" There's a light out there, in your light I stare" Smoking song writing, good arrangement and everything else just falls into place. Heard this on the radio way back in 95 bought the disk and still listen to it now.
JESUS i've been looking for this song for years, and my stupid VZ Music ID couldn't pick it up. got lucky and some other poor soul had the same question, and it led me here. LOVE this song
I'm glad I grew up around Peoria,IL Brother Cane was always on the radio there. In fact I saw Brother Cane at the Madison Theater in Peoria. Those guys know how to rock. Not like the bull shit you here on the radio today. I wish the recording companies would bring music like this back, instead of the no talent ass clowns of today.
Actually I spent a week on an a effect were Michael shoves a cell phone down the dj's throat. To begin with, the phone was huge ! I spent two days carving out and rigging the side of the mouth the camera wasn't going to see.Once I had that ready I got the jaw and body ready. On day 5,production called and said the effect had been scrapped.
I agree ! After the fourth day of working on the effect.I had the mouth rigged to accommodate the cell phone and for the head to react to Michael's movements. None the less,It's probably the only Halloween film that really tried to explain the origins of Michael Myer's.
@irvinfx Yeah. H6 gave us some idea behind Michael's madness; whereas, the other films just show him wanting to get to Laurie or Jamie. Also, I think that H5 showed us a little bit of why Michael was mad...the guy with the black cape and boots.
Ricki does a radio show about racing and rock music. Temple of the Dog was pretty much pearl jam and soundgarden. Good stuff but never really a real band. New AiC album is not bad, few good songs, still miss Lane.
@stucat06 No, he met Edward when Brother Cane opened for them during Van Halen's "Balance" tour. I worked for Damien's now ex-wife at the time, and heard horrible shit about how he was treated during those years by the music industry... for example, Van Halen made an average of $200G a night, while Brother Cane made something like $3,000... that, and to make their third album, Damien had to sign over his publishing rights so he could get an advance to keep the band together... yikes...
@johnjonestheman Thanks for the update my man. I think i read in a Mag. that Eddie was a really big fan of the band and gave them a break by touring with VH. Again thanks for the real poop.
@stbreal `got no shame' in listening to this one either ?...lol... I know i don't. the last time i heard these guys was back on headbangers ball with got no shame. can't believe it's been that long.
you know what's funny is that i truly thought that that was who sang this song for the longest time. i accidentally stumbled across this video and it blew my mind away that i was wrong for so many years.
someday....I will headline Wrestlemania....and when I do...this will be my entrance music if they say I'm good enouggh to win, if they grant me that oppurtunity, I will be either the WWE Champion or the World Heavy Weight Champion...and The Fink will call my name...
50,000 people and rising slowly figuring it out theres more to the 90s than the big 4 (chains, pearl jam, soundgarden and nirvana) Fuck yea to yall who appreciate good music, good times and good people.
I remember hearing this as a 13 year old in Florida and then moving back to Birmingham AL and seeing this movie they had done for the now defunct Bellsouth..something like, "please don't hack into your neighbors' dial-up or some goofy shit..I still think they kick ass tho...even though I'm hacking into my neighbor's wi-fi
A great video by a band that should have been promoted more than their record label did. It was the right sound at the right time! And still sounds great!
@jaarmen3 The so-called "creative differences" crap. Roman Glick left so they all did but Damon is a music machine so he just went off and found another 'family' to rock with (THANK GOD!!) or actually Alice found him I do believe. I would love if they did get back together, I'd been one of the first in line to score a ticket!
I heard this song for the first time in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. It's the most underrated movie of the franchise and that's a shame because it's really bad ass if you're a fan of horror movies.
I was fortunate to see Brother Cane, to stand on stage with them and meet them. Class act of gentlemen not to mention extremely talented muscians. Damon Johnson is an outstanding guitarist!
I remember when Iw as about 15 Brother Cane was on the mark and brian show. I called and asked them about this video and what was going on in it. Their response was basically "It's artsy fartsy stuff, and we're not sure to be honest" Hahaha. Such a great band though. One of my favorite albums of all time.
I don't just like this song.. I LOVE IT!!! And I'd never seen the video before!! He is cuuUUUuUUuUUte!!! Wish they would put this song on ROCK BAND or GUITAR HERO!
@WEINBAUER My bad, he is half the reason that franchise was so successful for so long. Plus he had more lives than a cat in those movies it took acutal death to kill him.
@ViolentPTheSkarecrow That's how I fell in love with the song to! I'm like addicted to the Halloween movies and when I heard this I looked it up and I couldn't stop listening to it!!
I fell in love with this song and band after hearing this song in the movie "HalloweeN: The Curse Of Michael Myers". Some say what you will about that movie, but its classic, and what great taste in music by including this band's tune in it, not to mention it was the first HalloweeN movie I ever went to see in theaters since becoming a fan. Memories :)
I saw them live in 1996 at the Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge, just off of LSU's campus. They were very good in concert, and I do feel they were underrated.

Took me a while,to find this video, but,it was worth it! Its just one of those songs heard on rock stations, that just came and went.Great guitar riffs!
I love Brother Cane's 1st cd from start to finish. This song and "Bread Maker" are the only two I liked from the 2nd. The 3rd....blah. Come on Brother Cane....come back with some good old Southern Rock!
This song is hard to find. I mean anyone could maybe download from there computer. But I was lucky one day about 10 years ago I was in a pawn shop that sold vhs movies and music cds and I saw a cd intitled Brother Cane. I knew who sang this song so I looked at the songs on it and there was the song And Fools shine on. I still have the cd till this day......A must have 4 any Halloween fan..
This song was very big when I was in middle school. I got instantly hooked on it each time it played on the radio. I know these guys could've gone more further beyond this song. Its a shame they didn't survive the 90's
@woody6975 I put Seeds in for a coworker's kid today. He said "This is the kind of music kids at my school make fun of me for listening to. Are they going to be on tour near here?"
He didn't believe that the album was as old as him. Also, I told him "let them make fun of you for their poor musical taste."
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If they had a producer, this song could've been so much better, the verses drag, too much space, if it had a bass line (think Alice's Heaven Beside You), with light guitar flourishes or even some percussive chimes or ride, it would've soared into that big chorus and that would have made a good song even better. Not hating on it, I just remember feeling this song missed some important elements.
goes to show you true artists can step away from their "style" and enter a different one. One of my favorite songs ever.
