  • The distortion doesn't sound like Fender distortion on this, does it? I hope not. You can't really tell from the video.

  • Nice, he's using the good moster cable too.

  • Does it have bias trim pots? or fixed bias?

  • I played the combo at Guitar center, and was NOT impressed. The only thing you could get was muddy or too chunky or a mix of both. There was WAY too much bottom edge punch that doesn't really come through in the video. ON top of that, when I switched the Vintage, I'd get a crackling or faint white noise and couldn't get rid of it no matter what I did. And I know tubes are supposed to heat up, but half the time i was bothered by the burning smell coming from the amp.

  • @punkmusicmetal sounds like someone broke the floor model. it happens a lot at GCs...

  • At the end of the vid the guitar sound has that #39 Caswell sound ;')

  • Way too much talking.

  • Is this amp loud enough to gig with?

  • @Ashmann it can drive a 4x12 orange cabinet with no problem so...yeah.

  • Blah Blah Blah just play the f-n thing

  • Tried this out at Guitar Center today. For four hundred bucks, it's a hell of a buy. Sure, a Dr. Z Maz 18 (first amp that comes to mind) sounds great and cuts through, but it costs about three times as much. "6v6 monster" is a great description. I thought the pin layout was different with EL-34 vs a 6v6 or 6l6? I've used JJ/Tesla 6v6s in a 6l6 amp before... I'm thinking out loud...

  • @untacotres In an octal socket of a cathode biased amp like this, you can do EL34s, 6L6s, KT88s, KT66s, KT63s (the tetrode version of a 6V6, sounds really good) and any variations on any of these types. They are all pinned out the same. However, be mindful of the impedance levels, a tube swap can double or cut in half the impedance the OPT is expecting to see. But a 6L6, EL34, and any 6V6 types as well as KT63s can be used without changing the output impedance. Keep rockin'!

  • @punkeratheart Dude thanks for the 411 on the KT63's never heard them before..Kinkless Tetrode version of a 6V6? I'm so turned on!!!

  • @bornburied They sound awesome too, really sweet. Consider this amp like the 15 watt equivalent of an early JTM-45, the KT63s are your tetrode replacement, and it will then sound like an 800 with KT88s in it, only at 15 watts.

  • @punkeratheart thats sum hawt talk! I waz gonna slap some NOS 6550's in one (but the clearance might be tight) so if those '63's have the big bottle bold balls

    yeeeeaaahhh-hhoooo!!

  • @bornburied They sound.....like kinkless tetrodes! Really, they have a very rich and thick sort of sound, like 6V6s without unfavorable note-decay characteristic that is so hard to avoid with 6V6 circuits. That's why a lot of high-gain "american" style amps use different octals, the 6V6s can be a bit too sensitive to overload and get farty of the circuit isn't designed just right, or for that matter, if the 6V6s aren't top of the line. However, tetrodes can take you there! CRRRRUNCH!

  • @punkeratheart I love 6V6's! Laney and Crate taught me it's all about the circuit 20 years ago.I'm glad 6V6's are now becoming used more often.Doesn't hurt those JJ's have a generous plate voltage! My Z-28 has huuuge bottom and tight like Vida Guerras ass!

  • Clean channel sounds flat.....love the gain though!

  • @usefulcoin How can you tell with the audio quality?? These kinds of demo videos do NO good in selling a product because of the horrible sound quality. Everything sounds flat on youtube, with very few exceptions.

  • Man that is some NASTY compression in that gain, I friggin love it. Got a question for everyone, because I can't find this info..but are Egnater amps made in the USA? I'm assuming all but the twear are USA made...I'm buying the renegade 65 tomorrow and just want to clear that up concern.

  • no they're made in china, all of them, in an interview bruce said that his amps would either double or triple in price if they were made in the usa

  • Gr. I guess I get to enjoy the spoils of the cheaper price point then so fuck it..ordering it in the morning, its gonna be niiiice. Excuse the typo on the tweaker. I got itchy trigger finger

  • @gibshall He does have usa amps that are higher end though....

  • so nice.

  • two channel?

  • $399.99 at Musician's Friend - and it DOES have an effects loop.

  • Just put your effects post of the mic.

  • Comment removed

  • It has an effects loop. Found the spec's: * 15 Watts All-Tube * 2 x 6V6 Power Tubes * 3 x 12AX7 Pre-amp Tubes * Master Volume, Gain and 3-Band EQ * Modern/Vintage Amp Voicing Switch * Buffered Effects Loop * Selectable AC, British and American Tone Controls * Clean/Hot Gain Selector * Tight & Bright Voicing Switches
  • @weaselpopper it has an effects loop.....doh!

  • @usefulcoin woo hoo! effects loop! Bruce like us!

  • @weaselpopper it does have an effects loop

  • I am hoping for silent recording out.

  • $399.0 or $3999.00?

  • He said $399 for the head.

    $3999????? Are you kidding?

  • LOL that TV is probably ruined from being magnetized from the cab.

  • @brianwurst1234

Just noticed that. That rooms next occupants are gonna be pissed!

  • nice PRS!!

  • This amp looks very promising with those options at that price range. I'd definitely love to hear more of the amp. Also, if it comes with an effects loop, I'm sold.
