absolutely amazing punk rock song. great lyrics, PHENOMINAL music. this is my favorite summer song out bike riding enjoying everything with this great tune
shut up!! all you who got to see them.. have some mercy on polish straight edge kids who would lvoe to see them too.. gotta wait till the fuckin september.. cant afford to see them before :((
Love Zounds. Message more important than the music but the music was brilliant. They embraced a lot of different musical sounds and traditions. Wasn't that what punk was meant to be about: individualism and freedom? It was only later that it became predictable.
I saw Zounds at the Notting hill carnival at Meanwhile Gdns when the Skate park was still quite new (and while carnival was still small enough for bands there), they were great, Snuff came on after, and the Mob played, all for free, and the sun was shining, how great is that.
That's an interesting observation. because in 451, the fire was used as a tool of oppression to crush subversive literature, while zounds uses the fire as a way to subvert.
@itsacorporatething yeah i was thinking along those kinda lines, wasnt there also some kinda controversy over the art work about wether the firemen in the photo were putting out the fire or fueling it. i know its not usually a good idea to fight fire with fire but isnt there also something in the art of war book about specific times to light fires.
@itsacorporatething I agree. Crass ok ,but This was more accessable without being Too stupid or naive. Underated band and 1 of my fave. albums. SUBVERT!
They are different than Crass and shouldn't be compared so closely. Crass mastered an unstructured, truly anarchic style. This is like Subhumans: more melody, more order.
There's no point in comparing the early 'Anarcho/peace punk' bands, all had different styles. It was only when it got to D.I.R.T and that time that it became a repetitive sound.
Hagar the Womb were great and they were quite late on, a good exception to the rule because they used humour.
@chujwico Everybody's better than Crass. Lets face it, Crass couldn't play listenable music to save their lives.... But for some reason I like Crass still...
@LoudProudNPunk1 Yeah, Crass were good at their instruments, but when they got together as a band and played, they didn't sound great. But the messages in their songs are great, and some of their songs are listenable. My favorite few are big a little a, end result, and do they owe us a living.
@LoudProudNPunk1 too true... I don't think Crass ever set out to be be a band just take some of the lines from from 'do they owe us a living' and I think it says it all :-)
these guys are fucking good i just found out about them today on here, pretty sweeet, i need to get some more. its going on my bands and albums -to get list.
proud owner of this album. my brother got me it in blackpool at the holidays int he sun festival. cant get it in Ireland anymore. i had been looking for ages!
Here in the states my brother and I picked up the album I want to say in the summer of '94 in local underground music store, whether or not it's any more difficult to get it now as it was then. No clue.
@itsacorporatething Don't be silly. It's a snap to find here in the States! It's in print after being re-pressed by Broken Rekids. You can ask your local record store to order it for if they do that, or you can order it from Amazon, which is what I did. I recommend getting a copy of it as it's the definitive Zounds discography, thanks to the extra tracks.

I've had (Target/Mr. Disney/War) in my memory since ~86 and found it by chance now. AND: I'm not disapointed! But my neigbours. It's Saterday, 8:31 and my stereo makes a good job.
Yeah nice one, your a hero. with the economic decline and mass unemployment looming its ugly head again, I wonder if young people will be once again become slightly more politically aware , rather than being apathetically complaisant and content with the token dischord of modern bands.
