His wife was having an affair with the interior decorator and he wrote the lyrics on the back of the decorator's stationary. He jokingly said he was keeping that piece of paper because it would help him in his retirement. -- Not that he needs anything! I know at one time there was a rumor about his seeing someone drown but he said that was a myth.
