I was 10 when I have this is was so painful and discomfort and the worse they make a hole in my bladder and I was cry like hell then they sent me to the emergency surgery room then I was asleep when I wake up I was in the picu and there all of thing on me and is I am 11 on that year they say I need to stay in the hospital until I fully recover form my surgeries
Cystoscopy is horrible! Self catheterising is not painfull at all, but with cystoscopy the little camera thing on the end wiggles about! lol.
Iv'e only had cystoscopy once whilst awake and that was enough for me. Iv'e had cystoscopy twice whilst asleep which was better. Iv'e had 2 urethrotomy operations using cystoscopy so i had to be asleep for those.
If you can be put to sleep then choose this method whilst having cystoscopy. Just some advice ;) :)

It is the air of the cythoscope.
The walls are normal, just when you go to the urether and you see the red veins, means urethritis.
