I'm not entirely sure the money would explode because it was put into a VCR. Now that I really think about it, I'm sure of it. It wouldn't. Also, I'm not entirely sure how it would get stuck, but if it did, a VCR cover comes off with just a few screws. I, personally, would definitely remove some screws to recover my $500. Finally, if I had an extra $500 literally laying around, I would probably put it in the bank, not some clever hiding spot on my movie shelf. What if the house burned down...

Thanks. My thought on the clear plastic window is that putting the tape back in it's cardboard sleeve will prevent anybody from seeing in. Leaving it in the sleeve helps make it more inconspicuous when it's sitting on the shelf mixed in with the rest of your vhs. Alternatively, if someone did not want to keep it in the cardboard sleeve they could paint the inside of the clear plastic black.
