@blu2penguin concepts are typically stories (when applied musically). as i said, tool uses themes, which generally provides a relation through an idea or belief. concepts provide more than just lyrical overlap or similar riffs (for instance, in delirium trigger, references are made to specific characters and events). without the concept the music wouldn't make sense, but without the music, the concept wouldn't be as widely known. so the two have a sort of symbiotic relationship.

Im just saying that referencing the comic book you've written is in no way a difficult task, and if anything detracts from the depth/meaning of a song. A tool lyric like 'I know the pieces fit/ cause I watched them fall away" has something insightful to say. When Claudio says "systems malfunction blasted this dam machine" he is literally talking about a space ship (or some shit).

As far as "Epic" is concerned, as overused as the word is by the computer nerds, it's a pretty accurate way of describing their music, with the massive guitar hooks and Claudio's vocal interpretation.
