@MassielMaite My thoughts exactly. I was thinking the same thing moments ago. He has got more talent in his left finger than most so called "stars" today. I forgot about this "star" until I saw him on PBS tonight.
@tunenut122 And he's elegant and graceful. His talent is not only music, but being gracious, and having a politeness and respect for his fans by working so hard on presentation as performance. I like your comment about the "little finger". I bet it had a ring on it too ;)
I'm so glad Liberace was Gay! No straight guy could have ever pulled off this type of performance, despite the sour critics, let alone his ability to put himself in a "compromising" position and enjoy it so thourghly. Bravo!
omg 5:00 - 5:09 A Spanish white - hair Hitler is playing the "cha cha cha" (the shadow of his nose looks like a mustache) lols nah im kidding. the same charisma although they are not of the same flesh and blood. Liberace is awesomeeeeee!!!
Liberace was one of the worlds best, musicans, past or present ,this video proves that point with out a doubt. What a great performance by a master show man.Take care ADonovan43
I am so glad that he was within my lifetime. How fortunate for me that I lived to see Liberace perform. I am still in awe filled with gratitude. I miss him terribly.
Malageña was composed by the great Ernesto Lecuona of Cuba. Cumbanchero was composed by Rafael Hernandez of Puerto Rico in Cuban style music. Rumba/Guaracha style.
I saw Librace in '68 at the Latin Casino in NJ -he was incredible! wore a different jacket with each song and for the finale his jacket LIT UP the room (all floor lights off)
Stellar performance! Although I think it's hilarious that he said "Olé" even though the original composers were Cuban and Puerto Rican... Lol, stereotypes.
What a talented musician - he worked very hard to get that good - and according to the tributes paid to him by Milton Burell and other top notch entertainers ... He was a very decent human being.
por algo Liberace se daba el gusto de ser extravagante, el q tiene talento no le debe a nadie y se puede dar gustos como los que el se dio..fabuloso el!
As great a pianist as Liberace was, Malaguena was written by Cuban Ernesto Lecuona, Cumbanchero was written by Puerto Rican and Harlem Hellfighter Rafael Hernandez both of which were prolific writers of classic music.
@dj20051991 The piano lid is made of plexiglass. Liberace came up with the idea for thesee-thru lid during his 1950's TV series so the TV cameras would have an unobstuctive view.
First he did not say the music was from Spain, all he said was that the Spanish audience responded well to the program he put together with a "Latin nature" as a way to reinforce the idea that music is a universal language.
So please listen carefully before you "pontificate".
For anyone who is curious, this music was composed in Latin America by Hispanics, but the compositions are referring to Spanish landmarks and culture.
WOW!!!!!! What facility he had at the keyboard! What a command he had of his instrument! Liberace's technique was so free! I am in awe of him! a billion stars!!!!!!! ******** Such a musician and showman!!!!!!!!!
I loved his colorful suits and costumes. I met Liberace's sister Lora years ago while in Las Vegas. She took me for a grand tour of his museum. She was quite gracious and so very kind. Liberace was one my very favorite entertainers. He knew what the very esscence of the word being a "Performer" was really all about. Nice video here and thanks for sharing it.
Ah - yes! That would be a true thing to say. His generosity of spirit knew no bounds. His family and friends shared with me the most heartwarming stories about his kindness to others. It showed in everything he did. How wonderful to meet you here and share such a memory with you. God bless and all the joys of the season to you also!
Its sad to think that todays so called entertainers are a five minute wonder and only in it for the money. To them its a J.O.B Liberace was exhilarating and alive - even if he wasnt feeling well - it never showed
Indeed! I was told for his final performances at Radio City Music Hall he had oxygen tanks back stage so he could continue on. He gave of himself tirelessly. It saddens me greatly when I hear people slander him so, without any real knowledge of the man behind the legend. The world is a better place for Liberace having been in it!
My friends mother grew up next door to Liberace when he was a youth. She told me that he would run home from school to practice each and every day. He knew from the get go that he wanted to be a professional pianist. He was good at what he did!
I was priviledged to see Liberace in Melbourne Australia in 1985. What a performance. he was such a gracious man and very humble. Also a very lonely man, but gave 110% at each of his performances
This man is profoundly talented beyond comprehension. At one point he glances up to the camera and lends a wink. When I was younger I didn't appreciate his talents. But now, thank goodness for youtube I get to see what I missed out on.
I was privalaged to see him live out here in South Africa. Nobody could ever replace such a talent. What can one say.....there will never be another Liberace.
I'm not being mean but did he wear a toupe (sorry not sure how to spell it) or was his hair real? I admire the talent this man had there has been no other like him. I feel robbed that I (pianist of 20 years) have never checked out Liberace before! The only thing I knew about him was that he was gay and wore sequence! It makes me sick to think people do not appreciate him more

well im 35 and retired as an entertainer on the piano and was called the next Liberace even though i had never heard him play until youtube. well, he is trully the greatest with the pinano, not his clothes, but music. what happend to fast and technical music today.. it's all so depressing, but back then it was fast and drinilling rushing! awesome!
