Hans Zimmer is one of the best film composers alive and his music totally made this movie. Without the music you think "this is a very interesting and well done movie" but with his music is more like "Holly Shit!!! this movie is a complete mind fuck!!!! AAAAAHHH". And less not forget this is the man that composed the awesome film scores for The Dark Knigh (specially Joke's theme), The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, among others..... James Newton Howard helped too........
There's a layer that most of you aren't getting here. The director is trying to make the point that the shared dream world is a allegory for FILM and CINEMA. Each person plays a part in constructing this world (movie) for example, the architect perhaps a screenwriter. Cobb, the director, etc.
I think the movie was interesting, but a little bit too confusing. Like the director was all, "OH! If we confuse people enough they might think it's good!"
@AssassinRecruit Exactly! And at the same time, they are both equally right. Nolan has two endings existing simultaneously, the first telling a story, the second creating an allegory in which the "shared dream world" exists as a metaphor for FILM and CINEMA.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! I'd rate it a million out of ten. When I and my best friend watched it, we were dying of anticipation. Not to mention the hoooooooooooooot cast. Leonardo DiCaprio? Dayum. Joseph Gorden-Levitt? Dayummm. Cillian Murphey? DAYUMMM. Real thought provoker. Love it. Christopher Nolan is a freakin' genius.
I really liked the special features that showed how they filmed the shifting/zero-gravity scenes. Thinking of how they filmed it boggled my mind until it was revealed in the special features.
I think it was a dream. If it`s not your dream, the projections all look at you...everyone in the airport was staring at Cobb. That makes you think they`re still in Satio`s dream. The top "Wobbles" but doesn`t stop. And how did Cobb`s father in law get from Paris to the USA in the 10 hour flight that they were making? Why were the kids wearing the exact same outfits? I believe the entire movie was a dream from the very beginning :[
I know it's late but I have the explanation. So Cobb used the top to see if he was in a dream, but the top was MAL's totem, and since every totem has to "be unique and something only you can identify", its not possible for the top to have been Cobbs totem. Cobbs totem was his wedding ring. In his dreams he was still married (as he said in the film) and if you watch again, hes wearing his ring in his dreams, but it's gone in reality. At the end of the film when he spins the top, NO RING!
@ltjboy03 Exactly what i though from the beginning :) I just have one question, I think i missed something but what is the difference between Cobb when he is in a dream and us? ... You know what i mean? Cause am not able to have a dream like him where i can control everything. So what is the science of the idea... How they do this... i get the point that they have a system to connect themselves with other people dream but when they are not connected, how it works lol . How Cobb created his world
I personally think the end wasn't a dream. I'd give the movie a 9.5 just because sometimes it was so confusing with all the dreams inside dreams and stuff.
@mrmusicrocks1 Just because you got confused, deosn't mean you take off points. That deosn't make sense. That's like saying you hate it because it was too complex for you.
The ending of the movie was not a dream. The point was that the top would never fall in a dream, correct? So we did see the top fall repeatedly throughout the movie, meaning the beginning was not a dream. Assuming we can trust the top, then originally, he was in the real world.
Then we saw him on the airplane - meaning he returned to that reality - which we know from earlier was not a dream. And in that reality, he returns to his children without going into another dream. So it seems the top not quite falling at the end was the movie's way of trying to make a happy ending mysterious.
Unless, of course, we begin to question whether the top was a reliable method of determining this, since it was not his original totem, but his wife's. However, if that's the case, it doesn't much matter if the top falls, a it's unreliable anyway.
Whaaaaat? You guys didn't even bring up the important question of what Cobb's totem was (before he kept his wife's). My brother and I agreed that it was his children (or rather, their faces, since he never sees them outside of the dream, and refuses to look at his wife's projection of them), suggesting he "got out" at the end. The answer isn't as important as the question itself. Anyway, I couldn't escape the feeling that even the "real" world at the beginning of the film was a dream... trippy.
Christopher Nolan himself said that he thinks that the ending is real and that DiCaprio was awake. Then Michael Caine said it was real since he was in the scene, he's never there when it was a dream.
At the end the rotating thing is also seen slowing down. So it was real ;) Christopher Nolan simply made us believe it wasn´t. Sounds Genious. But he planted an inception in our minds if you look at it ;) hehehehe.
It wasn´t a dream. He Didn´t have his wedding ring on, wich he only had in his dreams. The grandfather talked to him in the beggining of the movie. saying he "needed to get back to reality", and that he also had stopped doing what he does. Going into other´s dreams. So he could have never been with Cobb at that time, unless it was a Dream. But the aspect that gave it away were the kids. They were older in the last scene. =) Plus in the credits you can see 4 kids being listed.
I think it's kind of obvious that there isn't an answer. Neither is right nor wrong. It's intentionally left blank so that people will continue to wonder and talk about it instead of saying "Ok, now we know. What's coming out next week?"
I believe that he was dreaming and that if they do an Inception 2, it be about him realizing that he is dreaming and to wake up. Have you ever thought of this, Cobb said that he knew that Inception was possible because he did it to his wife, What if the real inception was Cobb planting an idea in himself and forgot, What if the real inception was Cob's view of Reality not Mal's
I love this! I was watching this between classes at school and I was covering my mouth trying not to burst out laughing! Oh my gosh! the slow mo- banana thing I almost lost it! haha You guys are great! haha i love this thing that i hope you make a thing ;D
I'd give Inception a 10! I think that any movie that can literally mess with your head and make you dream differently?? c'mon That movie was awesome :)
First of all, how is Cobb able to use his wife's totem, doesn't that mess something up????? Second of all, when Ariadne goes into the dream for the first time with Cobb and then she dies and they wake up, Cobb runs to the other room to make is totem spin to come to reality (basically). and it falls
Finally, if the second thing i stated makes perfect sense that means the top in the end was going to fall, but if my first ideas answer is "yes" then Mal did something to the top to mess with Cobb?
IMPORTANT>>>> throughout the hole movie you learn that a small a little thing can grow into such a big idea. this is proven right at the end of the movie were the top is show spinning but you dont know if it will fall over. giving you the idea that it was a dream.i know right. But you also learn that a idea can be not true by what they do throughout the movie. so is it a dream? no yes? well we will never no for sure. BUT to me. I would say the director intended it not be. or why almost fall?
LTA sucks now. Its not the same without Toby he made LTA so fun but now Phil is in charge. Oh and guess what? its not tech news any more its movie news remember when it was movies, video games, web, technology. This feels like a movie edition of The PDS and every episode now feel like that its not LTA bring Toby back
I like to think that Nolan purposefully made the movie so that the ending is ambiguous. I don't think he intended it to go either way, and that instead it is entirely up to the viewer.
When James says something about His children are 100 years old. No because In each dream level or w/e the time in the dream is longer. then it is in the Real world
It's annoying people get SO hung up on this. That's not the point, he spins it and then just walks away. Dream or not, the point is that he doesn't care about it anymore, he has what he wants and doesn't care if it's truely real.
@tidenburg it is the point, exactly, it's the biggest part of the movie. The whole reason people get hung up on this is because of the suspense, the wonder, "Is his biggest dream finally a reality, or is it just a dream in and of itself?"
@tidenburg If he didn't truely care he would be with his wife and his kids becouse thats all he wanted but he did everything he could to stil live in reality and not a dream and at the end he accomplished that becouse he didn't wear a ring!
i think the whole thing was a dream. or hes insane..... i think his wife was an idiot :) she was just like " this isnt real so im going to kill myself and ruin your life" but really it was all his fault instead of implanting in her mind that it wasnt real i would have just shot her and myself and we would have appeared back in the real world
the ending was meant to mean that he didnt care whether he was in a dream or not and he could just walk away from it. bacause throughout the movie he was constantly worried of whether hes in a dream or not but in the end he could just walk away.
The fine folks at CinemaBlend illustrate the wedding ring theory; which as far as I'm concerned wraps the whole thing up. Also, this should be a thing.
It wasn't a dream. Throughout the movie, there is this corresponding theme - Regret. One of Cobb's main regrets was NOT seeing his children's faces before he left. Everytime he is in a dream, he cannot see their faces. However, right at the end, we finally see them.
I THINK it doesn't matter whether the top fell or not. I think it's more of a symbol created through the filmmaking and not the story, and the uncertainty it creates in the audience represents an uncertainty the main character has in thinking that nothing is reality. He incepted his wife in a world they created, and he held onto her for so long that her dreams began to become his dreams, thus making him never truly believe he's in reality.
its a dream, coz his kids are the same age, and the top is still spinning which in the beginning he said that his wife new she was dreaming if the top never toppled over
For the zerog scene they built a vertical version of the corridor set, and hung all the actors by cables, and had all of the actors tighten their muscles to create a simulated zero gravity. Its on the "extraction mode" part of the blu ray. :DD
Totems are bullshit. He says no one is allowd to touch it. EVERYONE touches his totem. His doesnt have a weight, it just doesnt stop spinning, which once again is not liek the other totems. How can someone make a totem that spins forever in a dream? Totems prove youre not in your own dream, than why cant this all be his dream, and so his totem falls
i just LOVE LOV ELOVE the movie, but the totems are annoying. Prove. nothing. about the ending
After I watched this I said, "well hey I guess I have to go watch The Town before next Wednesday" Then that Wednesday passed and I said, "Ehh I guess that was because of Christmas" but now i'm at the point of saying, "What the fuck Defranco?"
@DsmooveFilms well ya, sxe is awesome, but he NEVER sticks to what he says he will. He's great, but has had more pipedream channels and segments then any youtuber i know. Still awesome though
I dont mean to be "That guy" but I couldnt help but feel that the way it was set up, how if you die you return to "reality", that it was almost suggesting that things would be fine once you died. Just the way that it made the top waver in the sense that it wasnt falling, but it wasnt spinning perfectly either i believe its basically saying that there may be something after death, even in life.
(I am not religious and dont mean for this to offend anyone with other beliefs)
It's funny how everybody thinks that the top determines whether it's a dream or not. That's not his totem, it's his wife's. His totem is his ring, so the top doesn't even matter at the end. It's just more stuff to confuse you
What about... Cobb "incepted" himself? Maybe a part of his subconscious is putting the thoughts he has during the movie into his head. Maybe the whole totem thing is a different Inception.
What I love about Inception is, no matter how crazy a theory is, it could be true. :D
Why do people think Inception was confusing? Yeah, it's complicated, but as long as you pay attention it's really not hard to follow. Each layer of the dream is distinct and they're shown in order, so I don't get what people find confusing about it.
@silverhawkroman even them facts could be false, only the TOTEM provides the knowledge of a dream or not, but totems could also be a dream. This question is why your woman went mad though xD
i think it is a story that never really ends. so we arent supposed to know if it is a dream. its a lot like Schroddinger's cat. it can be percieved either way and however you take it is the way it is.
I think it's the last scene was real. I think the reason why they ended the movie before the thing stops spinning is because like waking before you finish a dream. So it was just for effect....
The last scene pissed me off so much hahah. so I did research and the stirrer said the top does fall but they cut it there on purpose just to get the reaction everyone is having.
I really liked this. It's a cool idea for reviews but also gives multiple opinons.
One thing I gotta say is you have to get this show going again. The Love it/Hate it and interviews are great but I miss the video game/movie news part
Hans Zimmer is one of the best film composers alive and his music totally made this movie. The fine folks at CinemaBlend illustrate the wedding ring theory; which as far as I'm concerned wraps the whole thing up. Also, this should be a thing.

1: my totem would be a watch, and it would always be 4:15 in a dream.
2: you should make more of these... their funny...

Love it
Pyroinferno99 1 year ago
It wasn't a dream. Throughout the movie, there is this corresponding theme - Regret. One of Cobb's main regrets was NOT seeing his children's faces before he left. Everytime he is in a dream, he cannot see their faces. However, right at the end, we finally see them.
Therefore, he is ACTUALLY there.

This LTA episode was EPIC! And so was Inception, à 9.5! Best movie of the year imo!

Why does every LTA have this faggot fucking Phil Defranco? I hate this piece of dogshit where's Toby?

Actually Nolan does know how it ends and what it all means and he said that the loopholes on the net weren't completely or not right at all.

For the zerog scene they built a vertical version of the corridor set, and hung all the actors by cables, and had all of the actors tighten their muscles to create a simulated zero gravity. Its on the "extraction mode" part of the blu ray. :DD

in the movie theatre only, if you stay after to watch all of the credits and shit, it shows his totem falling!!! no garentees but my friend told me.
TheMonkeysign 1 year ago

Don't make false promises.

inception was good it gets a 9.5 and I think it was reality in the ending cuz the top was about to fall
ohemgee27 1 year ago
I dont mean to be "That guy" but I couldnt help but feel that the way it was set up, how if you die you return to "reality", that it was almost suggesting that things would be fine once you died. Just the way that it made the top waver in the sense that it wasnt falling, but it wasnt spinning perfectly either i believe its basically saying that there may be something after death, even in life.
(I am not religious and dont mean for this to offend anyone with other beliefs)

i was totally begging for the his totem to topple at the end :D
Cliffordthe1 1 year ago
It's funny how everybody thinks that the top determines whether it's a dream or not. That's not his totem, it's his wife's. His totem is his ring, so the top doesn't even matter at the end. It's just more stuff to confuse you

This was great!

lmao my low self esteem as my totem
Johnnyboy838 1 year ago
What about... Cobb "incepted" himself? Maybe a part of his subconscious is putting the thoughts he has during the movie into his head. Maybe the whole totem thing is a different Inception.
What I love about Inception is, no matter how crazy a theory is, it could be true. :D

At the end "Nasa does have anti-gravity chambers"
No, they dont. they have those microgravity planes the vomit comet or what ever it is

thumbs up if you hovered over a face to keep.
TheJackhartnoll 1 year ago
Why do people think Inception was confusing? Yeah, it's complicated, but as long as you pay attention it's really not hard to follow. Each layer of the dream is distinct and they're shown in order, so I don't get what people find confusing about it.
originalperfection 1 year ago
@originalperfection
the main plot really isnt confusing its all the intricate little sub plots and niches in the movie that make it really mind boggling

its easy, he isn't in a dream, because when his dreams were shown, 1. his kids' faces are never shown and 2. the company guy wasn't there.
But then again, that's how open endings are; to the imagination of the viewer.
silverhawkroman 1 year ago
@silverhawkroman even them facts could be false, only the TOTEM provides the knowledge of a dream or not, but totems could also be a dream. This question is why your woman went mad though xD

@TacTicOfficial i def will. goddamn this movie is awesome
Luckyhearts 1 year ago
i think it is a story that never really ends. so we arent supposed to know if it is a dream. its a lot like Schroddinger's cat. it can be percieved either way and however you take it is the way it is.
TacTicOfficial 1 year ago
I think it's the last scene was real. I think the reason why they ended the movie before the thing stops spinning is because like waking before you finish a dream. So it was just for effect....
Sk1nZ1y 1 year ago
The last scene pissed me off so much hahah. so I did research and the stirrer said the top does fall but they cut it there on purpose just to get the reaction everyone is having.
