No super soprano doing the high end melody. Guess you don't find them hanging around on street corners. Very pale version of the original recording but no doubt an entertaining live performance.
Absolutely amazing that he STILL has that incredible falsetto --gives me chills! And the invitation for the audience to sing along obviously delighted them.
I have heard many people try to sing this song at karioke, and even the very best failes so horribly that it just had to be embarrassing. Nobody does this song better than Dr. Jay Siegel. Even the earliest versions from Africa is nowhere near the perfection that Jay and the Tokens gave this song.
A true classic, one of only about 59. Just my opinion.

This is a funny time to say this but, I think I died and went to Heaven.
This song was nothing when I was a child but kind of funny and strange.
Now it's something from up THERE what is that VOICE anyway?

FYI This song commemorates the Zulu victory over the British "LION" at Isandlhwana in 1879. Wimoweh is the Zulu word for victory.
skudaarkaat1 6 months ago
@skudaarkaat1 Where did you get that information from? Wimoweh is not even a Zulu word.
