld). Most importantly, however, the intoxicating and disinhibiting effects of wine were regarded as due to possession by the god's spirit
please dont just see this figure as an ancient god! hes actually together ´with apollon,a metafor for the human right brain. These two figures represents and covers all of the human features and sides. researching after this has changed my life, please check out Hemispheres by Rush and Deep inner game by David Deangelo.
sexual degeneration? dude that's a very old opinion, you should review your knowledge of Dionysus. unfortunately I don't make videos for youtube but I publish books.
In some ways Bacchus speaks to man more than the Christian Christ. For Bacchus is truly with man far more than some far off concept of an all encompasing father figure.
Perhaps it is the concept of Dionysus that reminds us to cherish our senses that have evolved to seek pleasure... to revel in our bodies. It may be the same message that Anton LaVey sought to share with the Satanic Bible. Selfishness can also embody virtue! For example. I seek to prevent your harm, as it would by extention cause me harm. I believe Rousseau's view of the 'state of nature' is accurate, we possess natural empathy. In conclusion, Bacchus represents a morally viable archetype.
In fact, we can argue that the very notion of "sin" is somewhat relative to a cultural framework and perspective. If the Mystery Cults of Dionysus were indeed largely made up of marginalized individuals within Greek society, (slaves, women) then they could provide a sense of liberation and freedom. One could argue that current societal structures and ways of thinking can be limiting in that we are not raised from an ethical egoistic standpoint.....our obligations seem never to be to our selves.
Dionysus is a powerful concept. Archetypes become idealized figures that embody human characteristics. In the same breath we can menton nietzche who championed Dionysus as representing the ideals humanity should strive for. These ideals have the power to bring us closer to our true, inner animalistic nature. The parallel between wine as an ethnogen and its usaged in contemporary christanity is rather interesting and how the image of the satyr was appropriated to represent the devil.
I was born in the winter, His season. My nickname for my life has been Nysa. I was born under Chiron's sign, associated with Dionysus. My colour is purple, and I love wine. I also worship Dionysus. :D It's all meant to be.
@budgiebudgielover you worship a mere jann? Someone who came out of a vagina? Your people i do not understand. Dionysus is a liar and will never be a god. He is a jinn who was created by THE TRUE GOD and gets his power from naive people like you.
He is not a God in the same sense of The Creator, he's considered an aspect of Creator. It's deeper than you understand. He is a god though, a spirit deity that represents certain aspects of life, and through that we see a certain aspect of the Creator.
@budgiebudgielover Oh I understand alright. He's just another false god that THE TRUE GOD (not jesus) warned us about. THE TRUE GOD created these spirits from fire before man was created, and they're being tested on rather or not they'll oppress men by fooling us into thinking that they're worthy of worship over the TRUE CREATOR. Just like we desire money, power and material things, they desire spiritual power and wish to be like GOD. They have diffrnt attributes so men fall for it often.
@GeneralAmeli0 he was represented either as very manly or very feminine, sometimes charmer of women sometimes a drunk, and besides "sexual degeneration" is quite self explenatory
