  • Great voice!

  • my sister donna is an old soul.as is my my friend al the eyeball.hope you both see this .

  • This movie is still so amazing after all this time. So glad it's finally on DVD after all these years.

  • This is great! I saw the movie when it first came out and throughly enjoyed it. Paul Williams is fantastic! Thanks for posing the video.

  • 0:15

Jessica Harper still got it..her beautiful voice as she sings this song, this is my favorite song from the movie, wish could been there see her sing. Do wish i could have the cd it's been pretty tough to find but i'll find it one day soon.

  • It amazes me that she went from playing Phoenix and other characters in other films to making records for children.

  • Was that Paul Williams who introduced her?

  • wow!!!

  • At the end of his life, the deadliest gunfighter of the Old West is given a choice: Hell or redemption. He chooses redemption and God's Archangel transports him to modern day Los Angeles to serve bloody, frontier justice on the worst dregs of society.

  • She sings like a 20 year old !

  • That's digital footage, isn't it? So it was pretty recent.

I can't believe she still sounds so amazing after all these years Did anyone else see Inserts?.

  • Yes, I recorded this on my little canon in 2006...I wish the quality would have been better but at least I got something ;)

  • @cantfindthespacebar Scary as it may sound the original PhanPal celebration is five years old already. As one song title put it, "OH, WHAT A NIGHT!!!"

  • when and where was this?

  • April 2006, in Winnipeg Manitoba

  • I miss this song, and the movie was so bizarre and unique.

  • @vyqxendenny ...and dark! No light, whatsoever.

The poor guy can't even kill himself. My favorite movie of all time!

  • GRREAT LADY!

  • Most of this movie was shot in Dallas, Texas using the old Majestic Theater downtown, and the Old Red Courthouse down by the triple underpass in downtown Dallas as well. I had a girl that worked for me at the time when I was doing a singles' newspaper that played one of the surfer girls when the vehicle blew up. Her name was Celia Derr.

    Rick Ryan

ps...I've always loved this movie and the music. Especially Old Souls.

  • I thought they'd dubbed Karen Carpenter's voice onto the soundtrack, but it really is her singing... amazing

  • i love that she still dances the same way she did in her films ;-)

  • She is tooooooo coooooool...I wish I was her, I love Phantom and Shock Treatment

  • What a great song. Phantom is one of the best movies of all time & Jessica is a big reason.

  • buenisimooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I love Jessica Harper. Phantom of the Paradise and Suspiria are one of my all time favorite movies and this song is sooo beautiful!!!

  • Jessica was great in Phantom of the Paradise,Shock Treatment, and Suspiria. These three would make for a swell triple feature...

  • I say Suspiria was like the NO#1 breakthrough horror flick of the 70s.

  • actually she has produced and sang a TON of childrens songs & books - she is a very cool lady - we sound "gay" about it cause for some of us the movie came out when we were 12 ???? and

many of us guys fell in LOVE !!!!!! with her - just good memories man - peace & out !!!

  • I lived in Winnipeg in '74 when it came out...I was 7 at the time and remember sneaking into Cinema 3 (I think it was the name ) on Ellis Ave and seeing it over and over, in fact the first time I tried it was sold out....then I got the soundtrack for my birthday...I've been a fan since.......

  • wished i lived in winnipeg at that time.

  • Jessica looks amazing, almost like she did back in '74. And her voice sounds incredible, even more than back then. So imagine how gr8 she sounds in real life.

  • This is indeed a very beautiful song, Paul Williams is one of the greatest / most underrated singers / songwriters of the last 30-40 years - and I thank him for the music, I'm a huge fan (and always will be !). Hope he comes to the uk to do a gig / that would be a dream come true for me and my family !

  • Lovely song sung by a lovely woman. And my God, her voice has only gotten better in 30 some years.

  • ddid jessica sing roses are red. I have the song but some one told me it was jessica simpson singing it.

  • She only sang songs from Phantom of the Paradise...sorry I don't know who sings it

  • have to admit shes great, but guys you dont have to sound so gay when you make comments about hr.

  • Man!! Did I just die and went to heaven??? I looove this song and loooove Jessica Harper singing it. She's an absolute gift to an old soul...she truly is.

  • It is so amazing to see this happening, and Phantompalooza... I only wish I had heard about it two years ago instead of two months ago!! This would have been one of my life's greatest events... but even seeing the videos is wonderful. God how i love that movie.

  • It's incredible that this girl never shined as the big star she was back those days. It's a long time since 1974, and still great. I whish i was there...

  • Oh yes it was! I was there. It was at the Garrick Theatre. The home, as it were, of phans back in the 70's! I know the people who made it possible! It WAS in WINNIPEG! As for the lady herself, she is involved with kids books and music more now and it was great of her to be part of Phan-pal 2!!! Still can't believe any of it happened!

  • When did she performs this song ? Where is she now ? Is she sill on the scene ?

  • This was performed almost a year ago, Im not sure where she is but it isnt in Winnipeg :P

  • Wha? Of course it was in Winnipeg. Aren't you the one who posted the video?

  • lol Phantompalooza was in Winnipeg, But Jessica Harper is not here anymore :P

  • i'm a huge fan of jessica harper's.i wish i was there to see her sing :( this is one of my most favorite songs EVER! god bless jessica and paul williams for writing the most kick-ass music ever!!

  • Such a big beautiful voice from such a small person. Jessica harper is talented as hell.

  • Wish I could have been there. The technicial quality is not so great, but at least this was preserved, however imperfectly.

  • I'll always love her (snif), old souls DO live forever...

  • a great, great song, even better because so few knew of it, or so i thought until i heard a whole audience singing along with the (i-still-got-a-crush-on-you)beautiful ms.harper, who outdoes herself with this tune. thank you for posting.

  • The phans went totally wild when Phoenix did this awesome song from the film. The phrenzy was like the 60's and this moment we'll never forget. Thank you Jessica - Greg and Melissa Gibbons

  • I was there, I had goosebumps when Jessica sang. Why she was not a much bigger star back in the day I'll never know. I, too, hope they will do this again. It was a great show, meeting Jessica, Paul Williams and the rest of the cast, the concert, the movie, Wow!

  • As much as I liked her performance in the movie, this version of the song was more energetic and fun! Don't know how much pull these comments have, but do hope to get everyone together one last time. They are more than welcome!!!
