Hi, just found this. Fell in love with the REAL Dodgers when I was in my early teens, and was devastated to discover they'd ceased to exist before I was even born! Follow the Indians; Red Sox & Devil Rays; BOTH Chicago teams, but the BROOKLYN DODGERS will always be MY team! Thanks, Ray, Blairgowrie, Scotland (bn: 1962)
@u01623a yea, i'm tired of these young kids thinking its a red sox hat. last night in the bar some yankees fans tried to fight me because they were convinced i had a red sox hat on.
Great post! THE catch by Sandy Amoros is simply breathtaking. Miraculous. And it saved the 7th game and thus the World Series for Brooklyn. One of baseball's most under-rated plays.
WE lost the last of the full tome Boys of Summer this weekend. The world will never know their kind again. Too bad my grandchildren will never know the way the game is supposed to be. God Bless the Duke
@flashash2k9 It's called the World Series because back when baseball was up and coming, they called it "World Series" in hopes that it would catch on and be played world wide. Much like Soccer. (for those that claim soccer is not the term for football...it is. It originated in England in the 1870s I believe)
@Christophersboyd oh i get you. btw baseball is played in the uk, only with a different bat and no pads. also i believe the word soccer came from the abreviation of association football, alike rugby used to be called rugger.
@flashash2k9 Yeah, Baseball is played across the world. There is a World baseball classic that is an international tournament. And you are correct, soccer was derived from asSOCiation football. It originated in England 1860's. ('63?)
@billny33 His name was Lew Fonseca. (Eventually, the people who put out those World Series films turned the narration over to the announcers who actually covered the teams...like Pittsburgh's Bob Prince or the Yankees' Mel Allen.)
After the final out, Vin Scully was speechless for several minutes. But he didn't need to say anything; the crowd's reaction said it all. When Vinny was able to speak again, all he could say was "Ladies and gentlemen.....the Brooklyn Dodgers are the world champions of baseball." No more needed to be said.
Allright sir. Ok I'll hook you up my FTP username = nikkan7052 =]

From 1947 to 1957 Dem Bums were the greatest team in Baseball in my Opinion for the Record Sandy Koufax didn't pitch in the 55 World Series he was on the Bench. They sent Tommy Lasorda back down to Triple A for Sandy Koufax. The Yanks may have been Kings but the Dodgers were the greatest Underdogs of the day. There will never be another Brooklyn Dodgers but we can only Dream oh we can only dream
Don't get fooled by these "Los Angeles" Imposters who called themselves "The Dodgers". Remember this, "The Dodgers" are all about "big business" and money. The Franchise left "Brooklyn". "The Dodgers" cared less about History and Tradition. If that is really the case, "The Organization' should of stayed in Brooklyn. Tommy Lasarda is a "Los Angeles Fan". It's a slap in the face for someone to say that "The Los Angeles Dodgers" were based in Brooklyn before 1957.
This was the year I became a Dodger fan. Gil Hodges was my hero, later it was the great Sandy. In retrospect tho, Yogi was right. Jackie was out at the plate.
this was the culmination of baseball there is only fake baseball now--heroes like the dodgers (BROOKLYN dodgers) bo longer exist and oddly villains like the Yankees don't exist either.
Born in L.A., die hard Phillies fan though (Dads from Philly) and I loved going to Dodgers games at Dodger Stadium as a kid but man would I have loved to go to a game at the original Yankee Stadium, Ebbets Field and Polo Grounds, and I would do almost anything to get a chance to go to game 7 of the '55 series, if any BK Dodger fans are on here, great game you got listen to or watch
Baseball has become a joke. Basically the ownership cow tows and has for decades to the Yankees, who can basically buy teams. The Yankees prior to Free Agency, basically could steal players from teams like Kansas City. Heck, the dumb Red Bags held a garage sale to get rid of Babe Ruth.
The Dodgers and Giants weren't able to compete with the Yanks and had to pack their bags and slink out of town. How "beloved" is your team if you can't make enough money to stay in the biggest metropolitan area in the US? So they fled to the West Coast. Boo hoo! They can move to Honolulu and Manila for all I care. GO YANKEES!!
@coxx5150 I really don't know, but I know what you mean. I'm going to game 2 which falls on my birthday. My cousins' a yankee fan and I'm a dodger fan. Should be fun.
sorry boxingfan--I can go with the Lakers but LA Dodgers no--1957 end of baseball. Actually I kind of like LA but if you think you got the Dodgers--well think again.
Arogant. Paris is in France and you need a PASSPORT thats a PASSPORT to leave your country and watch out for the Euro it may kick the dollar off top mark, maybe it might happen. But you,ve always got The World Series
no, no one else plays cuz they are to lazy to get their azzez over here besides we have the best players of the world here so what would they bring over? the tokyo giants?
As a die hard yankees fan, i still have to respect the brooklyn dodgers. Dem bums finally did it, good for them. they never should have moved the team. Because they lost six of seven world series to the yanks? Who cares? u don't move a team with that large a fanbase that won the series 2 years prior!!!!!! The giants were a dying team that couldnt compete with yanks and dodgers anymore. they had every right to be moved. But the Dodgers? u know darn well that shit wouldn't fly today.
Too bad Brooklyn. The City Of New York allowed "The Dodgetrs" to leave Brooklyn. Los Abgeles is a place for "imposters". Los Angeles is the City OF Hollywood. The Real Dodger legacy is in Brooklyn, but "Who Cares" ? Not Los Angeles nor "The Dodgers Organization". Robert Moses, Abe Stark, Robert Wagner are the "crooks" wjo allowed "The Dodgers" to leave.
Yes, 1941 (Yanks in 5), 1947 (NY in 7), 1949 (NY in 7), 1952 (NY in 7 Brooklyn losing the last 2 games at home), 1953 (NY in 6), 1955 (Brooklyn's only win in 7) and 1956 (NY in 7).
It's charming how the editing makes this clip almost impossible to follow. Hard to tell where one game ends and another begins. But that's part of the charm.
ive always heard of the amoros catch, but ive never saw it in film. it wasnt the greatest catch ive seen from the world series, but the fact that it was in the sun near the foul pole, thats what made it famous.
The thing that made it impressive was the fact that Amoros was playing more toward center due to Yogi Berra's tendancy to pull the ball, hence having a lot longer to run in order to make the play.
I watched the last game played at Yankee Stadium (on tv, of course) They had an interview with Yogi about Jackie stealing home and he got hot. "He never stole home on me!" Ah man, better days. I'm a Cubs fan but lotta love and respect for the Yanks, wish teams and fans would do the same.
I'm enjoying the World Series from a computer in Philadelphia. I'll be routing for the Phillies.
Jeff Fisher Democrat who really scares the shit out of the Entire Bush Adminstration for he has God in his life 100% & true loyalty & Patriotism for WeThePeople of America & peace for all of mankind regarding the entire planet.

A complete Divorce from its "Brooklyn Fans". The move from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. "Greed", "New York City Politics" and "Los Angeles Pokitics". The steal in "World History" next to purchasing "Manhattan Island" from Native Americans. The City Of Los Angeles stole "The Dodgers" from "Brooklyn".
my family (i'm 14) was some of the biggest dodger fans in brooklyn. when they left, my family didnt watch baseball until the mets came to town. they werent much better, so we became yankee fans. i'd still be a dodger fan today if they were here
lol youre a comedian. before you start calling out the yankees take a look at the shit team of your own. to start, you havent won a world series in 20 years. try getting 26 championships before you start callin the shots
Hey, Anybody remember when Bill Mazorouski, Pittsburgh Pirates Clobered "The Yankees in the 1960 World Series, at "Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Pa? "The Bill Mazorouski Homerun".
Yankees lost the 1960 World Series. "Holy Cow" by Phil Rizutto, and "How About that" by
Mel Allen. Now that was a Ballantine Beer Blast. Do you agree "Yankee Fans"? RETURN TO "FORBES FIELD". Yogi Berra can tell you about that World Series at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh back in 1960. Let's talk about that World Series.
I was a paper boy outside of a factory and some wild man came running out screaming "The Pirates won it!!! Mazeroski homered!!!" And this was in Stamford, CT, 25 miles away from Yankee Stadium. Check out Mantle's commentary about this Series.I think it is in Ken Burns' Baseball. Mantle cried afterward because he thought the Yanks were the better team. Probably right. Bombed them in 3 games. But the Bucs were scrappy and held on. God bless 'em. Now THAT is baseball! Great Series.
Look, Go see THE METS. GET IT OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM. THE BROOKLYN DODGERS DON'T EXIST. ROBERT MOSES SAID SO. MOSES WAN'T A BASEBALL FAN. "GO SEE THE METS.
Look, The Brooklyn Dodgers Fan and the New York Mets fan have something in commom. A New York Met is really "New York Giants" Orange & "Brooklyn Dodger Blue". Put it together, You have a "New York Mets" Image.
Man, Did Robert Moses made Brooklyn look like a "sucker". Moses was never a baseball fan. New York Politicians of the 1950's made the "Brooklyn Dodgers" non-existing. It is so sad. Robert Moses was the villian. Not Walter O' Malley.
Brooklyn, it should've been your team. I should be a Brooklyn Dodger's fan right now. Instead, I'm a NY Mets fan. The Mets are new Bums, and I think that they've got that same kind of style and relationship with the fans the Bums did.
Coincidentally, I liked Mike Piazza, who was traded to the Mets just as I started to like baseball, so there you go. Piazza preferred NY; if they'd been the BROOKLYN Dodgers, I just think he would've stayed. Whatever, Bums, Mets.....
were the Politicians that spelled "DOOM" for Brooklyn Dodger baseball. Remember that, These New York Piliticians took away your Dodgers from Brooklyn. Not Walter O' Malley. New York Politicians are still corrupt and crooked today. Look at Eliot Spitzer......
All the rest of the Dodgers Victories in the World SERIes after the 1957 Baseball season was supposed to be Brooklyn's. Sorry Brooklyn, The Dodgers were yours. You allowed Robert Moses and Robert Wagner to be your leaders.
Too bad Brooklyn. You never saw Sandy Koufax pitched a World Series in Brooklyn. You never saw Don Drysdale win a "World Series Game in Brooklyn. The 1959 World Series was suppose to be for Brooklyn. But, You loose Brooklyn. Robert Moses made you a looser.
face the reality Brooklyn. You are part of the State Of New York. The State Of New York currently have corrupt crooked Politicians today. The Dodgers aren't Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Dodgers don't exist. GO SEE THE METS.
Robert Moses demolished the 3rd Avenue Elevated Subway Line and the BMT Lexington Avenue Elevated Line in Brooklyn. You allowed Robert Moses to have too much authority & influence. So stop crying about "The Dodgers" left Brooklyn. Robert Moses, New York city Developer and Politician endorsed "The Dodgers" to leave Brooklyn. "TOO BAD". Read about Robert Moses. GO SEE THE METS you old Brooklyn Dodgers Baseball Fans.
Get this, "BROOKLYN IS A LOOSER". NO DODGERS. DON'T EVER FORGET THAT. Blame, Mr. Robert Moses and Former Mayor Robert Wagner. You named a park in honor of Robert Moses. Robert Moses took your team away. In a way, It wasn't Walter O' Malley's Fault for moving "The Dodgers" out of Brooklyn. The City Of Los Angeles are laughing at Brooklyn.
Sorry Brooklyn, Mr. Robert Moses feel that you have no class to have a Major League Baseball Team in Brooklyn.
The Dodhers organization today don't want any association with Brooklyn. The Dodgers act like that they had any association with Brooklyn. The Dodgers Organization "moved out" of their "Dodgertown" Florida Complex in Florida. It was the last link to Brooklyn. Forget "The Dodgers". The Dodgers snubed Brooklyn. GO SEE THE METS. "LETS GO METS". For you Old "Giants" Fans, well "How is San Francisco? "NO GIANTS". Man, The City Politicians of the 1940's and 1950's really screwed up "Big Time".
Robert Moses is why they left walter wanted to bulid a state of the art ballpark where an old meat wherehouse use to be. Watch the HBO doc ghosts of flatbush.
I have a ticket stub from the Sunday July 24 1955 game in mint condition, gate B section 21 row 8 seat 17 EBBETS FIELD, if any ones interested in it make me an offer
No thank You. The Old Ticket is "worthless". What can you do with it? It's very surprising that the ticket is still around. Absolutely "worthless". Just like brooklyn, The Dodgers feel that Brooklyn is not in the class of Los Angeles. Tommy Lasorda always keep saying "I bleed Dodger Blue" "Dodgers this, "Dodgers that". Tommy Lasorda aint no true Dodger Propaganda. Lasorda always talking "Los Angeles". Lasorda don't give a %$#&^*@ about Brooklyn.
The hard fact Brooklyn is "The Dodgers" left you forever. "The Dodgers" are married to Los Angeles. But, "The Dodgers" divorced Brooklyn. Last Stop Brooklyn. You LOOSE. "End Of the Line". Brooklyn Professional Baseball is locked in an "Eternal Past". You are forever Divorced by "The Dodgers".
your an asshole. the dodgers are still in the history of brooklyn and the history of brooklyn is still in the dodgers. theyre gone but not forgotten, i still root for them
Look Man, There is no Brooklyn Dodgers. Kepp saying to yourself "There are no Brooklyn Dodgers." The "Brooklyn Dodgers" were a thing of the past. Look at the present, GO SEE THE METS. Robert Moses didn't want Brooklyn Dodger Major League Baseball. "Brooklyn Loose by a score of 4-0." Courtesy Of Former Mayor Robert Wagner & Former New York City Developer Robert Moses. NO MORE DODGER BASEBALL EVER IN BROOKLYN.
i dont give a shit aobut the dodgers anymore. after the hometown team left, my family became yankee fans. and yeah, no more dodger baseball in brooklyn, but the brooklyn history is in the dodgers, and the dodger history is home in brooklyn. so yeah fuck off, LA dodgers suck anyway. GO YANKEES
You're a looser. Remember that Brooklyn. You just don't have it. You should of plan to get a new stadium in the late 1940's. There is no hope and plans for Brooklyn to have a Major League Baseball Team for the future. The Dodgers feel that you aren't in the "Class of Los Angeles". "Brooklyn", You just don't have it. You're the big looser. Go See THE METS. Brooklyn, you are a Baseball Forgotten City. Brooklyn is "Baseball Defeated". Blame Robert Moses, and Abe Stark. You are long forgotten.
The Biggest Steal of the Baseball World, Los Angeles gained "The Brooklyn Dodgers Baseball team" at the end of the 1957 Baseball Season. GO SEE THE METS. THE METS HAVE TROUBLE BEATING THE ATLANTA BRAVES.
Brooklyn is not in the Class of Los Angeles. Former Brooklyn Dodgers Players love Los Angeles. These Former players don't give a &*%#@ about Brooklyn. The Dodgers Organization cared less about Brooklyn. So the Dodger ORGANIZATION LEFT FLATBUSH. Brooklyn, You're a looser forever. You was did in by New York City Politicians back in 1957. Look, The BMT Lexington Avenue Elevated Subway Line was demolished in 1950. Robert Moses, it was believed, was responsible for that. It was Brooklyn's first El.
Ebbets Field Baseball Stadium dont exist. The Brooklyn Dodgers don't exist. Walter O' Malley is long gone. Reality is "There is no such thing as Brooklyn Dodgers". Brooklyn pays the price. Brooklyn, you have nothing. Los Angeles is laughing at you. Los Angeles stole "The Dodgers" from Brooklyn. GO SEE THE METS. It is essential that the Brooklyns see THE METS. You will never het "The Dodgers" back again. FACE IT. Brooklyn is "Sports Defeated". The Final Score, Los Angeles 4 Brooklyn 0.
Stop living in the past. This is a hard Cold fact, The Brooklyn Dodgers don't exist. No more Dodger Baseball in Brooklyn ever again. "Forever". Brooklyn Lost. The City Of Los Angeles are laughing at Brooklyn. It was a steal. stop living in the past. Go get a life. See a Pscychiatrist. O' Malley got as much out of Brooklyn than he expected. Your New York City Local Politicians did you in back in 1957. Did you voted for them? At least, you still have the Brooklyn Bridge. L.A. has "The Dodgers".
Go see "The Mets". Brooklyn is a looser. Major League baseball long forsaken Brooklyn. They feel that "Brooklyn" is not in the same Class as Los Angeles. The fact is "No More Brooklyn Dodgers". Remember that. Brooklyn is a Big Looser. Go see The Mets.
Look Pal, "The Dodgers" are gone forever. It is nothing you can do about it. "Get a Life". The "Brooklyn Dodgers" are no such thing. If you want to complain about it, Send your complaint to "New York's City Hall". "City Hall" did "Brooklyn" in. Again, Former Mayor Robert Wagner & Former New York City Developer Robert Moses told the Dodgers to get lost. Moses refused to build a stadium for "The Dodgers". Therefore, Brooklyn is a Giant Looser. "The Dodgers" don't give a #@%*$& about you.
A Capitol symbol of Greed for Money.... This Dodger Organization is an example. A Mive from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. The Dodgers never want to be re-called as "The Brooklyn Dodgers". They wished its organization came from Brooklyn. New York's Fromer Mayor Robert Wagner and New York city Developer Robert Moses told the Dodgers "Get Lost".
The lesson to learned about this is "The Love for money is the root of all evil". I'm not the originator of that quote. Money controls everything here on this earth. This Dodger Organization forsaken Brooklyn. It's the worsest didplay of greed ever in Modern time.
The Dodgers are not Brooklyn. "Face the Present Reality". YOU LOST.....There is no such thing as "Brooklyn Dodgers". Stop living in the past. Brooklyn is a Major League Looser. Major League Baseball forsaken Brooklyn years ago. FACE IT MAN. You Lost...
Keep saying to yourself, "The Dodgers aren't Brooklyn". "The Dodgers aren't Brooklyn". Brooklyn is a Baseball Looser". You Lost the Dodgers. "Too Bad". GO SEE THE METS.
NO, You're the looser. You don't have "The Dodgers" anymore. Blame Robert Moses & Former New York Mayor Robert Wagner. Those two New York City Politicians allowed the Dodgers to move West. YOU ARE THE LOOSER. FACE IT. GO WATCH THE METS. The Dodgers don't give a %&^#@& about you.....
To the Dodgers today, Brooklyn is "third fiddle". Forget Brooklyn, The Dodgers belong to a "Private Enterprise" who loves "Los Angeles". Brooklyn, You're a "Big Forgotten Looser". "Sorry". Blame robert Moses & Former New York City Mayor Robert Wagner. Dodgers say "Sorry" "Too Bad". Mr. Walter Francis O'Malley, who was born in Brooklyn, made the decision to go to Los Angeles because Robert Moses, A New York City Developer, refused to build a Baseball Stadium for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers care less about Brooklyn. THe Dodgers act like that they wish they were never from BROOKLYN. Brooklyn is just a faint memory to the Dodgers Organization. The Dodgers divorced Brooklyn.
Oh I remember that final game like it happened yesterday. Was listening to a kid's Motorola portable radio (not a transistor radio but a tube radio)outside the Ridgewood theater on Madison Street just below Cypress Ave in Brooklyn.
When the Yanks made the last out the kid said, that's it- Dodgers are World Champs- and turned off the radio. Wow, all the kids were yelling and screaming except my cousin, he was a Yankee's fan. I finally got payback after all those years!
It was a time when the common man could afford to go to a game without taking out a loan.
If you went to the dugout chances were that your kid could get an autograph- For Free.
It was a time of true heroes and idols. Someone kids could look up to and cheer.
They took baseball and made it a Corporate machine. Screw them all.

Robert Moses, Abe Stark, Robert Wagner are the "crooks" wjo allowed "The Dodgers" to leave.

ive always heard of the amoros catch, but ive never saw it in film. it wasnt the greatest catch ive seen from the world series, but the fact that it was in the sun near the foul pole, thats what made it famous.
KOFILMSANDMEDIA 3 years ago
The thing that made it impressive was the fact that Amoros was playing more toward center due to Yogi Berra's tendancy to pull the ball, hence having a lot longer to run in order to make the play.

Let's talk about that World Series.
jkmlight 3 years ago 2
I was a paper boy outside of a factory and some wild man came running out screaming "The Pirates won it!!! Mazeroski homered!!!" And this was in Stamford, CT, 25 miles away from Yankee Stadium. Check out Mantle's commentary about this Series.I think it is in Ken Burns' Baseball. Mantle cried afterward because he thought the Yanks were the better team. Probably right. Bombed them in 3 games. But the Bucs were scrappy and held on. God bless 'em. Now THAT is baseball! Great Series.

Not Walter O' Malley.
jkmlight 3 years ago
The Old Brooklyn Dodgers Fan is really a "New York Mets Fan". Yes, there are New York Giants Baseball fans who are now Mets Fan's.
jkmlight 3 years ago
Brooklyn, it should've been your team. I should be a Brooklyn Dodger's fan right now. Instead, I'm a NY Mets fan. The Mets are new Bums, and I think that they've got that same kind of style and relationship with the fans the Bums did.
Coincidentally, I liked Mike Piazza, who was traded to the Mets just as I started to like baseball, so there you go. Piazza preferred NY; if they'd been the BROOKLYN Dodgers, I just think he would've stayed. Whatever, Bums, Mets.....
Yogi........ :D

Robert Moses, Abe Stark, Mayor Robert Wagner
were the Politicians that spelled "DOOM" for Brooklyn Dodger baseball. Remember that, These New York Piliticians took away your Dodgers from Brooklyn. Not Walter O' Malley. New York Politicians are still corrupt and crooked today. Look at Eliot Spitzer......

You're the big looser. Go See THE METS. Brooklyn, you are a Baseball Forgotten City. Brooklyn is "Baseball Defeated". Blame Robert Moses, and Abe Stark. You are long forgotten.

Ebbets Field Baseball Stadium dont exist. The Brooklyn Dodgers don't exist. Walter O' Malley is long gone. Reality is "There is no such thing as Brooklyn Dodgers". Brooklyn pays the price.

Look Pal, "The Dodgers" are gone forever. It is nothing you can do about it. "Get a Life". The "Brooklyn Dodgers" are no such thing.
