@Strassenelefant I have a few more videos on here of it and someone else has posted a couple videos of it as well. No homepage for it that I know of.
Thanks for this post. I really like pics and vids of old big rigs. For some reason, I always thought the truck used in the film 'DUEL', was a '48 Pete. But after reading the posts on other Youtube pages, I learned it was a '55.
@mrkotfw Oh its not just a Mexican thing I even see some cow boy haulers do it and some east indian trucks have it but I always called it a Mexican stick because Mexicans have always tricked their trucks and cars out really cool and this was like one of their trade marks. There was no racial remark or anything like that if thats where you were going. I have tons of Mexican friends. :)
Thats A GOOD LOOKING OLD SCHOOL PETE !!!!! Its nice to see An old School Pete from the 40's & 50's still WORKING EVERYDAY. ANYBODY THAT THINKS THIS TRUCK NEEDS TO BE IN THE SCRAPYARD NEEDS THIER HEAD LOOKED @ BY A SHRINK !!!!! BETCHA 1 THING NO VOLVO TRUCK GONNA LAST AS LONG AS THIS Old School Large Car has !!!
Wow. Just wow. Im not a huge truck enthusiast but, I truly hope this truck after time is done with it falls in the right hands of someone who will love it and keep it around. Just amazing. over9000 thumbs up.
@104bigTruck actually if he still has it i have a whole truck minus motor tranny and frame i used all of that towards the boys go cart its been sitting needs a little paint now but i even have the title
Copy, Thanks Jeff. "Tims" working "CLASS" tractor is my current obsession... Seems real cool would love to hear the story on that thing.. I E is it still on 48 rails ect.. I love the bold orange it seems grill w/ the hood panels off says "I can afford the fuel" LOL!!!!
Whats the odds you can get us A more thorough walk around on this AMAZING 48?? BTW, do you know Y he has the hood sides off?? I assume to get the heat out being tuned and havin the tiny radiator??
John Deere????? No such thang as to much HP, just have to Know how to saddle it, any Flunkie can take a truck down the road and ream the guts out of it. Thanks for the Video, Good to See the Ol trucks still out working.John Deere?????
That is a nice truck... I thought it was a 1952 but with this video I can tell its an earlies model, Sometime between 1947-51 Peterbilt was founded in 1939 after Fagol truck sold its company to Fred Petermen. Fagol was split into two between Peterbilt and Freightliner. Anyhow Great truck a real American classic!
This doesn't really stack up. Firstly, long shifters are a no-no on rough terrain (and serve no useful purpose on Road) because they have a habit of falling out of gear and bending selector forks. Secondly, 600 hp is way too much for a heavy duty use. TBO would be very short, maybe less than 1000 hours.
Sadly, you can ALWAYS have too much of a good thing! Start cranking up the ponies and the cylinder pressures and temperatures soar and engine life plummets. Big trucks are for working hard all day, not an occasional blast down the quarter mile. I'm not aware of any heavy available truck engine from the 70s with 750hp except maybe the 12v71tta and I think that had a nasty habit of overheating and needing frequent rebuilds-it's that old heat problem again...
@nem427 i actually just got done rebuilding a 78 KTA19 from a guys 359 pete it was rated for 725 factory and had a 13 speed behind it, spent its days in central pa as a log hauler had almost 1.2 million miles on it! And yeah those detroits had alot of issues but i love em just the same! But as far as cranking up the ponies? well theirs still some cowboy truckers out here that want the most powerful machine on the road
@DieselMechanic09 diesel mechanic huh? thats a cummins motor and in my opinion if you were a machanic you would know that a D-model 3406? used the same style intake
Beautiful! I be smiling like that guy too if I owned it!

That is such a great truck... I can't say it in words...
Is there any Homepage or something like that where I could read more about the history and technical data of the truck...
I mean 1948 is ago such a long time that it is a wonder that the truck still exists!
