  • very cool... i was at that show. i remember that song and, right where the tape ends, he looked right at my friends and i, shouting and waving... i'm somewhat touched and amazed by this. first time i've seen it.

  • Paul plays this way fast like he's some maniacal barrelhouse piano player in an old black and white movie ..........

  • Paul doesn't need good sound quality on videos of him, his awesomeness stil shines trough.

  • thanks so much for sharing this unique piece of music with the rest of the world! it's people like you that make sharing and youtube so great! thanks again!

  • WHAT A BAMF!!!!!!

  • Wow this video footage looks very good. The sound is not soundboard quality? The Beatles and Pauls solo material was damn good. John did pretty good with his solo band as well. I prefer Pauls stuff with Wings.

  • Oddly, this was the first time i heard this song was from "Wings Over America", then i heard The Beatles version. For some reason, it just seems to me this song works better as a Wings song than a Beatles song. I know that opinion isnt too popular.

  • @DerekBayRoberts1 , no you're absolutely correct on that one. I was thinking the same thing. This performance arrangement sounds more like the song should be rather than the Beatles single, which is allright. This recording has horrible audio for some reason, but its the right sound

  • paul is paul, and that's all.

  • The mullet's gotta go but otherwise it's always great to see Paul!

  • it looks like he is pressing random keys and yet a great sound comes out!

  • This is from a super 8mm film??? Whoever filmed this did a beautiful job! The camera is almost as steady as a professional setup.

  • this is better than great ! it's Magic...

  • Another Beatles' Song he should've done at that concert would be "Got To Get You Into My Life", because it wouldv'e sounded perfect with Howie Casey's horn section he had at the time.

  • Hey, thanks for posting. One correction, though, it's in St. Paul, not Minneapolis. I should know - - I was there! St. Paul Civic Center, June 4, 1976. I was 11 years old!

  • I know your comment is 6 months old but I just had to say this: YOU ARE ONE LUCKY BASTARD!!!!

  • 20M of awesome.

    thanks for posting this :)

  • what year?

  • his voice is so Awesome ! at 1:23 when he screams - why is that so hot ?!

  • oh my gosh i know!

  • this is not on the dvd

  • holy mother of god nice vid

    thanks 4 sharing it

  • Oh, please - We need this video back , it's awesome ! I want to see it , please !

  • His voice seems different. But I'm definitley not one of those idiotic people saying it's Billy Shears. Puh, Paul is the only one that6 could pull this off!!! Wait, nevermind. The other beatles can sing this, too!!!

  • He makes his voice different for this song. Listen to the original.

  • No way! :). Paul had many different singing voices... it's something I'm quite amazed by.

Here is what Paul said about Lady Madonna:

"Lady Madonna was me sitting down at the piano trying to write a bluesy boogie-woogie thing ... It reminded me of Fats Domino for some reason, so I started singing a Fats Domino impression. It took my voice to a very odd place"

  • No is not harrison, it's Ringo, I'm sure its all in one key.

  • I read that Paul sang this song

  • dayummm that piano! Wow... how do you play that well?? This is Paul McCartney... what can't he do? :)

    Luv you!

  • Paul is such a ham. I love that man so much. I hope I'm lucky enough to cross paths with him some day.

  • Hey, why is it Paul's fault you don't have a car? YOU threw your keys off a cliff.

  • Hey Paul, if you read these comments you are as lonely as me. I love you man!

  • paul is ma g

  • wow i'm pretty sure ringo was billy shears but i guess sgt pepper lied

  • Yea. Tested on piano, thats not A Major, its A# Major.. or Bb Major.

  • he didn't transpose it up, that's just how the the recording comes out sometimes. I watched him do jet from this exact concert and I watched the same thing from a different video. it was different keys.

  • i wish paul would use the same ending to lady madonna as he did on this clip and the '76 tour...that little end bit ...he has shortened it so if you read this paul please consider...thanks

  • greatest rock voice ever

  • I didn't expect such a good quality. Audio's a bit shaky but overall very enjoyable.

  • As good as it gets, right there.

    Any Questions?

  • couldnt agree more :]]

  • I love PAUL MCCARTNEY !!!!! He´s playing in a different key right ?

  • Oh, definitely. Sounds like he transposed it one step up. Still, great performance, 'cause it's Wings. Joe's drumming made the song that much better.

  • Any word on whether Paul will issue Wings Over America on DVD?

  • There are some bits and pieces of Rockshow on the McCartney Years DVD no comment on the full version.

  • COOL!!

  • Business in the front...party in the back! LOL

  • Love this video. I know someone who was there.

  • How did you digitize your 8mm tapes?

  • i have one too how?

  • awesome footage!

  • I was there..front row..june 4th 1976..st paul civic center!

  • whats happened to all the clips from the wings over america tour?

  • Paul McCartney has never played Minneapolis. This was from the Saint Paul Civic Center in '76. Even as a Beatle his concert was in Bloomington, MN not Minneapolis.

  • Actually, he played the Metrodome once. Sometime in the 90s.

  • Michael Jackson owns Lady Madonna : )

  • not anymore, MJ is broke, he certainly doesn't have his talent, and forever she is his

  • Wrong. MJ will lose the Beatles catalog in May 2008 if he can't pay his bills. As of now...he still owns Lady Madonna.

  • you're quite right, but, with all due respect to MJ, cos he used to be someone i liked, what are the chances...?

  • zip.

  • Paul OWNS Lady Madonna. But then he's SIR Paul. Performance makes up for lack of audio.

  • If anybody wants to download this -- the whole film is now on Traders Den and Dime..

  • nobodyabcd12345 you are a complete ass. This is 16MM footage shot with a Super8 camera in the photographer's pit. The guy had access to the pit when he shot this. There is nothing fake, this is the raw footage.

  • What venue was Paul playing in? Could this be from the St. Paul Civic Center? Or was it a venue in Minneapolis?

  • there have been home movie cameras scince like the 20s man, its good sound it actually looks like you tapes it off a tv screen and did your own zoomin to make it look real, and from the sounds of it, sped it up alittle

  • Uh... It's in a different key...

  • right but why would he re learn the song in a new key, its not plausable

  • Plenty of people do that... What the hell do you mean it's not plausable?! Look at his face during the performance. When he blinks, it's not "rapid-fire"... THAT is how I know this isn't sped up...

  • look at it like this, this is nearly 10 years after the recording of lady madonna, why would he go up in key, rather than stay in "A" or even go down a key or two depending on how time has effected the mans voice, and why when he plays the song now days, its in the original "A" key

  • You have no clue about singing voices. Paul's tenor voice is in his prime here. The tenor voice doesn't fully mature until the late 20's/early 30's. Read a book.

  • why go up for one year of touring, just to bring it back down, now if the internet and a paul mccartney video is gonna make you fire back another ignorant comment, i would like to hear it, if anything just for a laugh lol

  • ok one more thing, i cant even see him blink once, and if his eyes where doing this "rapid fire" as you say, he'd sound like a frickin chip munk, not one or two keys higher, also if you would listen a bit more cloesly you can hear the sound skip ahead fragments of a second, like little bits are cut out, so maybe this was done on some sort of home movie camera, but the song being played in a higher up key, may or may not be the case

  • Listen- how about this... It's 1976... P.A.s (the vocal "amplifiers") were not as advanced. It's hard to hear yourself when you are singing in a low key with a band of 6 or more people. It's easier to hear yourself in a higher key, therefore singing out of key is sure not to happen. Perhaps he raised the key that way he could stay in key? Also, listen to him introduce the song- his voice is deep. And he DOESN'T sound like a chipmunk at all through-out the whole song...

  • to be honest, i really dont even care anymore, and changing the key by 1 or 2 definatley aint gonna make much difference hearing yourself through the PA, as i am someone who often uses a PA in performance, but honestly, who cares what key its in or how it was filmed, McCartney is a great musician, and the video is cool either way, so ROCK ON

  • If it makes any difference- I also use PAs in performance! But you are right- Paul rocks! And so does this song...

  • I prefer it in this key. Most of the songs in Wings Over America are in a different key. I don't know if that's intentional or because of the recording.

  • I've noticed a lot of the footage from the 76 tour seems speeded up. Try listening to the video for Maybe I'm Amazed here on Youtube. It was released as a single in 77 and sounds much higher and faster than the record released in 77.

  • thats super 8mm sound film folks - there was no such thing as home video cameras in 1976!

  • what exactly do you think is a fake? its a video of paul mccartney...

  • cheap fake!

  • how do you know? it might not be.

  • cool

  • stfu paul is campable of doing the unthinkable

  • very cool!

  • Nice
