Here is my theory of what happened to Ace and Peter....after the solo albums...Gene and Paul knew their time would be cut short on each album and in concert...so they devised a scheme to eliminate Peter. Since Peter had the best voice in KISS, they could get rid of him and free up all the songs he sung and would be singing - especially songs written by Gene and Paul.

If they could get Peter out, then Gene and Paul could team up and out vote Ace on every issue; thus, controlling the future of KISS completely. So they used Peter's "partying" lifestyle to justify his removal from KISS; however, they had to get Ace to vote with them or otherwise it wouldn't have worked. I'm not sure how they got Ace and Bill Aucoin to vote with them but they finally succeeded and was then able to completely control KISS.

What they didn't see coming was Ace quitting the band. Ace was the sound of KISS and if you look back from Unmasked forward, no album since has the sound that Ace gave to him. Now Gene and Paul, by using their logic on getting rid of Peter and running Ace out of the band, if Gene and Paul had been in The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones -

those band would have never existed or wouldn't have lasted beyond a few albums because *using Gene's thought process on how a band is supposed to work* Gene would have fired all the members of those bands because each member of those bands "partied" and did it harder than either Ace or Peter.

It's just the fact that Gene and Paul felt their fame and popularity was in danger of decreasing because Ace and Peter were starting to grab the spotlight and fans were wanting more and more of them. Instead of becoming better,and more seasoned he became sloppier and less consistent with his playing. His drug and alcohol addictions hampered every aspect of his playing. Why do you think he only played one 1 song on DYNASTY? Peter HIMSELF had lost interest anyway. If anything Gene DIDN'T want him out,but he(and Paul and to an extent Ace) knew it had to be done.

What is sad is, somehow they tricked Ace into voting him out - Ace totally got taken hook, line, and sinker. With Peter gone, they totally controled KISS. KISS is over.
